In a shocking case of impersonation, a Young Man was arrested in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, for allegedly posing as a senior IAS officer to gain unauthorized VIP access at the Mahakaleshwar Temple. The accused attempted to secure special arrangements for the early morning Bhasma Aarti, a highly revered ritual that draws thousands of devotees daily.

Police identified the accused as Atul Kumar, a resident of Dwarkapuri in Delhi. He falsely claimed to be a Joint Secretary in the Aviation Ministry under the Government of India. Using this fabricated identity, he tried to exert pressure on officials to arrange VIP treatment at the temple.

Pressure Tactics at Circuit House

The accused did not limit his actions to the temple premises. He also managed to book two rooms at the Circuit House by misusing his fake designation. Staff members later revealed that he repeatedly avoided showing any official identification and instead relied on intimidation and influence tactics to get his way.

His suspicious behavior raised concerns among the staff, prompting them to verify his credentials independently.

Complaint Leads to Investigation

The matter came to light when a complaint was filed by an official associated with temple hospitality services. The complaint stated that the accused had demanded special arrangements for the Bhasma Aarti scheduled at 4 AM, citing his high-ranking position in the central government.

Mahakal Police Station in-charge Gagan Badal confirmed that the complaint triggered immediate action. Authorities called the accused for questioning after he failed to produce a valid identity card.

Truth Unravels During Interrogation

During interrogation, the accused continued to give vague responses and even attempted to mislead police by claiming that a letter from the High Court Registrar supported his request. He also tried to intimidate officials by stating that members of his family held IAS positions.

However, verification checks exposed all his claims as false. A direct inquiry with the Aviation Ministry confirmed that no such officer existed in the role he claimed.

Arrest and Further Investigation

Following the revelations, police arrested Atul Kumar for impersonation and fraud. Authorities are now investigating whether he has used similar tactics in other locations to gain benefits.

Officials are also examining the role of individuals who accompanied him and whether they were aware of the fraud.
