A woman allegedly entered an STF colony residence in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district and stabbed a constable’s wife and son to death, while injuring two daughters. Police have detained the accused and launched a detailed probe into the CG Murder Case.

Attack Inside STF Colony

A double murder inside the STF Colony under Supela police station limits in Durg district on Saturday morning triggered panic and raised serious security concerns in the area.

According to officials, a 25-year-old woman allegedly entered the residence of STF constable Lalitesh Yadav and attacked his family with a knife. The assault left his wife Reena Yadav and their nine-year-old son dead, while two daughters sustained serious injuries.

The incident took place at around 8 am when Lalitesh Yadav had reportedly gone to the railway station for work.

Family Caught Off Guard

Police said Reena Yadav was at home with her four children when the accused entered the house. Investigators believe the family had little time to react before the attack began.

Initial findings suggest the attacker first targeted the sleeping nine-year-old boy and stabbed him multiple times. She then turned on Reena Yadav and attacked her with the same weapon.

The assault unfolded within minutes, leaving the house soaked in blood and the family in shock.

Mother Tried Resisting

During the attack, Reena Yadav reportedly tried to stop the assailant and held her by the leg in an attempt to save her children.

According to local accounts, she asked her daughters to run. One of the girls managed to escape and alert neighbours, while another hid inside a bathroom to avoid the attack.

Both girls suffered injuries and were admitted to hospital. Doctors said their condition remains serious, though stable.

Neighbours Overpowered Accused

Residents rushed to the house after hearing distress calls and managed to overpower the accused before police arrived.

Locals reportedly snatched the knife from her and informed police. Officers from Supela police station reached the spot and took the woman into custody.

Police identified the accused as Sarojini Bhardwaj, 25, a native of Janjgir district who had been living in a rented accommodation in Durg.

Probe Into Motive

Investigators said the motive behind the attack is still under examination. However, police are probing the possibility of a personal dispute and suspected relationship-related tensions.

Sources indicated the accused had visited the same house a day earlier, but was allegedly sent back after a brief exchange with the family.

Police have not officially confirmed the nature of the relationship between the accused and the victim’s family. Officers said all angles, including personal conflict and prior interactions, are being examined in the CG Murder Case.

The body was spotted on Saturday morning by a woman who collects garbage in the area, and police have launched an investigation to determine how the infant ended up in the drain and whether it was alive at the time of birth.

Garbage Picker Makes the Grim Discovery

The incident came to light on Saturday when a woman who makes her living collecting garbage near the hospital premises noticed something unusual floating in the drain behind the hospital's Mother and Child Unit. On moving closer to investigate, she discovered the body of a newborn infant.

She immediately informed people in the surrounding area, who wasted no time in alerting the police. It was a routine drunk driving check at Pulgaon Chowk in Durg district on the night of March 11. A WagonR driver had been stopped, tested positive on a breath analyser, and police were proceeding with a standard Motor Vehicle Act action. Everything was by the book — until Vicky Mishra arrived.

Within minutes of his arrival, a lawful police checkpoint descended into chaos. A constable was abused and threatened with death. A bystander in the crowd was physically assaulted. And the drunk driver — the very person whose arrest had triggered the entire confrontation — was helped to flee the scene along with his car, making it impossible for police to complete their legal action.

The man at the centre of all of this is Gyaneshwar Mishra alias Vicky Mishra, resident of Kolihapuri — husband of Durg Zila Panchayat member Asha Mishra. Both are Congress-backed office bearers. The entire incident was captured on video, which has since gone viral on social media.

What Happened at Pulgaon Chowk: A Minute-by-Minute Account

According to the written complaint filed by Traffic In-charge P.D. Chandra at Pulgaon Police Station, a police team comprising constables Bhumindra Verma, Neelkanth Yadu and Vineet Tiwari was conducting a vehicle checking drive on the night of March 11 between 7 PM and 10 PM on the orders of senior officers.

At the checkpoint, WagonR driver Tulsiram was stopped for inspection. He was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. The breath analyser test was positive and the team had begun preparing for a formal action under Motor Vehicle Act provisions.

At around 9:15 PM, Vicky Mishra arrived at the spot along with his wife, Zila Panchayat member Asha Mishra. The moment he arrived, he began interfering with the police action.

His opening line set the tone for what followed: "I am a public representative. Police has no right to arrest my man."

Abuse, Threats and Physical Assault

What began as an argument rapidly escalated. According to police personnel present at the scene, Vicky Mishra verbally abused on-duty constable Vichardas Kuldeep with foul language and threatened to kill him. Physical pushing and shoving followed.

The confrontation did not stop there. Witnesses present at the scene say that during the commotion, Vicky Mishra also physically assaulted a bystander who was standing in the crowd — punching him with his fists.

Traffic in-charge P.D. Chandra initially attempted to de-escalate the situation calmly. The effort failed. As the argument raged, Vicky Mishra helped the accused drunk driver Tulsiram flee the spot along with his WagonR — deliberately obstructing the legal process and ensuring no Motor Vehicle Act action could be completed against him.

However, because Tulsiram was allowed to flee with his vehicle during the chaos, police were unable to complete the breath analyser documentation and formal drunk driving charge against him. The Motor Vehicle Act action that should have resulted in a fine, licence seizure or arrest remains incomplete.

Asha Mishra, the Zila Panchayat member, was present throughout the entire incident. Her role and potential liability in the matter is part of the ongoing investigation.

It surfaces alongside a related incident from Kanker district, where a BJP leader — also serving as VHP District President and Janpad Panchayat President — allegedly assaulted villagers while drunk and was caught on video saying without remorse: "This is my area. I hit them. I did the right thing."

Together, these two incidents from within days of each other reveal a troubling pattern of elected and politically-connected individuals in Chhattisgarh believing that their position insulates them from the law — whether at a traffic checkpoint, a village gathering, or a public space.
