A major drug trafficking case has come to light in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, where police arrested two women involved in the illegal sale of ganja. The accused, who are real sisters, were allegedly operating under fake identities and running a well-organized supply network across different localities.

How the Operation Was Planned

The police action was initiated after receiving a credible tip-off about two women actively selling ganja in areas including Mopka, Patliputra Nagar, and Rajkishor Nagar. Following the input, the Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit (ACCU) joined hands with Sarkanda Police to lay a trap and catch the suspects red-handed.

During surveillance, officers confirmed suspicious movement of the accused and planned a coordinated raid to intercept them during a drug delivery operation.

Arrest During Active Drug Delivery

The raid was executed while the accused were moving narcotics using a car and scooters. Police caught both women in the act of transporting and distributing ganja. The swift action prevented further circulation of the contraband in the local market.

Recovery of Drugs, Cash, and Vehicles

A detailed search led to the recovery of around 6 kilograms of ganja along with a large amount of cash estimated at ₹5.98 lakh. In addition, police seized two scooters, a car, two mobile phones, and two wristwatches from their possession.

The total value of the seized items is reported to be approximately ₹15.78 lakh, indicating a well-established illegal business operation.

Identity Fraud and Double Names Revealed

During interrogation, police identified the accused as Manaki Kanwar alias Vinita Joshi, aged 30, and Sudama Kanwar alias Rani Yadav, aged 40. Both originally belong to the Mungeli area of Chhattisgarh and were residing in the Sarkanda region at the time of arrest.

Investigators revealed that the sisters were using different names to avoid police tracking and to continue their illegal trade without suspicion.

Previous Criminal History and Network Expansion

Authorities confirmed that both women had earlier been booked under the NDPS Act. It was also discovered that they used proceeds from drug sales to purchase vehicles, which were later used for distribution and transportation of narcotics.

Police suspect that this is not an isolated operation and that the duo may be connected to a larger drug supply chain. Efforts are now underway to identify other members of the network and trace the source of the narcotics.

Legal Action and Current Status

Following the arrest, both accused were produced before the court and subsequently sent to judicial custody. Police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of the trafficking ring and possible interstate connections.
