The Rajdhani bus, operating on the Korba–Saraipali route, was carrying more than 50 passengers at the time — several of them standing in the aisle. The sheer overcrowding worsened the situation when the vehicle lost control.

CSP Yogita Bali Khaparde confirmed that 14 people sustained injuries in the crash — 9 women, 3 children, and 2 men. Ten of them were admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Bamhnidih.
