Durg theft cases spark concern as four incidents in a single day expose rising security gaps across multiple police station areas

Rising Theft Incidents

In a worrying development, Durg district reported four separate theft cases on April 14, raising serious concerns over public safety. The incidents were recorded across different थाना areas, with two cases emerging from Jamul and one each from Mohan Nagar and Padmanabhpur.

Police have registered FIRs in all cases and launched investigations, reviewing CCTV footage and tracking suspects. The spike in Durg theft cases has become a trending public interest story under the Latest News Today category.

Multiple Locations Targeted

According to officials, the thieves used varied methods, including breaking locks and even damaging walls to gain entry. Closed houses appeared to be the primary targets, indicating possible prior surveillance by the culprits.

Construction sites and parked vehicles were also not spared, highlighting the breadth of the incidents reported in this India News Update.

Lawyer’s House Theft

The first case was reported in Jamul थाना area by 61-year-old advocate Prem Prakash Yadav, a resident of Bhilai Sector-07. His under-construction house near Kailash Nagar Ekta Chowk was targeted.

He told police that after locking the storeroom on April 12 evening, he returned the next morning to find the lock broken and the wall partially damaged. Items including a water motor, cables, and cutting tools worth around ₹20,000 were stolen.

House Burgled During Absence

In another Jamul case, Simmu Shyam Lal Ahirwar, a resident of Amrapali Phase-2 Housing Board, reported a burglary while his family was away attending a wedding on April 13 evening.

They returned around 2:30 am to find the house ransacked. A gold chain from the पूजा area, ₹5,500 in cash, and an LCD television were missing. The total loss is estimated at ₹55,000.

Sources indicated that two additional houses in the same locality were targeted the same night, suggesting coordinated activity.

Scooter Theft Reported

The third incident took place in Mohan Nagar थाना limits. Jyoti Adil, who runs a beauty parlour in Deepak Nagar, reported the theft of her Activa scooter.

She had parked the vehicle outside her shop on the morning of April 11. When she returned around 5 pm, it was missing. Despite searching the area, no clues were found. The scooter is valued at approximately ₹26,000.

Closed House Targeted

In Padmanabhpur थाना area, a locked house in Dhanora village was broken into. The owner, Kanshiram Devangan, had been away in Pune since March 12.

The incident came to light when a domestic worker arrived on April 11 and noticed the broken latch. Upon inspection, valuables including silver idols, a pearl necklace, coins worth ₹1,400, and a wristwatch were found missing.

Police informed the homeowner, who returned on April 12 to assess the loss.

Police Action Underway

Police officials confirmed that all four cases are under active investigation. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being analysed, and suspect movements are being tracked.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant, especially when leaving homes unattended. Increased patrolling and surveillance measures are also being considered as part of Government Updates to curb such incidents.

Public Concern Grows

The sudden spike in Durg theft cases has unsettled residents, with many expressing concern over safety in residential areas. The incidents underline the need for stronger local policing and community awareness.

As per reports, officials are exploring preventive strategies, including neighbourhood watch systems and better lighting in vulnerable areas.

What Lies Ahead

With investigations ongoing, police are hopeful of identifying the culprits soon. Meanwhile, residents are being advised to install CCTV cameras and secure their properties.

The rise in Durg theft cases remains a key focus in Trending News India, reflecting broader concerns about urban safety in growing districts.
