Supreme Court Stays Sonam Raghuvanshi Bail

The Supreme Court has stayed the bail granted to Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, after Meghalaya challenged the order.

The Supreme Court of India on Friday stayed the bail granted to Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, providing temporary relief to the Meghalaya government, which had challenged the bail order before the apex court.

The matter came up for hearing after the Meghalaya government moved the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the bail granted to Sonam. The state argued that the relief was granted because of a typographical error in the police documents and sought immediate intervention to prevent her release while the case is under trial.

The case relates to the alleged murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi during the couple's honeymoon in Meghalaya in May 2025. Investigators have alleged that Sonam Raghuvanshi was the key conspirator in the murder and that the crime was carried out with the help of hired assailants. The allegations are currently being examined during the trial, and the accused has denied wrongdoing.

Earlier this week, the Meghalaya High Court had upheld a Shillong court's order granting bail to Sonam Raghuvanshi after dismissing the state's appeal. The High Court had observed that the lower court's order did not warrant interference, although a detailed judgment is awaited.

Following the High Court's decision, the Meghalaya government promptly approached the Supreme Court, maintaining that the bail order stemmed from an error in the police records. According to the state, a typographical mistake in mentioning the relevant legal provision played a role in the grant of bail, and the issue required urgent correction.

During Friday's proceedings, the Supreme Court stayed the operation of the bail order, meaning Sonam Raghuvanshi will continue to remain in custody until further directions from the court. The stay does not amount to a final decision on the merits of the bail dispute, and the matter will continue to be heard by the apex court.

The Raja Raghuvanshi murder case has attracted nationwide attention since the businessman from Indore was found dead in Meghalaya after the couple went missing during their honeymoon. The investigation led to the arrest of Sonam Raghuvanshi and other accused, with the Meghalaya Police filing a detailed chargesheet in the case.

The Supreme Court's interim order marks the latest legal development in the high-profile case. Further proceedings are expected as the court considers the Meghalaya government's plea seeking cancellation of the bail granted to the main accused.

Romantic social‑media posts and a puzzling hoodie in 33°C heat helped Pune police piece together the murder of 26‑year‑old Ketan Agrawal, investigators said, after they arrested his fiancée, 20‑year‑old Siya Goyal, and her alleged accomplice, 22‑year‑old Chetan Chaudhary.

Police said CCTV from Lohagad Fort showed Ketan and Siya entering together on June 18, followed at a distance by a young man wearing shorts, a hoodie pulled low and a headset. The hoodie — worn despite daytime temperatures around 33°C — and evasive behaviour on camera drew investigators’ attention and later matched images of Chetan, officials said.

The couple had announced their engagement in February and were due to marry in November. Siya’s public Instagram feed carried multiple affectionate posts with Ketan: proposal pictures, cake posts marking the month since engagement, moments of dancing and flower exchanges. Family members told police the pair had been preparing for a wedding; Siya’s 20th birthday fell on June 19, the day after the incident.

How the case unfolded

Initial narrative: After Ketan went missing at Lohagad, Siya told relatives he had slipped while trekking. Police first treated the matter as an accidental fall.

New leads: Ketan’s uncle informed officers that Siya had earlier suggested postponing the wedding and had repeatedly pressed to visit Lohagad. That prompted investigators to review CCTV and digital evidence more closely.

Suspicious CCTV: Footage showed a hooded man trailing the couple. Siya glanced back in one clip; the hooded man then altered posture, investigators said. That behaviour, plus the hoodie in hot weather, made him a person of interest.

Identification and arrests: Comparing images from social accounts and CCTV, police identified the hooded man as Chetan Chaudhary. Call detail records and phone metadata showed thousands of calls and long conversations between Siya and Chetan, suggesting a sustained relationship beyond acquaintance. Both were arrested and booked for murder and criminal conspiracy; the probe is continuing.

Alleged earlier attempt and other claims
Police allege that Siya had earlier tried to push Ketan into a gorge during a Lohagad visit on June 14; officers say Ketan grabbed a bush and survived. Family members also told police Siya may have deliberately hidden Ketan’s passport, cancelling a planned pre‑wedding shoot in Bali — an action investigators say could indicate premeditation.

Forensic and investigative steps
Pune police said they examined CCTV, call logs, social‑media interactions and matched photos to strengthen identification. Officers are continuing to collect digital footprints, witness statements and forensic evidence from the fort and surrounding trails. No further charges or additional suspects were named as of the latest update.

Why this is drawing attention
The case has drawn local media and public interest because of the contrast between the couple’s public romance and the violent outcome. The apparent pretense of wedding preparations, social‑media documentation of affection, and the unusual hoodie detail have together formed the core of police leads — highlighting how online content and mundane choices captured on camera can become crucial evidence.

What police say next
Investigators told reporters the probe is ongoing and that more details would be released as forensic reports and phone‑data analysis conclude. Officials did not provide the suspected motive publicly beyond noting an alleged extramarital relationship between Siya and Chetan and claims of coercion and conspiracy being examined.

Further legal steps
Siya and Chetan remain in custody pending charges. The police said they will produce the suspects before court as required and continue forensic tests and trail‑site examinations. Family members of the deceased have been cooperating with investigators and requested privacy.

The incident triggered vandalism and arson at the accused's residence.

Late-Night Murder Shocks Area

A young man was allegedly stabbed to death by two of his friends in the Mandir Hasaud area on the outskirts of Raipur late on Friday night, police said. The killing sparked tension in the locality, with angry residents later attacking the accused's house and setting a vehicle on fire.

The deceased, identified as Toshak Bharti, sustained serious injuries during the assault and was rushed to a hospital in Arang. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Dispute Led to Violence

According to police officials, preliminary investigation suggests the incident stemmed from a personal dispute involving a minor accused. Toshak reportedly suspected that his sister was in contact with the juvenile, which had led to disagreements between the two sides in recent days.

Police said Toshak, the juvenile and another accused, identified as Karan Dhruv, were known to each other and were friends. Before the incident, all three had reportedly been together.

The confrontation turned violent near a water tank close to Palaud Chowk around 9 pm on May 29. During the altercation, Toshak was allegedly assaulted and stabbed.

Family Lodges Complaint

The victim's mother, Saraswati Bharti, filed a complaint at Mandir Hasaud police station. In her statement, she alleged that Karan Dhruv and the juvenile attacked her son and inflicted knife injuries during the fight.

Following the complaint, police registered a case of murder and began an investigation. Authorities have taken both accused into custody, including the juvenile, and further questioning is underway.

Villagers React in Anger

News of the killing spread quickly through the area, drawing a large crowd to the scene. Witnesses said residents gathered near the accused's residence and expressed anger over the incident.

During the unrest, portions of the accused's property were damaged. A vehicle parked outside the house was also set ablaze. Police personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control before it escalated further.

Officials said separate action is being initiated against those involved in vandalism and property damage.

Security Measures Tightened

Given the tense atmosphere, additional police deployment was made in parts of Mandir Hasaud. Authorities have appealed to residents to maintain peace and allow the investigation to proceed.

Police confirmed that the body was sent for post-mortem examination and forensic evidence has been collected from the crime scene. Investigators are also examining the sequence of events leading up to the fatal attack.

Second Murder Case in Days

The latest incident comes amid heightened concern in Mandir Hasaud, where another murder case was recently solved by police.

Just a day before the stabbing case came to light, investigators had announced a breakthrough in the killing of Bhubneshwar Yadav, who had gone missing on May 22. Police arrested three accused, including local independent councillor Nohar Das alias Golu Ratre, in connection with that case.

According to investigators, Yadav was allegedly killed following a dispute related to water and an argument near a liquor outlet. His body was later transported to Mahasamund district and buried in sand near the Mahanadi river to conceal evidence.

Investigation Continues

With two serious murder cases emerging from the Mandir Hasaud region within a short span, law enforcement agencies are under pressure to ensure swift action and maintain public confidence.

Police said the investigation into Toshak Bharti's killing remains ongoing, and further legal proceedings will follow based on evidence collected during the probe. The Mandir Hasaud murder case has once again raised concerns about escalating interpersonal disputes turning into deadly violence.

A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers on Thursday questioned retired judge Giribala Singh for over six hours at her residence in the Kolar Hills area, as her arrest in the Twisha Sharma death case appeared imminent.

The questioning began around 10:30 am, barely 24 hours after the Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled her anticipatory bail in a late-night order. Sources familiar with the matter said the former judge was being confronted with digital evidence and forensic reports.

Heavy Security, Barricades Outside Residence

The retired judge’s house has been virtually sealed. Personnel from the Kolar Hills and Bag Sevania police stations have been deployed outside, and barricades have been put up around the property. Officials from both police stations were also seen entering the premises.

According to local authorities, the heavy security is a precautionary measure to manage the growing crowd of onlookers and media personnel that has gathered in the upscale locality.

3D Camera Used to Map Crime Scene

Investigators brought a high-intensity 3D camera inside the house to conduct a 360-degree forensic mapping of the entire premises. The technology is typically used to prepare scientific evidence for court.

Initial reports indicate that the camera was also positioned on the balcony to scan neighbouring rooftops and terraces. The CBI is trying to determine whether the spot where Twisha died was visible from any adjoining property.

What the High Court Said

In a strongly worded 17-page order issued late Wednesday, the High Court noted that the lower court had failed to properly examine the case diary and evidence. The court observed that multiple injury marks were found on the body, which the accused side could not explain satisfactorily.

“The trial court did not consider the seriousness of the case. It was not appropriate to grant relief to the accused,” the order stated, according to legal sources.

The court also took note of WhatsApp chats that allegedly show the mother-in-law and husband pressuring Twisha over her character and demanding an abortion.

Husband on CBI Remand Till May 29

Meanwhile, Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh remains in CBI custody after the agency was granted his remand until May 29. Officials are questioning him about the sequence of events on the night of May 12, when Twisha died under suspicious circumstances at their home.

Investigators are also looking into his ten-day disappearance. Police have confirmed that Singh had switched off his mobile phone and hid in Jabalpur while on the run. “He kept changing locations and avoided direct contact with people,” an official said.

The Case So Far

Twisha Sharma, an actress and model who had worked with several multinational brands and appeared in two Telugu films, died on the night of May 12. While her in-laws have maintained it was a suicide, her family has alleged murder.

A second post-mortem was conducted by a team from Delhi AIIMS at the Bhopal AIIMS on May 24. The final report, including histopathology and viscera analysis, is still awaited. Her last rites were performed later that evening at the Bhadbhada crematorium.

What Happens Next

With the CBI team expected to leave the residence at any time, officials said a medical examination will likely precede a formal arrest. The agency is also examining call detail records and CCTV footage from the area.

The Supreme Court had taken suo motu cognisance of the matter on May 25, with the Chief Justice expressing concern over questions being raised about the judiciary’s impartiality. For now, all eyes remain on the Kolar Hills residence, where a former judge’s fate hangs in the balance.

Tension gripped the Naliya Bakhal area under Mahakal police station limits after a young man was stabbed to death during a heated argument among friends late Wednesday night. The victim, identified as Mohit, son of Premnarayan Mansoria, was declared dead on arrival at Charak Hospital.

The incident occurred between 11 pm and midnight when a group of youths was chatting in the locality. According to preliminary investigation, a sudden dispute erupted after one youth slapped another, quickly escalating into a violent brawl. In the scuffle, Mohit was allegedly stabbed multiple times. Despite efforts by his friends to rush him to the hospital, doctors could not save him.

Local residents said the argument appeared minor at first but turned ugly within minutes. CCTV footage from the area, which has now surfaced, shows several youths engaged in a physical fight, though the actual stabbing moment remains partially obscured.

Police Swift Action

Mahakal police registered a case of murder based on the complaint filed by the victim’s father. Senior officers, including Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma and Additional Superintendent of Police Alok Sharma, along with Station House Officer Gagan Badal, formed a special team.

The team worked through the night, scanning CCTV footage from nearby locations and using technical surveillance. Within 24 hours, police claimed to have cracked the case.

Two persons were arrested — Eklavya Sharma, a resident of Pushkar Bawdi in the same Naliya Bakhal area, and a minor. Both have been taken into custody, and further interrogation is underway.

“Initial probe suggests the murder stemmed from a sudden flare-up during a casual conversation. We are questioning the accused to establish the exact sequence and role of each individual,” a senior police officer said.

Area Tense After Killing

News of the killing spread rapidly in the neighbourhood, prompting angry family members and locals to gather at the Mahakal police station. They demanded immediate arrests and strict action. Police had to deploy additional forces to maintain calm as protests continued late into the night.

Mohit’s family is said to be in deep shock. Relatives described him as a regular young man from the area with no known criminal background. Many locals expressed concern over rising incidents of youth violence in residential pockets of Ujjain, especially after dark.

Background of the Locality

Naliya Bakhal is a densely populated residential area close to the iconic Mahakaleshwar Temple. While the temple zone remains heavily policed due to tourist footfall, inner residential lanes often see such spontaneous gatherings of youngsters in the evenings. Police have previously conducted drives against illegal weapons in such pockets, but challenges remain.

This latest incident has once again highlighted questions about youth safety and the easy availability of knives in such confrontations. Many residents called for better street lighting and increased night patrolling in the area.

Investigation Ongoing

Officers said the arrested accused are being questioned to determine if the stabbing was pre-planned or occurred in the heat of the moment. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the spot, and the minor has been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board as per protocol.

The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after post-mortem. The last rites are expected to be performed on Thursday or Friday, depending on family preparations.

Ujjain police have appealed to citizens to maintain peace and avoid spreading rumours. Senior officials assured that the investigation will be taken to its logical conclusion and no one will be spared.

This case marks yet another instance of swift police response in Ujjain, coming days after other law and order updates in the temple town. However, it has also triggered fresh discussions on how to prevent such avoidable tragedies among the youth.

The deceased, identified as Lal alias Ritesh Choudhary, had reportedly been missing for the past few days following an alleged assault incident. The situation escalated when angry protesters carrying the body attempted to block a road demanding immediate arrest of the accused. Police later intervened and conducted the funeral under tight security.

Body Found In River

According to officials, the body of Ritesh Choudhary was found on Tuesday in the Bihad river near Karahiya area. Local residents spotted the body floating in the river and informed police authorities. Family members alleged that the youth had been assaulted three days earlier and claimed he was murdered before being thrown into the river. The recovery of the body triggered outrage among relatives and local residents, turning the Rewa youth death case into a major public interest story in the region.

Protest Outside Hospital

After the postmortem on Wednesday, family members and supporters carried the body from the hospital to the Amahiya road area and attempted to stage a road blockade. A large crowd gathered at the protest site demanding immediate arrest of those allegedly involved in the incident. Traffic movement in the area was partially affected as tensions continued for several hours. Police officials rushed to the spot after receiving information about the growing unrest.

Police Rush To Spot

City Kotwali police station in-charge Nisha Mishra and Saman police station in-charge Vijay Singh reached the location along with additional police personnel to control the situation. Officials held discussions with family members and protesters and assured them that action would be taken after investigation and postmortem findings. Authorities continued to monitor the crowd closely as the atmosphere remained tense throughout the protest.

Crowd Turns Violent

The situation worsened during the protest when a local youth allegedly referred to the deceased as a “criminal” in front of the crowd. The remark triggered anger among those present, following which several people allegedly assaulted the youth. Eyewitnesses said the crowd attacked him before police personnel intervened. Police officers immediately rescued the youth from the mob and shifted him to a safer location to prevent further violence.

Missing After Dispute

According to preliminary police information, a dispute and physical altercation had taken place two days earlier in Nipania locality under City Kotwali police station limits. During the incident, Ritesh Choudhary, a resident of Amahiya area, reportedly went missing under suspicious circumstances. Family members had been searching for him continuously before his body was recovered from the river on Tuesday.

Injury Marks Raise Suspicion

Sources indicated that multiple injury marks were found on the deceased’s body, strengthening the family’s suspicion of murder. Relatives have demanded strict action against the accused and a detailed investigation into the circumstances leading to the youth’s death. Police said the body had been sent for postmortem examination and further action would depend on medical findings and evidence collected during the probe.

After prolonged discussions and assurances from police officials, family members agreed to proceed with the final rites. The body was later taken to the cremation ground under heavy police deployment to avoid any untoward incident. Authorities confirmed that the funeral was conducted under police supervision due to the tense atmosphere in the area. Officials said investigation into the Rewa youth death case remains underway and statements from witnesses and individuals linked to the earlier dispute are being recorded.

The accused, identified as Dharmendra Kol alias Bhindu Kol, had been absconding since the incident that took place on the night of May 12. According to police officials, the accused allegedly attacked his younger brother Golu Kol with a sharp-edged weapon after an argument escalated inside their house. The victim died on the spot due to severe injuries. The case has become a major Public Interest Story in the region and is drawing attention as part of the latest crime-related India News Update.

Domestic Dispute Turns Fatal

Police said the dispute began over a family-related issue between the two brothers late at night. What started as a verbal argument soon turned violent when the elder brother allegedly lost his temper and attacked Golu Kol, aged 23, with a sharp weapon. The victim suffered critical injuries and collapsed at the scene. Family members and nearby villagers rushed to help, but he was declared dead before medical assistance could arrive. The incident created panic in the village, with residents shocked by the brutal nature of the crime. Villagers described the atmosphere after the murder as tense and silent, while family members were seen mourning outside the house.

Accused Escaped After Attack

Soon after the incident, the accused fled the village to avoid arrest. Police teams from Gudh police station reached the spot after receiving information about the murder and immediately began an investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem examination, while forensic experts collected evidence from the crime scene. Officers recorded statements from family members and local residents to understand the sequence of events. Police sources indicated that local informers and technical surveillance played a key role in tracking his movement.

Gudh police station in-charge Shail Yadav confirmed that the accused was arrested on Thursday after continuous search operations and monitoring.
Forensic Investigation Continues

Investigators are continuing to gather forensic and circumstantial evidence related to the case. Police officials said statements from family members and witnesses are being recorded to establish the exact reason behind the dispute. The murder weapon is also expected to be examined as part of the ongoing investigation. Sources said police are trying to determine whether the attack was pre-planned or carried out in sudden anger during the argument. The case has highlighted concerns over rising incidents of violent family disputes in rural areas. Crime analysts say domestic disagreements often escalate quickly in emotionally charged situations, especially where anger and personal tensions remain unresolved.

Villagers Remain Shocked

Residents of Hardua village said the two brothers were known locally and nobody expected the dispute to end in murder.
High Court Upholds Life Sentence in Raipur Double Murder Case

Man killed girlfriend and her young daughter to avoid marriage pressure; court calls crime “extremely cruel and barbaric.”

A chilling double murder case from Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur has once again drawn attention after the High Court upheld the life imprisonment awarded to the accused, describing the crime as “extremely cruel and barbaric.” The division bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Ravindra Kumar Agrawal dismissed the appeal filed by accused Vicky alias Sukhiram Yadav, who had challenged the trial court’s verdict in the sensational 2021 murder case involving his girlfriend and her innocent daughter.

The horrific incident took place in Raipur’s Telibandha area and had shocked the entire state because of the brutality involved. According to the prosecution, the accused murdered his girlfriend by slitting her throat and later killed her young daughter by leaving her on a railway track, where she was run over by a goods train. The court observed that the crime was not accidental or committed in sudden anger, but was a carefully planned act intended to eliminate both victims and escape legal consequences.

Court records reveal that the woman had earlier filed a rape case against Vicky alias Sukhiram Yadav. Following the complaint, the accused had been arrested and sent to jail. However, after securing bail, he allegedly came under continuous pressure from the woman to marry her. The woman reportedly warned him that if he refused marriage, she would pursue the rape case strongly in court and ensure he received punishment.

Investigators said the accused wanted to avoid both marriage and legal complications. As a result, he allegedly planned the murder in advance. On the night of January 22, 2021, he called the woman near Jora Maidan in Raipur under the pretext of meeting her. During the meeting, he attacked her with a knife and slit her throat, killing her on the spot. Police later recovered the woman’s body from the area.

What made the crime even more disturbing was the murder of the victim’s young daughter. According to the prosecution, after killing the woman, the accused became afraid that the child could expose him or become evidence against him. To eliminate all traces of the crime, he took the little girl to a nearby railway track and left her there. Soon afterward, a goods train ran over the child, leading to her tragic death.

The brutal nature of the murders triggered widespread outrage in the region. The following morning, the accused reportedly went to former village sarpanch Rikhiram Sahu and confessed his crime. Based on the information, police arrested him and launched a detailed investigation. During interrogation and forensic examination, investigators collected several crucial pieces of evidence linking him directly to the murders.

The trial court, after examining witness statements, forensic reports and other material evidence, convicted the accused on July 19, 2022. He was found guilty under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for murder and Section 201 for destruction of evidence. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment.

However, the accused later approached the High Court challenging the verdict. His counsel argued before the court that the incident occurred in a sudden fit of anger and was not pre-planned. The defense also claimed that the accused was mentally disturbed at the time of the incident and therefore deserved leniency.

The High Court rejected all such arguments. In its detailed observation, the division bench stated that the sequence of events clearly showed preparation and intention. The court pointed out that the accused had carried a knife to the meeting spot, which indicated prior planning. The bench further observed that the earlier threats made by the accused and his actions after the murder strongly proved that he acted deliberately.

The court also relied heavily on forensic and scientific evidence. DNA analysis and forensic science laboratory reports confirmed the presence of human blood on the knife used in the crime and on the clothes of the accused. The judges noted that this evidence conclusively established his involvement and left no room for doubt.

Calling the murders “heinous,” the High Court emphasized that such crimes cannot be viewed with sympathy. The bench remarked that the murder of a helpless child in such a manner reflected extreme brutality and a complete disregard for human life. The court further stated that the accused attempted not only to kill the victims but also to destroy evidence in a calculated way.

Legal experts say the judgment reinforces the judiciary’s strict stand against crimes involving violence against women and children. The case also highlights how forensic evidence and scientific investigation are playing an increasingly important role in securing convictions in serious criminal matters.

The incident had deeply disturbed residents of Raipur when it first came to light in 2021. Many local organizations and women’s groups had demanded the harshest possible punishment for the accused, calling the murders inhuman and unforgivable. With the High Court now dismissing the appeal, the life sentence awarded by the trial court remains in force.

Four Family Members Murdered While Sleeping in Janjgir-Champa

A husband, wife and their two grandchildren were found murdered inside an under-construction house in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district, with police suspecting a property dispute behind the killings.

A shocking case of multiple murder has surfaced from Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district, where four members of a family, including an elderly couple and their two grandchildren, were allegedly killed with sharp-edged weapons while they were asleep late Wednesday night. The incident took place in Bhavantra village and has triggered panic and grief across the area.

According to police officials, the victims were identified as Medni Prasad Kashyap, Pitambar Kashyap, Shanti Bai and Kumari Mogra. Their blood-soaked bodies were discovered on cots inside an under-construction house on Thursday morning. Preliminary investigation suggests the victims were attacked while sleeping and had little or no chance to defend themselves.

The crime came to light when a mason reached the site in the morning for construction work and noticed the bodies lying inside the partially built house. He immediately informed local villagers, after which the village sarpanch, Rajaram Kashyap, alerted the police.

Soon after receiving information, police teams reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Senior officers, along with forensic experts and a dog squad, began examining the crime scene to collect evidence and establish the sequence of events leading to the killings.

Officials said the family members had been sleeping inside the under-construction house where work on a new building was underway. Investigators suspect the attackers entered the premises during the night and assaulted the victims using sharp weapons. Blood stains and signs of violence were reportedly found around the cots where the victims were sleeping.

The brutal nature of the crime has shocked local residents, many of whom gathered near the house after news of the murders spread through the village. Emotional scenes were witnessed outside the crime scene as relatives of the deceased broke down in grief.

Police have not officially confirmed the exact motive behind the killings, but initial findings indicate that a property-related dispute may have led to the murders. Sources associated with the investigation said tensions linked to land or ownership issues are being examined as a possible reason behind the attack.

Additional Superintendent of Police Umesh Kashyap said the victims appeared to have been murdered with sharp-edged weapons during the night. He confirmed that a neighbouring suspect has been detained for questioning and police are investigating all possible angles connected to the case.

Investigators are also recording statements from family members, neighbours and villagers to determine whether the deceased had any ongoing disputes or threats in recent months. Police sources said forensic evidence collected from the scene will play a key role in identifying the attackers and reconstructing the sequence of the crime.

The presence of two children among the victims has further intensified public anger and concern over the incident. Local residents described the killings as one of the most disturbing crimes witnessed in the village in recent years.

Officials said the bodies have been sent for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause and timing of death. The postmortem report is expected to provide important details regarding the number of injuries and the weapons used in the attack.

security has been increased in the area to avoid any tension following the murders. Police personnel continued to remain deployed near the village as investigators searched for additional evidence and possible suspects linked to the case.

Residents said the incident has created fear across the locality, with many demanding swift action against those responsible. Villagers also urged authorities to ensure justice for the victims and strengthen security arrangements in rural areas where violent disputes often escalate suddenly.

Crime experts say property disputes continue to remain one of the leading causes of violent attacks in several parts of rural India. In many cases, unresolved land conflicts and family disagreements turn deadly, particularly in villages where mediation mechanisms remain weak.

Police officials stated that the investigation is still at an early stage and more details are likely to emerge after interrogation of the detained suspect and analysis of forensic findings. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against all those found involved in the murders.

The incident took place in Hardua village under the Gudh police station area and has created panic and tension among local residents. According to police officials, the accused attacked his younger brother during a heated argument late at night. The victim suffered critical injuries and reportedly died on the spot before medical assistance could arrive. The accused fled immediately after the incident, taking advantage of darkness in the area.

Dispute Turned Violent

Police sources identified the deceased as 23-year-old Golu Kol, while the accused has been named as Dharmendra Kol alias Bhindu Kol, aged around 28 years. Both were residents of Hardua village in Rewa district. Initial investigation suggests that an argument broke out between the two brothers over a domestic issue. The dispute reportedly escalated rapidly, after which the accused allegedly attacked Golu Kol using a sharp-edged weapon. Residents nearby reportedly heard loud arguments before the assault took place. The violent nature of the attack left villagers shocked as news spread across the locality during the night.

Accused Escapes After Attack

After carrying out the fatal assault, the accused allegedly escaped from the spot before villagers and police could reach the area. Local residents informed authorities immediately after discovering the victim lying in a pool of blood.

Police officials stated that search operations were launched soon after the information was received. Teams have been deployed at multiple locations to trace the accused, who remains absconding. Investigators believe the accused may attempt to hide in nearby villages or forested areas. Police are continuously conducting raids at suspected hideouts linked to the accused.

Police Reach Crime Scene

Following the incident, Gudh police station in-charge Shail Yadav reached the village along with a police team and initiated investigation procedures. The area around the crime scene was secured and local residents were questioned regarding the circumstances leading to the murder.

Officials stated that the victim’s body was kept at the ancestral residence initially while authorities waited for the forensic team to arrive for evidence collection. Police later prepared the body for post-mortem examination, which will be conducted at the district hospital after completion of forensic procedures.

Forensic Team Examining Evidence

Police said forensic experts were called to the village to examine physical evidence related to the murder. Officers are collecting blood samples, weapon-related clues, and witness statements to establish the sequence of events. Investigators are also attempting to recover the weapon allegedly used in the attack. Officials stated that technical evidence and testimonies from family members will play an important role in strengthening the case. The investigation team is carefully documenting the crime scene due to the seriousness of the incident and the family relationship between the accused and the victim.

Village Remains Under Tension

The murder has created a tense atmosphere in Hardua village, where residents remain disturbed by the violent incident involving two brothers from the same family. As a precautionary measure, additional police personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order and prevent any further disturbance. Authorities are also monitoring the situation to ensure peace in the village.

Relatives and villagers have been questioned as part of the investigation, while police continue gathering details regarding the background of the family dispute. Local residents described the incident as deeply disturbing and said such violence has rarely been witnessed in the village before.

Police Appeal to Public

Police officials have appealed to citizens to cooperate with the investigation and share any information related to the whereabouts of the accused. Authorities said the identity of informants would be kept confidential to encourage public cooperation in locating the accused quickly. Officials are also examining whether the accused had any prior criminal background or history of violent behaviour. Police sources indicated that teams are working continuously and expect important leads soon in the case.

Family Disputes Turning Violent

The Rewa murder case has once again highlighted the growing concern over violent outcomes arising from domestic and family disputes. Experts say sudden escalation of personal conflicts often leads to irreversible consequences, especially in emotionally charged situations. Local residents expressed shock over the incident and demanded strict legal action against the accused. The case has become a major talking point across the region due to the brutality of the crime and the relationship between the victim and the accused. Police officials have assured that the accused will be arrested soon and the matter will be investigated thoroughly under relevant legal provisions.

Authorities confirmed that the probe remains active and multiple teams are engaged in tracing the accused. Statements from family members, neighbours, and eyewitnesses are being recorded to establish the exact motive behind the murder.

Nearly four months after a 27-year-old man was beaten to death over a trivial dispute about applying chandan (sandalwood paste) at a religious fair, police have arrested three key accused from Gujarat’s Surat city. The men had been working incognito as private security guards on a metro rail project.

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Surat Police picked up Akash Singh alias Saurabh Singh Rajput, Satyam Singh Rajput, and Ajit Singh Rajput from Olpad’s Masma village late on Tuesday. According to officials, the trio was living there to evade the Rewa police dragnet.

Hiding in plain sight

Sources familiar with the matter said the accused had been working as private security guards at a metro rail construction site in Surat. They were arrested following a specific tip-off that suspects in the riots and murder case registered at Rewa’s Panwar police station were hiding in the Adajan area. Surveillance was mounted before the arrests.

All three have now been handed over to the Madhya Pradesh Police after initial legal proceedings.

The January dispute

The sequence of violence began on January 1, 2026, during a religious fair in Shivpur, Rewa district. Organisers were applying chandan on visitors’ foreheads as a welcome gesture. The victim, Atif Ahmad Shaikh, who had arrived with friends, refused to have it applied.

What started as a minor objection quickly escalated. Two communities clashed at the fair, leading to a brawl. Police investigations later revealed that the accused held a grudge after that day’s events and planned to “teach him a lesson.”

Brutal attack caught on video

The fatal assault took place on January 27. Atif was travelling in a tempo when the accused intercepted him on the road. The three arrested men, along with unidentified accomplices, attacked him with sticks.

A viral video of the incident shows the victim being pinned to the ground while assailants rain down blows repeatedly. Initial reports indicate he was struck over 40 times in roughly three minutes.

Atif was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

100-member SIT formed

Given the communal undertones and the brutality of the crime, Rewa’s Superintendent of Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising over 100 personnel. Despite multiple raids across the district, the accused remained elusive.

“The accused changed their identities and travelled to Gujarat. They even managed to get private security jobs, which shows careful planning,” a local police officer said on condition of anonymity.

The victim’s family had named five residents of Champagarh village under Panwar police station: Shivam Singh Thakur, Ajit Singh Thakur, Saurabh Singh Thakur, Satyam Singh Thakur, and Shakti Singh Thakur. Three of them are now in custody.

What next

With the arrests closing a four-month manhunt, police are now probing if the accused had local help in Surat. Officials said efforts are on to trace the remaining accused. The case continues to draw attention as the viral video reignites concerns over mob violence over minor disputes.

Three Masked Men Attack Family

Three masked assailants stormed the residence of a former block Congress vice-president in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district late Thursday night. The attackers shot dead the leader’s 19-year-old son and critically injured his younger sibling.

The incident occurred around 12:30 am in Karhi village under the Birra police station limits. Police said the assailants entered the house and opened fire indiscriminately. The victim, Ayush Kashyap, suffered bullet wounds to the head and chest and died on the spot. His 16-year-old brother Ashutosh remains critical.

Parents Locked In Separate Room

According to preliminary investigation, the three masked men first locked the parents inside a room. They then targeted the children sleeping in another room. Ayush, a second-year BA LLB student, was hit twice. Ashutosh, a Class 10 student, sustained a bullet injury on his shoulder.

Cash And iPhone Stolen

Police sources indicated that the attackers fled with around Rs 60 in cash and an iPhone. The family has three children. Their daughter Prerna Kashyap, a BPM officer posted in Jagdalpur, was also home on leave during the attack. She witnessed the shooting.

Sister Recounts Earlier Visit

Prerna told police that three young men had come to their house a week ago asking about Ayush. She added that all three attackers wore masks during Thursday night’s assault. The family said the assailants also took three mobile phones before escaping.

Father Alleges Sand Trade Rivalry

The victim’s father, Sammlal Kashyap, alleged that the murder stemmed from a sand mining business dispute. “Ayush had recently purchased a hyva truck and a JCB. He had become active in the trade. That is the only reason someone would want him dead,” Kashyap told police.

Local Congress leaders, including MLA Vyas Kashyap and Jaijaipur MLA Baleshwar Sahu, visited the crime scene late Thursday night.

Police Launch Massive Manhunt

Acting Superintendent of Police Nivedita Paul and Additional SP Umesh Kashyap reached the spot along with cyber and forensic teams. Officials confirmed that the attackers used motorcycles. Police have set up barricades across the town and are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas.

“We are also analysing call detail records to identify the suspects,” an officer said. The body has been sent for post-mortem. The younger brother continues to receive treatment at the district hospital.

What Next

Authorities have formed multiple teams to track down the three masked assailants. Investigators are examining whether a recent land dispute or sand mining rivalry motivated the attack. Police expect to make arrests within 48 hours based on technical surveillance leads.
