CM Mohan Yadav flags off PM Shri Tourism flights to two heritage towns.

In a significant push to religious and heritage tourism, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will flag off the new PM Shri Helicopter Tourism Service from Bhopal to Orchha and Chanderi on Sunday.

The service aims to provide seamless air connectivity to the two historic towns. Officials confirmed that the launch will take place at the State Hangar in the capital.

Fares and Package Details

Passengers will need to pay ₹6,500 for a one-way trip from Bhopal to Orchha. The ticket for Chanderi has been fixed at ₹5,500.

For those seeking a premium experience, a special end-to-end package is available at ₹14,500. This includes taxi transfers, VIP darshan, and prasad. A ‘Joy Ride’ facility is also on offer for tourists at both destinations for ₹3,500.

Modern Fleet and Schedule

The government will deploy modern, six-seater helicopters for this route. Safety protocols under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model have been prioritized.

The service will operate five days a week. Officials confirmed flights will run on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

How to Book Tickets

Tourists can book their seats through two primary digital platforms. Booking is available on the official website www.flyola.in. The IRCTC portal will also facilitate ticket sales for the service.

Focus on Religious Circuit

Orchha, known as the kingdom of Raja Ram, houses the famous Shri Ram Raja Temple. The new service is expected to reduce travel time significantly for devotees.

Sources indicated that the government aims to ease access to the Bundelkhand region. Chanderi, famous for its historical fort and handloom sarees, will also see a tourism boost.

Previous Launch and Expansion

This is the second phase of the PM Shri Helicopter Tourism initiative. The Chief Minister had first launched the service on Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day, November 1.

Currently, the service operates spiritual sectors like Indore-Ujjain-Omkareshwar. It also runs wildlife sectors connecting Jabalpur, Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Chitrakoot, and Maihar.

Positive Response So Far

Official data shows that over 2,648 tourists and pilgrims have already used the service. A government spokesperson said the response indicates a strong demand for quick connectivity to religious sites.

The Chief Minister will hand out boarding passes to the first set of passengers after the flag-off. Officials added that hotel stays, meals, and local guides will be pre-arranged at the destinations to ensure a hassle-free experience. This India News Update marks a major step for regional air connectivity in the state.

Massive landslides hit Mangan district as heavy rains lash North India; IMD issues thunderstorm alerts for 16 states.

Mangan/Lucknow/Bhopal: In a significant weather-related escalation, nearly 1,500 tourists have been stranded in North Sikkim’s Mangan district following massive landslides triggered by a cloudburst-like situation. Simultaneously, a deadly spell of lightning and thunderstorms across Uttar Pradesh has claimed 15 lives over the last 72 hours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high-priority alert for 16 states, citing an active Western Disturbance that is sweeping across the northern and northeastern belts. The situation remains critical in high-altitude zones where road connectivity has been completely severed.

Tourists stranded in Mangan

Heavy rainfall on Sunday triggered multiple landslides along the Lachen-Chungthang road, effectively cutting off the region. According to officials, around 1,500 tourists are currently stuck at various points in North Sikkim.

The Mangan district administration has initiated emergency rescue protocols. Stranded visitors are being accommodated in local hotels and government facilities. Sources indicated that the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is working to clear the debris, though intermittent rain continues to hamper progress.

Fatal lightning in UP

The plains of Uttar Pradesh are reeling under a violent spell of pre-monsoon activity. Reports confirm 15 fatalities across the state within three days due to lightning strikes and storm-related accidents.

Districts including Gonda, Sultanpur, Kanpur, and Varanasi witnessed high-velocity winds reaching 50 kmph. In Kanpur and Mathura, hailstorms caused significant damage to standing crops, adding to the distress of the local farming community.

Snowfall hits hill states

While the plains battle rain, the Himalayan states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are experiencing unseasonal snowfall. Yamunotri Dham and higher reaches of Lahaul and Spiti recorded significant accumulation on Sunday.

Gondla reported 28.5 cm of fresh snow, while Keylong recorded 20 cm. The sudden drop in temperature and accompanying hailstorms have sparked concerns regarding apple orchards in Shimla, Kullu, and Mandi.

Rescue operations intensified

Sikkim authorities have mobilized the Indian Army and NDRF teams to assist the civil administration in Mangan. "Our primary focus is the safety of the tourists and restoration of the North Sikkim Highway," a senior official stated.

In Uttar Pradesh, the state government has announced ex-gratia compensation for the families of the deceased. Local administrations have been put on high alert to handle potential flooding in low-lying areas.

Severe weather alerts

The IMD has extended its thunderstorm warning to 16 states, including Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR, and Haryana. A new weather system is expected to become active in Rajasthan today, potentially bringing heavy showers to 13 districts.

Meteorologists suggest that the interaction between the Western Disturbance and easterly winds is creating volatile atmospheric conditions. This has led to the current "Public Interest Story" regarding safety precautions during lightning.

Impact on agriculture

The agriculture sector faces a grim outlook as hailstorms continue to lash North India. Wheat and mustard crops in Rajasthan and Haryana, and fruit plantations in Himachal, are reportedly the worst hit.

Economists suggest that these recurring weather disruptions could impact local market supplies and pricing in the coming weeks. Farmers have been advised to use hail nets where possible to protect vulnerable produce.

Future weather outlook

The "Latest News Today" from the weather office suggests that the current spell will persist for at least another 48 hours. Rainfall is expected to move toward the eastern states by Tuesday.

Tourists planning visits to hilly regions are advised to defer their travel until the "India News Update" confirms the stabilization of road conditions. Authorities continue to monitor the Teesta river levels as "Government Updates" remain frequent.

₹20 Crore Heritage Makeover for Ujjain’s Kothi Palace

The 138-year-old Kothi Palace in Ujjain is being transformed into the Veer Bharat Museum, with the state government allocating ₹20 crore to blend modern immersive experiences with the city’s historic legacy.

The religious capital of Madhya Pradesh is set to add a major cultural landmark to its identity. Officials have confirmed that the historic Kothi Palace, a structure nearly 138 years old, will soon reopen as the Veer Bharat Museum. The restoration project, sanctioned by the state government, carries an estimated budget of ₹20 crore and aims to preserve the building’s heritage while introducing modern exhibition techniques.

A Historic Structure Reimagined

Spread across approximately two acres, the palace originally served as a key administrative center during the Scindia state’s rule. For several decades following independence, it functioned as the Collector’s office. With administrative operations shifting to a new facility, the old palace was vacated, paving the way for this redevelopment.

Restoration work has now picked up significant pace on the ground. According to officials overseeing the project, the construction is expected to be completed within the next year, after which the museum will be thrown open to the public.

Entire Indian History Under One Roof

The museum’s design focuses on presenting a wide historical narrative, moving beyond regional boundaries. Visitors will encounter stories spanning from the Vedic period and the Ramayana-Mahabharata era to the reign of Emperor Vikramaditya and the modern freedom movement.

Officials stated that the objective is to create a seamless timeline, allowing visitors to explore the lives and legacies of key historical figures in a single, structured space. The shift from a purely administrative building to a cultural repository marks a significant change in how the city manages its heritage assets.

An Inspiring World of Warriors, Saints, and Scholars

The curatorial plan for the Veer Bharat Museum places a strong emphasis on biographical storytelling. The galleries will feature dedicated sections for freedom fighters such as Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, and Mahatma Gandhi.

Alongside the political leaders, the museum will highlight the contributions of spiritual and intellectual figures, including Swami Vivekananda, Adi Shankaracharya, and Guru Gobind Singh. This blend is intended to present a holistic view of India’s cultural and political evolution, appealing to both students of history and casual tourists.

A Major Attraction for Religious and Heritage Tourism

Ujjain is already a prominent hub for religious tourism, drawing lakhs of pilgrims to the Mahakaleshwar Temple annually. The addition of the Veer Bharat Museum is expected to diversify the city’s tourism profile.

“This will be one of the first such spaces in the country where visitors can understand the continuum from the Vedic period to the freedom struggle in an immersive setting,” an official involved with the Veer Bharat Trust explained. The trust is overseeing the project to ensure the exhibits meet modern museology standards.

What Next for the Heritage Site

With the construction deadline set for roughly one year, local tour operators and historians have expressed optimism about the project. The transformation is viewed not merely as the renovation of a dilapidated building, but as an effort to bridge the gap between the younger generation and India’s layered history.

Once operational, the museum is expected to attract both domestic and international tourists, adding a new dimension to Ujjain’s identity beyond its religious significance. The government has assured that the architectural integrity of the 138-year-old palace will be maintained throughout the modernization process.
