A surprising case has emerged from the Chhattisgarh Board examination evaluation process, where several answer sheets contained emotional messages and unusual appeals instead of academic responses. Teachers checking the copies were taken aback after discovering that some students attempted to seek sympathy rather than secure marks through conventional answers.

Scale of Evaluation Completed

According to official information, the evaluation process for more than 2,66,000 answer sheets of both High School and Higher Secondary examinations has been completed. The board is now moving closer to announcing results. Despite the large volume of copies assessed, only a small number of answer sheets were found containing such emotional or non-academic content, though they attracted significant attention.

Unusual Appeals in Answer Sheets

In several instances, students replaced answers with personal appeals. One student wrote the entire Hanuman Chalisa, requesting that if the examiner is a devotee of Lord Hanuman, they should be granted passing marks. Another student made an emotional appeal mentioning an arranged marriage and requested 33 marks as a blessing for their future.

Some answer sheets included personal hardships, such as financial struggles, preparation for competitive exams like NEET, and family responsibilities, as reasons for poor performance. In one case, a student pleaded for passing marks to avoid disruption of their upcoming marriage.

Student Reasons Behind Emotional Requests

Several students justified their performance by citing lack of preparation due to competitive exam focus, while others pointed toward financial difficulties at home. A few students believed emotional or religious appeals might influence evaluators to be lenient during marking. These unusual attempts highlighted the pressure and anxiety faced by some candidates during board examinations.

Board Evaluation Context

Officials associated with the evaluation process noted that while such cases have been observed in previous years as well, the frequency remains relatively low this year. However, even a few such instances tend to draw attention due to their emotional and unconventional nature.

Examination Participation Statistics

This academic session saw more than 5.69 lakh students appearing for the board exams. Out of these, 3,23,687 students were registered for High School exams and 2,46,862 for Higher Secondary exams. Interestingly, the number of girl students exceeded boys in both categories, reflecting strong female participation in the state’s education system.
