‘Dhurandhar’ Sees Dip in Screen Count in Fifth Week as Daily Collection Falls Below ₹10 Crore

After maintaining a strong run at the box office for nearly a month, Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar has shown signs of slowdown in its fifth week. For the first time since its release, the film’s single-day earnings slipped below the ₹10 crore mark, collecting an estimated ₹8.75 crore on its fifth Friday, according to trade sources.

The dip coincides with a reduction in the film’s screen count across India. Dhurandhar, which was earlier running on over 7,000 screens nationwide, is now playing on around 3,800 screens. The decline comes in the wake of the release of Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda and featuring veteran actor Dharmendra in his final on-screen appearance.

Industry insiders say the shift was expected. Both Dhurandhar and Ikkis are backed by Jio Studios, and nearly half of Dhurandhar’s screens have reportedly been reallocated to Ikkis following its January 1 release. Trade analysts note that such redistribution is common when a new studio-backed release enters the market, especially during a crowded holiday window.

Despite the recent drop, Dhurandhar continues to post historic numbers. The film’s total domestic net collection now stands at approximately ₹747.75 crore. Worldwide, it has amassed around ₹1,162.25 crore, surpassing the lifetime global earnings of major Hindi blockbusters such as Pathaan and Jawan. The film remains one of the highest-grossing Indian releases of all time.

Meanwhile, Ikkis has had a mixed start at the box office. Directed around the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Arun Khetarpal, the film earned about ₹7 crore on its opening day. Collections dropped sharply on day two, with earnings of roughly ₹3.5 crore, taking its two-day domestic total to ₹10.5 crore. Apart from Agastya Nanda, the film also stars Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat in pivotal roles.

Released on December 5, Dhurandhar features Ranveer Singh as Indian spy Hamza and boasts an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Danish Pandor. The makers have already announced a sequel, Dhurandhar 2, which is scheduled to hit theatres on March 19.

Trade experts believe that while collections may continue to taper in the coming weeks, Dhurandhar’s overall theatrical run has already secured its place among Hindi cinema’s biggest commercial successes.
