A cabinet sub-committee constituted to oversee implementation of women empowerment schemes met at the state secretariat on Tuesday, with discussions veering towards the need for significant updates in existing programmes to match current socio-economic realities.

The meeting, chaired by Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Nirmala Bhuria, lasted nearly two hours and saw participation from both in-person attendees and virtual members. Officials familiar with the proceedings told reporters that the panel examined major state-run initiatives aimed at making women financially self-reliant, alongside reviewing ground-level bottlenecks.

Focus on Economic Self-Reliance

Sources said the committee spent considerable time assessing schemes that provide direct benefit transfers, skill training, and livelihood support to women in rural and urban areas. Minister Bhuria emphasised that while Madhya Pradesh has seen improved female workforce participation over the last few years, several schemes need recalibration.

“The idea is to identify gaps between policy intent and on-ground delivery,” an official present at the meeting said on condition of anonymity. The committee also looked at how ongoing programmes have fared in districts with traditionally low female literacy and employment rates.

Key Attendees and Virtual Participation

Panchayat and Rural Development Minister of State Smt. Radha Singh attended the meeting in person at the Mantralaya. Urban Development and Housing Minister of State Smt. Pratima Bagri joined virtually, reflecting a hybrid working style that has become common in government business post-pandemic.

Both ministers shared inputs from their respective departments, highlighting challenges women face in accessing housing schemes and rural livelihood missions. According to initial reports, Bagri flagged delays in forming women’s self-help groups in certain municipal wards, a point that the committee agreed to take up with district collectors.

Discussion on Relevance and Required Changes

The sub-committee, formed earlier this year to fast-track women-centric policies, deliberated on the current relevance of some older schemes. Officials indicated that certain programmes launched nearly a decade ago have not kept pace with changes in labour markets, digital access, or mobility patterns of women.

For instance, skill training modules that focus on traditional crafts may need to include newer sectors like e-commerce logistics or basic IT services. The committee also discussed the possibility of merging overlapping schemes to reduce duplication and improve fund utilisation.

Background of State’s Women Empowerment Push

Madhya Pradesh has run several flagship schemes for women, including Ladli Laxmi Yojana (conditional cash transfer for girl children) and Mukhyamantri Mahila Kosh (a revolving fund for women entrepreneurs). However, independent assessments have pointed to uneven implementation across districts, with tribal-dominated and remote areas often lagging.

Tuesday’s meeting was seen as a preparatory step before the committee submits its recommendations to the full cabinet. Ministers are expected to call for district-level feedback before finalising any structural changes.

What Happens Next

Committee chairperson Bhuria told reporters after the meeting that a detailed report with proposed amendments will be circulated within two weeks. “We have listened to field-level inputs. Now we need to act,” she said, without taking questions on specific scheme names.

The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for the first week of June, where the panel will prioritise schemes that require immediate executive action versus those needing legislative changes. Officials said any major overhaul would be rolled out in a phased manner, starting with pilot districts.

The Madhya Pradesh government has declared nearly 1.20 lakh posts across various departments as “dying cadre”, effectively ending all future recruitment on these positions. The General Administration Department (GAD) has issued official instructions implementing the cabinet decision, making it clear that no new appointments will be made against these posts in the coming years.

According to the state government, the move has been taken to reduce administrative and financial burden on the exchequer and streamline the recruitment structure in government departments. The order covers work-charged, contingency fund, contractual category, and Kotwar cadre posts across the state.

The General Administration Department stated in its directive that strict action would be taken against any department, district collector, commissioner, or departmental head if appointments are made against these abolished posts in violation of the government order. Officials said the instructions have been issued to ensure complete compliance across all government offices and departments.

With this decision, the government has clarified that future recruitment in Madhya Pradesh will now take place only on regular and contractual sanctioned posts. All other categories identified under the abolished cadre system will gradually cease to exist as existing employees retire or leave service.

Officials said work-charged posts were earlier created temporarily for infrastructure and development projects such as roads, irrigation works, and building construction. Employees appointed under contingency fund categories received salaries from temporary expenditure allocations rather than permanent departmental budgets.

Similarly, contractual and Kotwar category appointments were generally made for fixed durations or local administrative requirements. The government has now decided to discontinue fresh appointments under these categories as part of broader administrative restructuring.

According to official figures released by the department, the abolished categories include 16,810 work-charged posts, 55,808 contingency fund posts, and 34,497 contractual and Kotwar category posts. Together, these account for more than 1.20 lakh positions declared under the dying cadre system.

The government has also directed departments to phase out outsourced employees currently working against regular sanctioned posts by March 2027. Departments have been instructed to complete regular recruitment processes in place of outsourcing arrangements within the stipulated timeline.

Officials said the decision is aimed at strengthening transparency and standardising recruitment systems across departments. The government believes that reducing multiple categories of employment will help improve administrative efficiency and create a more uniform workforce structure.

However, the move is expected to trigger debate among employee organisations and contractual workers’ associations, many of whom have been demanding regularisation and long-term job security for years. Employee representatives are likely to seek clarification from the government regarding the future of existing staff working under these categories.

the dying cadre system is generally used by governments when certain categories of posts are gradually phased out without immediately terminating existing employees. Under this arrangement, no fresh recruitment takes place, and the posts automatically cease to exist after current employees retire, resign, or complete their service tenure.

The latest order is also being viewed as part of broader efforts by the state government to control expenditure related to salaries and pensions while focusing recruitment on structured regular positions. Government officials maintain that the policy will help departments better manage staffing patterns and financial resources in the long term.

The decision assumes significance at a time when recruitment policies, contractual employment, and outsourcing practices continue to remain major political and administrative issues across several states. In Madhya Pradesh, opposition parties and employee groups have frequently raised concerns over vacancies, temporary appointments, and delays in regular recruitment processes.

the administration indicated that departments have been instructed to immediately review existing sanctioned strength and ensure that no fresh recruitment proposals are processed under abolished categories. Monitoring of compliance is also expected at the departmental and district administration levels.

Kerala CM Soon: Venugopal Emerges as Congress Frontrunner

CONGRESS SET TO ANNOUNCE KERALA CM AS VENUGOPAL EMERGES FRONTRUNNER

Rahul backs Venugopal; party asserts democratic process

Congress is moving closer to naming its chief ministerial face in Kerala, with Alappuzha MP KC Venugopal emerging as Rahul Gandhi's preferred choice after a one-on-one meeting in Delhi. The party, which returned to power in the state after a decade-long gap, has faced mounting pressure to announce its CM within days of the election results.

Six days have elapsed since Kerala voters handed Congress a decisive mandate—63 of 140 assembly seats, enough for a comfortable majority. Yet the post remains vacant as the party navigates an internal selection process that has drawn both support and scrutiny from multiple quarters.

VENUGOPAL CONSOLIDATES SUPPORT AMONG LEGISLATORS

Ground reports indicate Venugopal has secured backing from approximately 75–80 percent of Congress' 63 MLAs, a clear indication of his strength within the legislative wing. A photograph that circulated on social media showed Kerala Congress President Sunny Joseph, Sandeep G Varier, Sajeev Joseph, T.O. Mohan, and Usha Vijayan backing his candidacy at a May 9 meeting held at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's Delhi residence.

Party insiders familiar with the developments suggested a pragmatic arrangement should Venugopal assume office. Sunny Joseph, who won from Irikkur, may step down from his assembly seat, clearing the way for Venugopal to contest and secure an MLA position—a constitutional requirement for the chief minister's post. The move reflects careful political choreography within the Congress, balancing factional interests while ensuring legislative strength remains intact.

CHALLENGE FROM SATHEESAN CAMP

V.D. Satheesan, the other key contender, drew support from only six MLAs in the initial May 9 meeting. However, his position gained traction following the gathering, with three former state Congress presidents publicly backing his candidacy. Additionally, key UDF allies—the Indian Union Muslim League and Kerala Congress (Joseph)—have openly supported Satheesan's claims.

This bifurcation highlights underlying organisational tensions, though Congress leadership has maintained that the final decision rests with the party hierarchy rather than a simple MLAs' count.

CONGRESS REJECTS BJP MODEL

Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala seized the opportunity to draw contrasts with the ruling BJP, asserting the party's commitment to democratic processes. "In the Congress party, the CM is chosen democratically. We do not have a system where Modi and Shah take all the decisions," Chennithala said, in an apparent reference to how the national ruling party handles such selections.

The statement underscores Congress' attempt to position itself as ideologically distinct, particularly as regional dynamics shift across India following recent assembly elections.

BROADER REGIONAL SHIFTS

Meanwhile, three southern and eastern states have witnessed chief ministerial changes within the past 48 hours, signalling a significant realignment of regional politics.

In Tamil Nadu, actor-turned-politician C Joseph Vijay, chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), became the ninth CM after his party secured 108 of 234 seats. Vijay's government will rely on additional support from Congress, Left, IUML, and VCK MLAs to reach the required 118-seat majority. During his oath ceremony, Vijay notably departed from prescribed remarks, prompting Governor Arlekar to intervene.

West Bengal witnessed a historic milestone when Suvendu Adhikari became the BJP's first Chief Minister. Adhikari was sworn in on May 9 following the party's decisive 207-294 seat victory. The ceremony was attended by 20 chief ministers from NDA-ruled states, underscoring the BJP's organised show of strength.

NORTHEAST DEVELOPMENTS

In Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, re-elected as BJP legislative party leader, will take oath for his second consecutive term as Chief Minister on May 12 at 11 am. The state witnessed a consolidation of NDA strength in recent elections.

Puducherry is also set for a leadership change, with N. Ramaswamy scheduled to take oath on May 13.

Congress officials indicated an announcement on the Kerala CM post is imminent, though they have refrained from specifying an exact timeline. The party's deliberate pace contrasts sharply with the swift transitions witnessed in neighbouring states, reflecting its traditional emphasis on consensus-building within the party structure.

Chhattisgarh: 43 IAS Officers Transferred in Major Reshuffle

Chhattisgarh govt transfers 43 IAS officers including key district collectors. Niharika Barik assigned Home & Jail. Major admin shake-up ahead of polls.

The Chhattisgarh government on Tuesday carried out a significant bureaucratic overhaul, transferring 43 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers in a single order. The late-evening directive from the state’s General Administration Department has led to a change in collectors for several key districts while reassigning top officials across crucial portfolios like energy, finance, home, and health.

The reshuffle is being seen as one of the largest administrative rejigs by the state in recent months.

New roles for senior officers

Among the prominent moves, senior bureaucrat Niharika Barik has been given the charge of the Home and Jail departments. Barik, who previously held key positions in the women and child development sector, will now oversee internal security and prison administration. Her appointment comes at a time when the state is focusing on prison reforms and tackling left-wing extremism in Bastar region.

The government also moved several other senior secretaries. The energy and panchayat departments have received new faces, along with the agriculture and public works divisions.

Collectors changed in multiple districts

District administrations in at least half a dozen districts will see new collectors taking over within the next week. According to officials familiar with the matter, the collectors of districts including Balod, Bemetara, and Korea have been shifted.

While an official list released late Tuesday night did not immediately specify all posting details, sources said the changes aim to improve service delivery and accelerate infrastructure projects ahead of the next financial year.

A routine exercise or a signal?

Administrative sources described the transfers as "routine" but noted the scale. One official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “Moving over 40 officers in one go is not small. It clears the deck for fresh priorities, especially in districts where development indicators have been lagging.”

The timing has also prompted speculation within the secretariat corridors in Raipur. Some see it as a push to strengthen the state’s revenue and law-and-order machinery ahead of upcoming festivals and local body polls.

Impact on ground-level governance

For citizens, the reshuffle means new district collectors in several areas — often bringing changes in land records, grievance redressal systems, and local development schemes. In previous such moves, new collectors have typically held review meetings within the first fortnight. Officials expect a similar pattern this time as well.

The government has not yet released a detailed list of postings for all 43 officers, but department officials confirmed that joining orders have been issued. Most officers are expected to assume charge by the end of this week.

What happens next?

The General Administration Department has asked all transferring officers to hand over charge immediately. The state is likely to issue another order in the coming days to fill remaining vacancies created by these moves. For now, officers like Niharika Barik prepare to settle into their new roles — with the Home and Jail department now squarely under her watch.

Rewa gets new SP Gurukaran Singh; Surendra Kumar Jain moved to Mauganj in late-night administrative overhaul.

Late-night rejig

The Madhya Pradesh government dropped a major administrative reshuffle late Saturday night, transferring 62 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across the state. The order, issued around 1:30 am, caught many in the service off-guard.

Officials said the move is aimed at tightening the administrative grip and improving law and order ahead of the upcoming festive season. Nearly half the state’s districts—24 out of 55—will now have new police superintendents.

Rewa gets a new face

In a key change for the Vindhya region, Gurukaran Singh has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police for Rewa. Singh was previously commandant of the 24th battalion of the Special Armed Force (SAF) based in Jawra, Ratlam. He replaces Shailendra Singh, who has been promoted and moved to urban Bhopal as Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order).

Sources familiar with the development said Singh’s field experience in the SAF made him a strong candidate for Rewa, a district that often sees significant political and civic activity.

Mauganj posting confirmed

Meanwhile, Surendra Kumar Jain, who was serving as SP at the Police Training School (PTS) in Rewa, has been given charge of Mauganj district. The district, carved out recently, has been under focus for basic policing infrastructure development.

Jain takes over from Dilip Soni, the outgoing SP of Mauganj. Soni hasn’t been sidelined, though. The government has posted him as the new SP of Agar Malwa, another district where the administration is pushing for better public grievance redressal.

One vacancy remains

While the list named postings for 23 of the 24 affected districts, officials confirmed that Burhanpur remains without a confirmed SP for now. A source in the home department said, “The posting for Burhanpur will be announced in a separate order shortly. It’s likely a profile mismatch that needs recalibration.”

The incomplete posting has led to some speculation in the corridors of the police headquarters, but senior officers refused to comment on the delay.

Why the scale matters

This isn’t a routine shift. Transferring 62 officers in one night—affecting nearly half the district SPs—signals a clear intent from the state government. Usually, such large-scale movements happen after an election or a major law and order failure. Here, officials describe it as a “preventive consolidation.”

Ground-level reactions are mixed. In Rewa, some constabulary staff said they were waiting to see if the new SP changes the night patrolling system. In Mauganj, a local residents’ association told this reporter they hope Jain would focus on pending investigation backlogs.

What happens next

The new officers are expected to take charge within the next 48 to 72 hours. The government has not issued a formal reason for the timing, but insiders point to recent internal reviews that flagged gaps in district-level policing.

For now, the focus is on smooth handovers. With the monsoon session of the assembly approaching, the administration wants all new SPs settled at their desks by midweek. The Burhanpur posting remains the only loose end.

AKSHAT JAIN TAKES CHARGE AS MUNICIPAL COMMISSIONER OF REWA IN MP ADMINISTRATIVE RESHUFFLE

IAS Officer to Lead Urban Development and Civic Governance in City

The Madhya Pradesh government has appointed 2019-batch IAS officer Akshat Jain as Municipal Commissioner of Rewa, marking a significant administrative move in the state's ongoing governance restructuring. Jain, who secured an exceptional All India Rank 2 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2018, assumes office following the April 9 administrative reshuffle that transferred his predecessor, Sanjay Sonawane, to the position of Collector in Betul.

NEW OFFICER'S BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

Akshat Jain brings considerable experience in rural administration and district-level governance to his new urban role. The IAS officer has served as Chief Executive Officer of Zila Panchayat, Betul, since July 2023, where he managed developmental programmes and coordinated administrative functions across the district. His background in both rural and peri-urban governance is expected to strengthen municipal service delivery in Rewa.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS AND CIVIL SERVICE JOURNEY

A graduate in Design Engineering from IIT Guwahati, Jain's path to the civil services reflects determination and academic excellence. He had narrowly missed selection in his first UPSC attempt before securing the prestigious All India Rank 2 in his subsequent examination. The officer comes from a distinguished civil services family—his father, D.C. Jain, serves as Joint Director at the Central Bureau of Investigation, while his mother, Simmi Jain, holds the position of Additional Director General at NACIN, Jaipur, under the Indian Revenue Service.

EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION AND FORMATION

Jain completed his schooling at India International School, Jaipur, graduating in 2017 before pursuing competitive examination preparation. His early academic formation in a reputed educational institution complemented his engineering background, providing a diverse knowledge base for administrative responsibilities.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES IN REWA

As Municipal Commissioner, Jain will oversee critical urban governance functions including civic infrastructure development, public service delivery, and urban development initiatives across Rewa. The position carries responsibility for managing municipal operations, coordinating with local stakeholders, and implementing civic improvement projects. His appointment comes at a time when the city requires focused attention on infrastructure modernization and citizen services.

VACANCY AND TRANSITIONAL PERIOD

The Rewa Municipal Commissioner post had remained vacant following Sonawane's transfer in early April. The appointment of Jain fills this administrative gap and ensures continuity in municipal governance. His formal assumption of charge marks the beginning of a new phase in the city's administrative functioning under senior IAS leadership.

FUTURE ADMINISTRATIVE FOCUS

With his posting now finalized, Jain is expected to bring fresh perspectives to Rewa's urban development agenda. His experience in rural and district administration, combined with his strong academic foundation, positions him to address municipal challenges effectively. The IAS officer's appointment reflects the state government's strategy of deploying capable officers to key administrative positions for improved governance outcomes.

Chhattisgarh Heatwave: Rajnandgaon Sizzles at 45°C, Raipur Swelters 5°C Above Normal

Mercury Crosses Danger Mark

A severe heatwave tightened its grip over Chhattisgarh on Saturday, with Rajnandgaon district becoming the state’s hottest spot at a scorching 45 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed that dry westerly winds have pushed daytime temperatures to alarming levels, with no immediate relief in sight. According to officials, the capital city Raipur is also recording a maximum of 44°C, which is nearly five notches above the normal for this time of the year.

Heatwave Conditions Widen

The blistering heat is not limited to a single pocket. Latest News Today indicates that Bilaspur, Raipur, and Durg divisions are expected to witness similar heatwave conditions for at least the next 48 hours. The IMD has issued a yellow alert, warning that the dry spell and intense solar radiation will keep both days and nights unusually warm. Sources indicated that the night temperature has also remained elevated, causing continuous discomfort for residents across the state.

Raipur Records Unusual High

In Raipur, the normal April maximum temperature hovers around 39.5°C. However, the city has been consistently recording temperatures around 44°C for the past three days. Government Updates from the state disaster management authority confirm that this is the most prolonged April heat spell in the last five years. “The combination of dry winds and clear skies is creating a furnace-like effect over the central parts of the state,” said a senior IMD scientist speaking on condition of anonymity.

Historical Data Indicates Danger

Weather analysts point out that the last week of April is historically the most lethal for Chhattisgarh. The all-time record for Raipur remains 46.1°C, logged on April 30, 1942. More recently, on April 28, 1999, the city touched 45.4°C. Given the current trajectory, meteorologists fear the mercury could breach the 45-degree mark in the capital by Monday. “We are approaching the peak heat period. Precaution is the only cure,” the official added.

Why the Sudden Spike?

The primary reason behind this intense Chhattisgarh Heatwave is the influx of hot, dry air from the western and south-western desert regions. National and International News reports suggest a similar heat dome is affecting parts of Odisha and Telangana. The lack of any significant western disturbance or moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal means the atmosphere remains bone dry. This setup leads to extreme surface heating during the day, with minimal cooling effect after sunset.

Advisory Issued for Public

The Public Interest Story here is about survival. The weather office has strongly advised residents to avoid stepping out between 12 PM and 4 PM unless absolutely necessary. Those working outdoors have been urged to use scarves or caps and maintain heavy hydration. Officials have also warned about the risk of heat strokes and dehydration, especially for the elderly and children. “We have asked district collectors to ensure ORS packs are available at public health centres,” a health department spokesperson said.

What Next for Chhattisgarh?

Looking ahead, an English News Portal India analysis suggests that relief is unlikely for at least five days. While isolated dust storms or thundershowers are possible towards the end of April due to a minor western disturbance, they will offer only temporary respite. The Trending News India suggests that as the land continues to heat up, the chances of breaking the 46-year-old record remain low but cannot be ruled out entirely. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. For now, the state remains firmly in the grip of a relentless sun, with citizens advised to stay indoors and stay safe.

Madhya Pradesh Property Rates Hiked from April 1, Impacting 65,000 Locations

Purchasing property across Madhya Pradesh became more expensive from April 1, with the state government implementing a revised schedule of guideline rates. The hike, which averages around 16% statewide, affects approximately 65,000 locations, with the commercial and residential hubs of Indore and the state capital Bhopal witnessing the most significant increases.

Statewide Revision Takes Effect

The new rates, approved on March 26, came into force at the start of the new financial year. According to official data, out of a total of 105,000 registered locations in the state, rates have been increased at nearly 65,000. In Bhopal, prices have risen at 740 locations, while Indore tops the list with revisions at 2,625 locations. The average hike of 16% is higher than last year's 13% increase.

Bhopal’s Sharp Spike

In the state capital, the hike ranges from 20% to a steep 181% in areas such as Bhanpur, Kolar Road, and the Ayodhya Bypass. This marks the second consecutive year of rate increases in Bhopal. Last year, the District Valuation Committee had raised rates by an average of 11% across over 1,300 locations.

Sources indicated that the district committee reviewed 63 claims and objections related to the proposal. Of these, 34 suggestions were partially accepted, four were fully accepted, and 22 were rejected. Three suggestions, including one from the Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India (CREDAI) Bhopal, have been forwarded to the Central Valuation Board for further consideration.

Indore’s Extensive Impact

Indore, the state’s commercial capital, saw the highest number of revised locations. The minimum hike in the city is 10%, with some acquisition-affected villages witnessing increases of up to 200%. Areas like Malakhedi saw residential plot rates jump from ₹1,600 to ₹2,600 per square metre, while commercial plots soared from ₹1,600 to ₹4,000 per square metre.

Urban pockets also felt the heat, with Talawali Chanda seeing a 200% hike in residential plots. Commercial rates in Kalindi Park rose sharply from ₹31,400 to ₹108,000 per square metre. Other cities like Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur also reported significant hikes, with increases reaching 150% and 99% in key areas respectively.

The Reason Behind the Hike

Officials attributed the widespread revision to a combination of infrastructure development and urban expansion. According to government sources, the development of new colonies approved by the Town and Country Planning department impacted 38 locations, while the construction of national highways, bypasses, and ring roads influenced 18 others.

In Bhopal district alone, 720 locations proposed for rate hikes were approved. The rise is also linked to enhanced connectivity, such as the Indore-Ujjain corridor, and major upcoming events, which are seen to be increasing property values.

Stakeholder Concerns and a Key Proposal

The rate hike has sparked concern among property buyers and developers. A key suggestion put forward by CREDAI, now awaiting a decision by the Central Valuation Board, seeks to address the issue of double stamp duty on property re-transfers.

As per the proposal, if a property is re-transferred within three years, the stamp duty paid earlier should be adjusted in the new registration. Currently, buyers face the burden of paying full stamp duty again, a practice many in the industry deem impractical and a hindrance to market liquidity.

Transparency Measures in Place

To manage the new rates and ensure a transparent registration process, the state has implemented the Sampada 2.0 online system. Under this system, all property registrations are processed through sub-registrar offices with a mandatory physical inspection of the property.

Geo-tagged photographs are uploaded to verify the location and details, a measure officials say is designed to curb fraud and bring greater accountability to the registration process.

Outlook for Property Buyers

With the new guideline rates now in effect, prospective homebuyers and investors will face a higher upfront cost in the form of stamp duty. While the government maintains the revision reflects true market value and is driven by infrastructure growth, analysts suggest it may lead to a short-term slowdown in transaction volumes as buyers recalibrate their budgets. The final decision on the re-transfer proposal will be closely watched by the real estate sector, which sees it as a potential relief measure in an increasingly costly market.

Single-click disbursement at CM residence

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav will transfer over Rs 169.57 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 257 MSME units on Monday. The single-click disbursement will take place at a programme themed “Samarth MSME Viksit Madhya Pradesh” at the CM’s residence at 10 am.

The event will also see the first installment of startup grants worth nearly Rs 28.6 lakh being distributed. MSME Minister Chetanya Kumar Kashyap will hand over an interim dividend cheque of Rs 8 crore from the Laghu Udyog Nigam to the Chief Minister.

Startup grants for 286 entrepreneurs

Under the Madhya Pradesh Startup Policy and EIR implementation scheme, the state has approved Rs 3.43 crore for 286 startups across 43 districts. Chief Minister Dr Yadav will release the first tranche of Rs 28.6 lakh with a single click.

Officials said the initiative aims to boost entrepreneurship beyond major urban centres. Several young founders are expected to share their experiences during the event.

Land allotment for industrial use

Three entrepreneurs from Agar Malwa and Betul districts will receive land allotment orders for industrial plots. One more entrepreneur will get a letter of intent (LoI) for future allotment.

The Chief Minister will also distribute land allotment certificates and LoIs online to multiple entrepreneurs across various industrial areas. This digital push is part of the state’s effort to reduce red tape for small businesses.

Loans under Udyam Kranti Yojana

Three beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Udyam Kranti Yojana will receive loan disbursements totalling Rs 50.5 lakh via cheques. The scheme has been designed to provide easy credit to first-time entrepreneurs in rural and semi-urban pockets.

State officials indicated that more than 10,000 applications are under various stages of processing under this scheme. The government expects to accelerate job creation through these micro-credit interventions.

Direct dialogue with entrepreneurs

Chief Minister Dr Yadav will interact with several entrepreneurs during the programme. Sources close to the CM’s office said the government wants direct feedback from ground-level business owners.

Such interactions have previously led to policy tweaks, including faster clearances and single-window approvals. The event is being seen as a signal that the state remains focused on ease of doing business despite the upcoming election season.

Why this push matters now

Madhya Pradesh has been aggressively courting MSMEs to diversify its industrial base away from traditional large-scale manufacturing. According to state industry department data, MSMEs contribute nearly 32% to the state’s gross value added.

The Rs 169 crore incentive transfer covers units that have met production and employment targets under past policies. Officials confirmed that only compliant units with verified documentation are receiving the payouts.

What happens next

The state plans to roll out a dedicated MSME portal by June for real-time tracking of incentive applications. Another round of disbursements is expected before the monsoon session of the assembly.

Minister Kashyap has reportedly asked district industry centres to identify another 500 eligible units for the next phase. The government is also exploring a tie-up with nationalised banks to offer collateral-free loans up to Rs 25 lakh for women-led startups.
