Speaking ahead of the league’s upcoming fixtures, Klaasen dismissed the notion that SRH’s bowling attack is solely responsible for the team’s struggles. Instead, he pointed out that the batters have consistently failed to post competitive totals.

According to him, the team has fallen short by around 40 runs across the first three matches, a gap that has significantly impacted results.

Batting Under Scrutiny

Klaasen emphasised that SRH’s batting-heavy approach demands high scores in the range of 220–230 runs. He noted that the team’s strategy is built around setting daunting targets, thereby allowing the bowlers to defend totals with greater confidence.

“In the matches we lost, the batters left crucial runs on the field,” Klaasen said, indicating that even a marginal improvement in batting output could have altered outcomes.

Bowling Unit Concerns

The absence of key players has nonetheless affected the bowling lineup. SRH have been without captain Pat Cummins, who is yet to regain fitness, weakening the team’s pace attack.

Additionally, England pacer Brydon Carse suffered an injury early in the tournament, further limiting the team’s options and forcing reliance on relatively inexperienced bowlers.

Despite these setbacks, Klaasen maintained that the bowling unit has performed reasonably well under the circumstances.
