According to SECR authorities, the revised timetable aims to improve operational efficiency by increasing average train speeds and reducing travel time across key sections. Passengers have been advised to check the updated timings before starting their journey to avoid inconvenience.

Railway officials said the new schedule applies to both originating and passing-through trains in the Bilaspur zone. Of the 63 trains affected, 55 are express or mail services, while eight are passenger or MEMU trains. The changes include adjustments in arrival and departure times at select stations, while timings at other stations remain unchanged.

“The railway timetable is reviewed and revised every year in line with infrastructure upgrades and operational requirements. Ongoing track improvement works, signalling upgrades and station redevelopment projects necessitate periodic changes,” a senior railway official said. He added that similar revisions are carried out annually from January 1.

As per the railway administration, the revised timetable will help save between 10 and 25 minutes on several mail and express trains, while passenger services are expected to see a reduction in travel time ranging from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the route and section.

The SECR management has urged passengers to verify the updated train timings through official sources, including railway enquiry counters, station notice boards and the authorised Indian Railways website. “Passengers should ensure they refer to the new timetable effective from January 1, 2026, before planning their journey,” the railway said in an advisory.

Railway officials also clarified that the revisions are part of routine operational planning and do not involve route diversions or cancellations. The focus remains on improving punctuality, better utilisation of infrastructure and smoother train movement across busy corridors.

The revised timetable is expected to benefit daily commuters as well as long-distance travellers by reducing overall journey time and improving schedule reliability. Authorities said further adjustments may be made if required, based on operational feedback in the coming months.
