The Madhya Pradesh BJP will launch its month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan on September 17, with party leaders announcing a wide-ranging programme of public outreach and service activities across the state to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Madhya Pradesh BJP president Hemant Khandelwal outlined the state-level programme at a joint press conference at the BJP office in Bhopal on Friday.

The campaign will run from September 17 to October 17. At the national level, the BJP has also announced a month-long Seva Sankalp campaign to mark Modi’s birthday and his 25 years in public service. October 7 marks 25 years since Modi first became Gujarat chief minister in 2001. 

Deepotsav at 68,000 Booths on September 17

Khandelwal said the campaign will begin at 7 pm on September 17, when the BJP plans to organise an “Aashirwad Ka Deep” initiative at around 68,000 booths across Madhya Pradesh.

According to the state BJP, lamps will be lit at the homes of beneficiaries as well as at prominent social, religious and cultural locations.

The symbolic lamp-lighting programme is part of the wider national campaign, under which BJP units in different states have also announced similar activities to mark Modi’s birthday and his public-service journey. 

Schools to Host ‘Mere Sapno Ka Bharat’

The campaign will also extend to government and private schools.

Under the “Mere Sapno Ka Bharat” programme, students will participate in activities such as drawing, painting and speech competitions. The BJP plans to take the programme from school level to block and district levels.

The focus will be on encouraging young participants to discuss their vision of a developed India.

The BJP has increasingly placed youth outreach among the key components of its national Seva Sankalp programme, with several activities planned around Modi’s 25-year public career. 

Street Plays to Highlight Modi’s Public Life

Another component announced in Madhya Pradesh is “Namo Seva Ankahani”, under which 10–15-minute theatrical presentations will be staged at public places and institutions.

The performances will focus on Modi’s 25 years in public life and the BJP’s account of policy and development changes during this period.

Special programmes will also be organised on October 2, according to the state BJP.

‘Aangan Milan’ Across 97,000-Plus Anganwadis

The party has also announced an “Aangan Milan” programme across more than 97,000 Anganwadi centres in Madhya Pradesh.

The three-day programme will include recognition of Anganwadi workers and helpers. Activities with children and mothers will focus on nutrition, health and information about government schemes concerning women and families.

The initiative is being presented by the state BJP as part of the campaign’s broader service-oriented component rather than solely as a political outreach exercise.

‘Seva Ki Kahani’ at 11,400 Shakti Kendras

The BJP will also organise “Seva Ki Kahani” programmes at around 11,400 Shakti Kendras.

According to Khandelwal, tableaux and short presentations will be used to highlight changes that the party says have taken place in India during Modi’s public career.

The programme will also seek to communicate the BJP’s account of the Union government's achievements over the past 12 years.

At the national level, the BJP has announced a broader set of programmes under the campaign, including welfare outreach, blood donation, cleanliness drives, exhibitions and youth-focused activities. 

CM Mohan Yadav Highlights Development and Connectivity

During the press conference, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav spoke about infrastructure and economic development in Madhya Pradesh.

He said the state will have six expressways and referred to the Pithampur-Mumbai corridor, describing it as an eight-lane expressway that is ready.

The Chief Minister is also scheduled to attend the Yatri Parivahan Vision Summit 2026 in Indore, where Madhya Pradesh is focusing on modernising passenger transport, improving connectivity and exploring public-private investment in mobility infrastructure. 

Yadav also referred to India's rising global influence and cited a 7.8% economic growth rate in his remarks.

BJP Links Campaign to Modi’s 25-Year Journey

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is being positioned by the BJP as a combination of public-service activities and outreach highlighting Modi's political journey.

The national campaign runs from September 17 to October 17 and includes programmes intended to showcase developments that the BJP associates with Modi's tenure as Gujarat chief minister and prime minister. 

For Madhya Pradesh, the scale of the programme—from booth-level lamp-lighting to activities at thousands of Anganwadi centres and Shakti Kendras—makes it a significant organisational exercise for the ruling party.

PM Modi Targets TMC in Siliguri Rally, Demands Accountability for Madrasa Funding

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday intensified the BJP’s campaign in North Bengal by addressing a public rally in Siliguri, accusing the Trinamool Congress government of neglecting regional development while allocating substantial funds for madrasas.

Siliguri, West Bengal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a large gathering in Siliguri on Sunday as part of his two-day visit to West Bengal ahead of the state Assembly elections. He asserted that the TMC’s exit from power after the polls was “certain” and criticised the ruling party for alleged discrimination against North Bengal.

Massive Roadshow TurnoutThe Prime Minister recalled his roadshow from Bagdogra to Siliguri on Saturday, which he said extended far beyond the planned short stretch due to overwhelming public participation. He described the response as deeply moving, noting the presence of people, including children, lining the route for over 15 kilometres. “This time, TMC’s departure from Bengal is certain,” Modi declared, crediting the public enthusiasm for what he called an extraordinary show of support.

Attack on Madrasa Funding

In his sharpest remarks, Modi targeted the TMC government over its allocation of around ₹6,000 crore for madrasas. He claimed the ruling party had prioritised its “vote bank” over the development needs of North Bengal, leading to administrative lapses even during recent natural disasters caused by heavy rainfall. 

“The budget of the ruthless TMC government is also an example of discrimination against North Bengal,” he said, adding that the party remained “busy day and night appeasing its own special vote bank.” Modi alleged that while funds flowed to madrasas, the region suffered from neglect in infrastructure and overall progress.

Call for 15-Year Accountability

The Prime Minister warned that after the elections, the TMC would have to account for its 15 years in power. “TMC people, listen carefully. After May 4, every moment of the past fifteen years will be accounted for. They will have to give an account of every penny,” he stated. He appealed directly to voters in Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts to support BJP candidates in all 12 assembly seats across the two areas.

Regional Political Context

Darjeeling district, with its five assembly seats currently held by the BJP, features a mix of Gorkha identity politics in the hills and urban-trade concerns in plains like Siliguri. Jalpaiguri remains a contest, with four seats held by TMC and three by BJP. Community dynamics involving Rajbanshi and Scheduled Tribe groups play a key role there.

The rally formed part of Modi’s broader campaign push in the state. On Saturday, he had addressed rallies in Katwa, Jangipur, and Kushmandi, followed by the Siliguri roadshow. Central forces have also stepped up presence, with armoured vehicles reported in parts of the state as polling approaches.

BJP’s Pitch in North Bengal

Modi’s visit highlighted the BJP’s focus on North Bengal, where it aims to consolidate gains. The party projects a “double-engine” government model as the solution to alleged misrule, promising better development and accountability. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath echoed similar sentiments in a separate rally in Bankura on Sunday, stressing the need for a strong government to tackle law-and-order issues.

West Bengal Assembly elections are scheduled in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with vote counting on May 4. The contests in North Bengal are seen as crucial for setting the momentum in the 294-member assembly.

What Lies Ahead

As campaigning intensifies, both major parties continue to trade charges. The TMC has previously countered similar criticisms with its own set of claims on governance and welfare. For now, Modi’s Siliguri address has energised BJP workers in the region, with the party hoping the visible public support translates into electoral gains in the upcoming polls.

This latest development in West Bengal politics underscores the high stakes in North Bengal, where development concerns, community aspirations, and governance records dominate the discourse in the run-up to the crucial state elections.
