Body bearing multiple injury marks recovered near petrol pump; police probe accident and murder angles as identification efforts continue.

A woman, yet to be identified, was found dead under suspicious circumstances along National Highway-39 in Rewa district early on Saturday morning, triggering a police investigation into possible homicide or a hit-and-run.

Body Found Near Petrol Pump

Local residents spotted the body around 6:30 am near the Gerui petrol pump on the Rewa-Sidhi stretch. The woman, believed to be in her early thirties, was lying on the service lane. Bystanders said the spot is not very isolated, but the early hour meant fewer vehicles were passing by.

Injury Marks Raise Suspicion

Officials from the Gudh police station reached the scene after being alerted by passersby. Initial examination of the body revealed multiple injury marks on the face, arms, and torso. “The nature of some wounds does not clearly point to a road accident. We are keeping both possibilities open — a vehicle strike or a deliberate assault,” a police officer present at the site told reporters.

Accident or murder? Police probe both angles

According to sources familiar with the matter, no skid marks or vehicle debris were found immediately near the body, which has added to the suspicion. Investigators are now checking CCTV footage from nearby dhabas and fuel pumps. A forensic team has collected samples from the spot.

“The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report arrives. Till then, nothing can be ruled out,” said a senior official from Gudh police station.

Efforts on to identify victim

The woman had no identity documents or mobile phone on her. Police have circulated photographs of the deceased among nearby villages and toll plaza staff. Local residents have been questioned, but no missing person complaint matching her description has been filed in the immediate area so far.

What happens next

The body has been sent to the district hospital for autopsy. A case under relevant sections of the BNS has been registered. Police said they are also scanning records of recent missing women from Rewa, Sidhi, and adjoining districts. Officials have appealed to anyone with information to come forward.

Seven Days, Five Deaths: Love Turns Fatal In Rajgarh

Five Suicides In Week

In a disturbing trend, five persons have ended their lives in Rajgarh district within a single week. All cases share a common link: failed romantic relationships. Police confirmed three separate incidents across Bhojpur police station limits. The pattern has left local authorities and families shocked.

Officials said the deceased included unmarried couples, married individuals in extramarital affairs, and a young father of a six-month-old. Three of the victims posted photos with their partners on social media hours before the extreme step.

Social Media Posts Before Death

The first case emerged on April 11 from Dhabli Khurd village. A 23-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were found hanging from a mahua tree. Before the act, the man shared a kissing picture with the woman on Instagram.

Police identified the deceased as Rakesh Tanwar and Dhapoo Bai Tanwar. Sources indicated the two were in a relationship for several months. Rakesh had tattooed “R” and “D” on his chest. His family was preparing for his wedding, scheduled just 15 days later.

Married Woman’s Complex Story

Dhapoo Bai was already married. Her father Mor Singh said she was wed at age 10-11 to Radheshyam of Patari village. Due to marital disputes, she had been living at her parental home for years. Her mother died four years ago.

Radheshyam, the legal husband, reached the spot after hearing the news. He told police that a panchayat had tried to settle the matter multiple times. “Her father filed a police complaint and took her back,” he said. The family confirmed that no compromise could be reached despite several attempts.

Second Incident: Parents Of Four

On April 14, another double suicide came to light from Durgpura hill area. A goat herder spotted two bodies hanging from a neem tree around 10 am. The deceased used a gamchha and a chunri to end their lives.

The victims were Chhainsingh Tanwar (37) and Maangibai (35), both residents of the same village. Officials confirmed both were married and had children. Chhainsingh was a father of four. Maangibai leaves behind a 10-year-old son.

Five-Year Affair Ends In Tragedy

Local sources said the couple had been in a relationship for nearly five years. About a year ago, they had run away from home. Families traced them to Rajasthan and brought them back. A panchayat and police counselling separated the couple after that.

Maangibai had been living in her maternal home for the last four months. On Monday, Chhainsingh left home saying he was going to Khilchipur. Maangibai also left her mother’s house without informing anyone. Empty liquor bottles were recovered from the spot.

Father With Infant Son Ends Life

The third incident took place on April 17 in Kherkheda village. A passerby spotted a young man hanging from a tree outside the village. The deceased was Ram Babu Tanwar (25), a married man with a six-month-old son.

Police said Ram Babu had posted a photo with a woman on Facebook before taking the step. A close friend, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed an ongoing relationship with the woman. The day before the incident, Ram Babu had attended a wedding function and appeared completely normal.

Former MLA Raises Alarm

Former Rajgarh MLA Bapu Singh Tanwar expressed deep concern over the rising cases. He pointed directly at the negative influence of social media reels and posts.

“Lack of awareness and education is causing young people to misinterpret these influences,” Tanwar told reporters. He called for large-scale awareness campaigns to prevent further tragedies. “We will also use mass marriage ceremonies to spread awareness,” he added.

What Next For The Region

Police have registered cases in all three incidents. Post-mortem reports confirmed suicide as the cause of death. No suicide notes have been recovered so far.

Local counsellors suggest that family pressure, lack of emotional support, and social media validation traps are pushing vulnerable youth to extreme steps. As per this English news portal India, mental health experts are now urging the district administration to launch helplines. A public interest story like this highlights the urgent need for intervention. Officials said community meetings will be held in villages over the next fortnight. This remains a trending news India alert for parents and educators alike.

The incident, which reportedly took place on Friday night, has come to light after a video of the attack went viral on social media, raising serious concerns about public safety and bystander apathy.

Brutal Assault Captured on Camera

The viral video clearly shows the Young Man trying desperately to escape as multiple assailants chase him under a flyover. Despite repeated attempts to flee, he is surrounded and overpowered. The attackers are seen knocking him to the ground and beating him mercilessly with sticks, belts, and kicks.

Each time the Young Man tries to stand up and run, he is caught again and subjected to further violence. The visuals indicate a prolonged and relentless assault, leaving the victim screaming for help while struggling to defend himself.

Attackers Used Sticks and Belts

Eyewitness footage reveals that several attackers actively participated in the assault. While some held the victim to prevent escape, others continued to strike him repeatedly. Weapons such as wooden sticks and belts were visibly used during the attack.

The Young Man attempted to shield himself with his hands and legs, but the intensity of the assault made it nearly impossible for him to break free.

One of the most alarming aspects of the incident is the response of the crowd present at the scene. Instead of intervening or attempting to stop the violence, several onlookers chose to record the incident on their mobile phones.

The Event took place in a public area under a flyover, causing panic and chaos for a considerable period. However, no immediate help was offered to the victim, highlighting a troubling trend of passive spectatorship during violent incidents.

Possible Alcohol-Fueled Dispute

Preliminary information suggests that the assault may have stemmed from a dispute among acquaintances, possibly under the influence of alcohol. What initially began as an argument reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation.

A woman and her friend were set upon the moment they stepped out of Abhinav Talkies in the Kotwali police station area of Dewas late Monday night. The accused — identified as Ravi, the woman's estranged husband — had been waiting outside with at least one accomplice. The two were stopped, physically attacked, and then dragged into a waiting Maruti car.

The woman's companion, Chirayu Pathak, a resident of Bhaurasa, sustained a head injury during the assault. Eyewitnesses at the spot immediately alerted Kotwali police, describing how a woman and a young man were being taken away by force.

CCTV Footage Surfaces

Video of the incident — believed to have been captured by a closed-circuit camera near the theatre — has since emerged and is being examined by police. The footage, according to sources, corroborates witness accounts of the forcible abduction and is expected to aid further investigation.

Police Trace Accused to Indore

Acting on the eyewitness tip, Kotwali police formed a rapid response team and began tracing the vehicle. Late the same night, investigators tracked down two of the accused in the MIG Colony area under the jurisdiction of MIG police station in Indore. Both were arrested on the spot, and the Maruti car used in the kidnapping was seized.

Background: Estrangement and Dispute

Kotwali Station In-charge Shyamchandra Sharma told reporters that the victim is originally from Indore and had been living separately from her husband Ravi for some time due to domestic disputes. At the time of the incident, she had come to Dewas and gone to watch a film with Pathak.

According to police, Ravi had allegedly been tracking the woman's movements. The ambush appears to have been pre-planned, with the accused lying in wait near the cinema.

FIR Registered, Charges Framed

A case has been registered against the accused under multiple sections of law, covering assault, kidnapping, and criminal intimidation including death threats. Sharma confirmed that while two accused are in custody, a manhunt is underway for a third individual believed to have been involved in the crime.

Officials Speak

"We acted swiftly on the information received and managed to apprehend two accused the same night," Sharma said, adding that the car used as the abduction vehicle has been formally seized as evidence. Investigators are reviewing CCTV feeds and questioning those in custody to establish the full sequence of events.

What Happens Next

The two arrested accused are expected to be produced before a local court and remanded to police custody for further interrogation. Authorities said efforts to nab the third suspect are in full swing, with teams deployed across likely locations in and around Indore. The investigation is also expected to examine whether the accused had prior criminal antecedents linked to domestic violence or intimidation of the victim.

Rewa Firing: Cameraman Shot During Chaitra Navratri Kalash Yatra — Celebratory Gunfire Turns Deadly, Shooter Still at Large

What was meant to be a night of religious celebration in Rewa ended with a young man hospitalised and a bullet yet to be accounted for.

In yet another alarming incident from Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district, a cameraman was shot and injured during celebratory firing at a Chaitra Navratri Kalash Yatra on Thursday night. The victim, Pawan Singh, was documenting the religious procession when a stray bullet struck him. He has been admitted to a private hospital in serious condition. The shooter remains unidentified, and police are investigating the circumstances of the firing.

What Happened That Night

The Kalash Yatra had originated from the Saman police station area and proceeded to Pachmatha Ashram as part of Chaitra Navratri celebrations. On the return journey, as the procession passed near Gulab Nagar, sudden gunfire erupted. Pawan Singh, a young cameraman who was present to photograph and video-record the religious event, was struck by a bullet in the crossfire.

The nature of the firing is being described as "harsh firing" — celebratory gunfire discharged into the air — a practice that is illegal across India but remains rampant at public events, especially religious processions and weddings. In this case, the bullet found a human target.

Shooter Still at Large — Camera Seized as Evidence

As of filing this report, the identity of the person who fired the shot has not been established. Saman Police Station officers reached the spot immediately after receiving information and launched an investigation. In a significant development, police have seized Pawan Singh's camera and memory card as key evidence, believing the footage recorded moments before the incident may help identify the shooter.

Saman Police Station in-charge Vijay Singh confirmed that a case has been registered and a full investigation is underway.

Rewa's Worsening Law and Order Crisis

This incident does not stand alone. Rewa has been witnessing a disturbing back-to-back series of firing incidents in recent weeks, creating an atmosphere of fear among residents. Illegal weapons are in wide circulation and show no sign of being brought under control. Incidents of harsh firing and open gunfire are being reported with alarming regularity — at celebrations, in public spaces, and on the streets — posing a growing challenge for the district administration and police.

The pattern is clear and deeply troubling. Rewa is experiencing what appears to be a systemic failure in arms control and public safety enforcement. The fact that a religious procession during one of Hinduism's most sacred festivals — Chaitra Navratri — could not be conducted without gunfire injuring a civilian is a damning indictment of the current ground reality.

Celebratory Firing — A Culture That Kills

Harsh firing, locally known as "hawa mein goli," is banned under the Arms Act and IPC provisions related to negligent conduct with firearms. Yet it persists at weddings, political rallies, and religious events across Madhya Pradesh. It is not celebratory — it is reckless. Bullets fired into the air must come down, and when they do, they carry lethal force.

Pawan Singh was not a participant in any dispute. He was a professional doing his job — capturing memories of a religious event. The bullet that hit him was no one's target and everyone's responsibility.

What Must Happen Now

Rewa Police must not only identify and arrest the shooter in this case but must also launch a district-wide crackdown on illegal weapons and the practice of harsh firing at public events. Strict enforcement, event-level weapons checks, and deterrent sentencing for those found firing in public spaces are the minimum the administration owes to Rewa's residents.

The camera has been seized. The footage may speak. But unless the system acts decisively, the next Navratri — or the next wedding, the next rally — will produce another name, another hospital bed, another family in shock.
