Ten days later, on June 2, his mutilated body was recovered from a 30-foot-deep gorge near a waterfall in the East Khasi Hills. Police found multiple stab wounds inflicted by sharp weapons. One knife was later recovered from the jungle. Sonam, who was initially reported missing, surfaced in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur and surrendered to police on June 9, 2025.

Alleged Conspiracy and Arrests

According to the Meghalaya Police, Sonam allegedly orchestrated the murder with the help of her purported lover Raj Kushwaha and three others — Akash Rajput, Anand Kurmi, and Vishal Singh Chauhan.
