Lotions not working against winter dryness? Dermats recommend an internal fix. Discover how increasing healthy fats like A2 Ghee in your diet and a simple sesame oil massage can reverse cracked skin and improve circulation.

As the cold wave persists, dermatologists are seeing a spike in cases of xerosis (severely dry skin). The common advice is to use thicker moisturizers, but on February 21st, experts are pointing to a deeper, internal solution. "You cannot just pour moisture on top; you have to lock it in from within," explains Dr. Meera Krishnan.

The hack is to increase the intake of healthy fats, specifically Ghee. Ghee is rich in butyric acid and healthy fatty acids that lubricate the skin from the inside out, combating the dryness that winter air inflicts on the skin barrier . Adding just one or two teaspoons of A2 ghee to your dal or rice at each meal can transform skin texture within weeks .

Complementing this is the ancient practice of Abhyanga (self-massage) with warm sesame oil. Sesame oil is uniquely warming and penetrates deep into the tissues, improving circulation and nourishing the skin. "Do this before a warm (not hot) shower on a Sunday," Dr. Krishnan advises. "It calms the nervous system, lubricates joints, and seals moisture into the skin, something no lotion can replicate" . This dual approach—internal ghee and external oil—is the ultimate natural hack for winter skin.
