No alimony settlement, both agree to part ways

World champion boxer Saweety Boora and former Indian Kabaddi captain Deepak Hooda have formally ended their marriage through mutual consent at a family court in Hisar. The couple, married in 2022, told the court that living together was no longer possible.

Advocate Sunil Tiwari, representing the parties, confirmed that both athletes were present when the verdict was announced. Saweety stated before the judge that reconciliation had failed. Deepak Hooda declined to comment after the proceedings.

No financial transaction involved

The divorce happened without any monetary exchange. Earlier, Saweety had demanded ₹50 lakh as alimony and ₹1.50 lakh per month for maintenance. However, the final settlement excluded any such payment. Neither party sought financial relief from the other at the time of separation.

Allegations and counter-allegations

The marriage began to crack in February 2025. Saweety accused Deepak of dowry harassment, physical assault, confiscating her passport, and mental torture. She even alleged an attempt on her life. Deepak, in turn, filed a fraud complaint against Saweety and her family members in Rohtak.

He claimed that a plot in Hisar was registered in both names despite him making full payment. He also alleged that Saweety’s father and brother misappropriated funds totalling several lakh rupees.

Police station scuffle surfaces

The dispute escalated to physical confrontation at Hisar’s women’s police station on March 15. During questioning, a scuffle broke out between the two. A one-and-a-half-minute video later surfaced showing Saweety getting up from her chair and grabbing Deepak by the neck. Women police officers intervened to calm her down.

Following the incident, police registered an FIR against Saweety and her family members for assault. She was granted bail after being detained for several hours.

Boxer’s fresh allegations

After the assault video went viral, Saweety went live on social media and claimed the clip was tampered with. She alleged that Deepak had provoked her and that the beginning and end of the video were removed. She further claimed that Deepak was “interested in boys,” a statement she said she discovered after marriage. Deepak has not yet responded to these allegations publicly.

Dowry and career pressure claims

In her February 2025 FIR, Saweety said her family gave ₹1 crore and a Fortuner SUV as wedding gifts, yet she was taunted for insufficient dowry. She also alleged that Deepak’s sister mocked her father’s contributions. After marriage, she claimed pressure was put on her to quit boxing and focus on household work. She said Deepak would stay away for 5–6 days and react angrily when questioned.

What lies ahead

With the court granting divorce by mutual consent, the legal battle has concluded for now. No pending criminal complaints were cited as a barrier to the separation. Both athletes are expected to return to their respective sporting careers. Saweety continues to train in Hisar, while Deepak has stayed away from media interactions. Police say no further summons have been issued unless fresh complaints are filed.
