(India News Calling)

The two-day programme is aimed at attracting domestic and global investment, strengthening partnerships with industry and highlighting Haryana's growing capabilities in advanced manufacturing, technology and emerging sectors. Saini will be accompanied by Haryana Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Commissioner and Secretary, Industry and Commerce, Dr Amit Kumar Agrawal, and other senior officials.

The outreach will begin on August 23 with a diaspora interaction and dinner. The programme will include a cultural presentation showcasing Haryana's heritage, an audio-visual presentation on the state's development journey and interaction with members of the diaspora and industry representatives.

On August 24, the Haryana delegation will participate in an investors' meet and a breakfast roundtable with private equity and venture capital representatives. Saini is also scheduled to hold one-to-one meetings with leading industry figures to discuss investment opportunities and potential partnerships in the state. (India News Calling)

The state government plans to highlight opportunities across sectors such as electric vehicles and mobility, semiconductors, data centres, artificial intelligence, pharmaceuticals, Global Capability Centres and green energy. Haryana's proximity to the national capital is expected to be a key part of its investment pitch.

According to the state government, around 57 per cent of Haryana's geographical area falls within the National Capital Region. The state also has established road, rail, aviation and logistics connectivity, which officials say gives it an advantage in attracting industries and facilitating the movement of goods and people.

The delegation will also highlight Haryana's digital single-window clearance system and sector-specific policies aimed at making approvals and project implementation easier for investors. The state has recently introduced 11 new sectoral policies as part of its broader industrial expansion strategy.

Saini said Haryana was entering a new phase of industrial and technological growth and that the state had already received initial investment intentions worth more than ₹1.10 lakh crore. The Mumbai outreach, according to the government, will focus on converting investor interest into concrete projects, strategic partnerships and employment opportunities.

The programme is also intended to build momentum ahead of the 2027 global investors' summit. Discussions with industry leaders, investors and the diaspora are expected to help the state identify potential areas of collaboration and communicate its policy framework to prospective investors.

With Mumbai being one of India's major financial and corporate centres, the Haryana government is looking to use the outreach programme to deepen engagement with businesses and investors. The focus will be on presenting Haryana not only as a manufacturing destination but also as a potential hub for emerging technologies, services and green industries.

The government expects the Mumbai meetings to help translate investment proposals into long-term commitments as Haryana prepares for the Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit 2.0 next year.

The Gurugram suicide case has taken a new turn after the deceased's family alleged that he was assaulted by his wife's relatives shortly before taking the extreme step. Police say the matter remains under investigation.

Gurugram, June 16: A suspected suicide case in Gurugram has sparked allegations of marital harassment after the family of a 30-year-old man claimed he was physically assaulted and mentally distressed in the hours leading up to his death.

The deceased, identified as Hukum Ahirwal, was found hanging in a rented room in the Sarhol area of Gurugram. While police have termed it a prima facie case of suicide, family members have alleged that continuous disputes with his wife and her relatives pushed him to take the extreme step.

Marriage Marked by Disputes

According to relatives, Hukum married Rajji, a resident of Damoh district in Madhya Pradesh, around three years ago. Family members claim that differences emerged soon after the marriage and that the couple spent limited time together.

They alleged that Rajji stayed at her matrimonial home for only a few months before returning to her parental residence and was unwilling to resume cohabitation. During this period, the couple also had a child, who is currently around two years old.

The child was reportedly born while Rajji was staying with her family, and the relationship between the two families continued to remain strained.

Panchayat Intervention

Sources familiar with the matter said efforts were made by both families to resolve the dispute through a community meeting held around a month ago.

According to the deceased's relatives, Rajji agreed to reunite with her husband after discussions but insisted that she would not stay at his ancestral home. Instead, she reportedly wanted the family to settle in Gurugram, where her brother and other relatives were residing.

Accepting the arrangement in an effort to save the marriage, Hukum moved to Sarhol along with his wife and child.

Distress Call Before Death

The most serious allegations have emerged from the deceased's final phone conversation with family members.

Kapil, the deceased's brother, claimed that Hukum called home shortly before his death and appeared frightened and emotionally disturbed. According to the family's account, he alleged that his wife had slapped him and called her brothers, who then assaulted him.

The family claims Hukum expressed fears about his safety during the call. A short while later, they were informed that he had allegedly taken his own life.

These allegations have not yet been independently verified by investigators.

Social Media Detail Emerges

Relatives further alleged that Hukum had recently purchased a new smartphone for his wife and helped her create an Instagram account.

According to family members, several videos were uploaded to the account within days. While the detail has drawn attention on social media, investigators have not indicated whether it has any direct relevance to the case.

Police have not commented on claims made by relatives regarding the couple's personal interactions in the days preceding the incident.

Police Await Investigation Findings

Station House Officer Sajjan said the case is being examined from all angles.

According to police, the body was sent for post-mortem examination and later handed over to the family. Preliminary findings indicate death due to hanging.

Officials stated that no external injury marks were found on the body during the initial examination. However, investigators will analyse the deceased's mobile phone records and call details as part of the probe.

Police said appropriate action would be taken if evidence establishes the involvement of any individual in abetment, harassment or other offences connected to the death.

Family Seeks Answers

The incident has left the family searching for answers and has raised questions about the circumstances leading to the man's death. As investigators collect digital evidence and statements from those involved, relatives are demanding a thorough inquiry into the allegations they have raised.

The Gurugram suicide case remains under investigation, and authorities have said conclusions will be drawn only after all evidence is examined.

No alimony settlement, both agree to part ways

World champion boxer Saweety Boora and former Indian Kabaddi captain Deepak Hooda have formally ended their marriage through mutual consent at a family court in Hisar. The couple, married in 2022, told the court that living together was no longer possible.

Advocate Sunil Tiwari, representing the parties, confirmed that both athletes were present when the verdict was announced. Saweety stated before the judge that reconciliation had failed. Deepak Hooda declined to comment after the proceedings.

No financial transaction involved

The divorce happened without any monetary exchange. Earlier, Saweety had demanded ₹50 lakh as alimony and ₹1.50 lakh per month for maintenance. However, the final settlement excluded any such payment. Neither party sought financial relief from the other at the time of separation.

Allegations and counter-allegations

The marriage began to crack in February 2025. Saweety accused Deepak of dowry harassment, physical assault, confiscating her passport, and mental torture. She even alleged an attempt on her life. Deepak, in turn, filed a fraud complaint against Saweety and her family members in Rohtak.

He claimed that a plot in Hisar was registered in both names despite him making full payment. He also alleged that Saweety’s father and brother misappropriated funds totalling several lakh rupees.

Police station scuffle surfaces

The dispute escalated to physical confrontation at Hisar’s women’s police station on March 15. During questioning, a scuffle broke out between the two. A one-and-a-half-minute video later surfaced showing Saweety getting up from her chair and grabbing Deepak by the neck. Women police officers intervened to calm her down.

Following the incident, police registered an FIR against Saweety and her family members for assault. She was granted bail after being detained for several hours.

Boxer’s fresh allegations

After the assault video went viral, Saweety went live on social media and claimed the clip was tampered with. She alleged that Deepak had provoked her and that the beginning and end of the video were removed. She further claimed that Deepak was “interested in boys,” a statement she said she discovered after marriage. Deepak has not yet responded to these allegations publicly.

Dowry and career pressure claims

In her February 2025 FIR, Saweety said her family gave ₹1 crore and a Fortuner SUV as wedding gifts, yet she was taunted for insufficient dowry. She also alleged that Deepak’s sister mocked her father’s contributions. After marriage, she claimed pressure was put on her to quit boxing and focus on household work. She said Deepak would stay away for 5–6 days and react angrily when questioned.

What lies ahead

With the court granting divorce by mutual consent, the legal battle has concluded for now. No pending criminal complaints were cited as a barrier to the separation. Both athletes are expected to return to their respective sporting careers. Saweety continues to train in Hisar, while Deepak has stayed away from media interactions. Police say no further summons have been issued unless fresh complaints are filed.
