A major administrative crackdown has been carried out in Chhattisgarh under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), leading to strict action against several empanelled hospitals. The State Nodal Agency initiated this move after multiple healthcare institutions failed to comply with guidelines issued by the National Health Authority.

In total, action has been taken against 59 hospitals across the state. Among them, 33 hospitals have been suspended, while payments and pre-authorizations have been halted for 26 others. The highest number of violations has been reported from Raipur district, where 44 hospitals have come under scrutiny.

Administrative action under three categories

The Health Department clarified that the action was linked to non-compliance with the HEM 2.0 portal requirements. Hospitals were expected to complete registration, update essential information, and respond to queries raised on the portal within the stipulated time.

Suspension due to non-application

A total of 21 hospitals were suspended because they did not submit any application on the HEM 2.0 portal. These hospitals failed to initiate the mandatory process altogether, leading to immediate suspension until further notice. The affected facilities are spread across Raipur, Durg, Mahasamund, Bemetara, and Gariaband districts.

Suspension for failure to update information

Another set of 12 hospitals has been suspended for not updating their details or responding to queries raised by authorities. These hospitals remained non-responsive despite repeated reminders. Their suspension will remain in place until they complete the required updates and clear pending queries.

Payments and pre-authorization halted

In addition to suspensions, payments and pre-authorizations have been stopped for 26 hospitals. Authorities found their applications incomplete, and these hospitals failed to resubmit corrected applications within the given timeframe. As a result, their financial claims under the scheme have been put on hold.

Raipur emerges as the most affected district

The impact of the crackdown is most visible in Raipur, where a total of 44 hospitals have faced action across all three categories. This indicates a significant level of non-compliance in the state capital, raising concerns about adherence to scheme guidelines among empanelled healthcare providers.

Deadline and repeated reminders ignored

According to the National Health Authority, all hospitals registered under the Ayushman scheme were required to update their information and upload necessary documents on the HEM 2.0 portal by December 31, 2025. Despite multiple reminders and notices, several hospitals failed to meet the deadline, prompting strict enforcement measures.

Appeal by the State Nodal Agency

The State Nodal Agency has urged all empanelled hospitals to complete their registration and ensure timely updates on the HEM 2.0 portal. Authorities emphasized that strict compliance with guidelines is essential to maintain transparency, accountability, and quality healthcare services under the Ayushman scheme.
