Doctors at the Government Medical College and Associated Hospital in Raigarh successfully removed an approximately 8-kg abdominal tumour from a 46-year-old woman in a high-risk surgery after the mass had become deeply attached to the intestines and was affecting surrounding organs.

The complex procedure was performed by a multidisciplinary team comprising specialists from the departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Surgery and Anaesthesia. The patient, identified as Champa Yadav from Jhalmala village, had reportedly been suffering from severe abdominal pain, swelling and vomiting for about a month before being admitted to the medical college on August 22.

Patient admitted in critical condition
