Key Decisions Expected Today

A significant cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is underway at the state secretariat in Nava Raipur, Raipur, with several major administrative and policy decisions likely to be formalised by day's end. The meeting has drawn considerable attention from government employees, farmers, and administrative circles alike.

Transfer Ban Likely to Be Lifted

The most closely watched agenda item is the proposed new transfer policy for state government officials and employees. The existing freeze on transfers is expected to be lifted following cabinet approval of the fresh policy framework. If cleared, large-scale postings and transfers across departments could begin shortly, ending months of administrative uncertainty for government staff across Chhattisgarh.

Farmers' Issues on the Table

Agricultural matters also figure prominently in the day's agenda. The cabinet is set to review paddy procurement at minimum support price for the upcoming Kharif marketing year, along with the custom milling policy. Additionally, the availability of fertilisers and seeds for farmers during the current Kharif season is expected to be assessed. Several proposals linked to farming and agriculture may also receive formal approval during the meeting.

CM Helpline 1076 Launches Today

Coinciding with the cabinet session, the state government is launching its much-anticipated CM Helpline 1076 service. The rollout follows the conclusion of Suhasaan Tihar, the state's governance outreach initiative. Through the toll-free number 1076, residents across Chhattisgarh can now register complaints and grievances directly with the government.

Beyond phone calls, the helpline will be accessible via a dedicated web portal, a mobile application, and WhatsApp — broadening access for citizens in urban and rural areas alike. Officials claim the multi-channel grievance system will significantly streamline problem resolution for ordinary residents.

Suhasaan Tihar Feedback Under Review

The cabinet is also expected to discuss feedback and complaints gathered during the Suhasaan Tihar programme. The exercise, aimed at bringing administration closer to citizens, generated considerable public input that the government now plans to act upon.

Broader Agenda Spans Multiple Sectors

Beyond transfers and agriculture, proposals related to employees, industry, and various government departments are lined up for clearance. According to sources in the secretariat, the meeting is being viewed as a pivotal one for setting the administrative direction in the months ahead — particularly in terms of governance reforms and pro-farmer policy moves.

State government officials indicated that the decisions taken today would have direct bearing on departmental functioning and public service delivery across Chhattisgarh.

Under the Ram Lalla Darshan scheme, 36 devotees from Sakti district in Chhattisgarh were flagged off on Tuesday for a pilgrimage to Ayodhya Dham. The initiative, launched under the Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai government, aims to provide free and organized travel for devotees wishing to visit the Ram temple. The devotees were seen chanting religious slogans like “Jai Shri Ram” and “Jai Ayodhya Dham” as they began their journey with enthusiasm and devotion.

Government Pilgrimage Scheme

The Ram Lalla Darshan scheme is designed to facilitate safe and cost-free pilgrimage for selected devotees across the state. Officials said the initiative ensures that people from different districts get an opportunity to visit Ayodhya without financial burden. A special train arrangement has been made to transport pilgrims from various districts of Chhattisgarh. The Sakti district group includes selected participants from Sakti, Dabhra, Malkharauda, and Jaijaipur development blocks.

Administrative Coordination

The flag-off ceremony was organized at Kachahari Chowk in Sakti district under the supervision of district administration officials. Collector Amrit Vikas Topno directed the smooth departure of the pilgrims. Officials confirmed that a nodal officer has been appointed to accompany and supervise the group throughout their journey to ensure safety and coordination during the pilgrimage.

Devotees’ Emotional Response

Many devotees expressed happiness and gratitude, stating that the Ram Lalla Darshan scheme has fulfilled their long-standing dream of visiting Ayodhya Dham. For several participants, this is their first opportunity to travel outside the state for a religious pilgrimage. The initiative has been widely appreciated at the local level, with beneficiaries calling it a meaningful step toward promoting cultural and spiritual tourism.

Su-raj Tihar Initiative

In a separate development, the Sakti district administration also demonstrated a unique approach under the Su-raj Tihar 2026 campaign. Senior officials, including the Collector Amrit Vikas Topno, Superintendent of Police Prafull Thakur, and District Panchayat CEO Vasu Jain, traveled by bus to a public grievance redressal camp. The camp was held in Chapora village under Malkharauda block, where officials directly interacted with villagers and heard their concerns on the spot.

Symbol of Simplicity

The decision of senior officials to travel by bus was seen as a symbolic gesture inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on simplicity and efficient governance. Officials said the move reflects a shift towards reducing unnecessary administrative expenditure while promoting better coordination among departments.

Direct Public Interaction

During the grievance camp, officials engaged directly with residents, listened to their issues, and instructed concerned departments to resolve matters promptly. Various welfare schemes were also explained to eligible beneficiaries. The administration emphasized that real-time grievance resolution is a key focus under Su-raj Tihar 2026, ensuring that government services reach citizens effectively.

Welfare Scheme Delivery

Departments including revenue, health, agriculture, education, women and child development, food, and panchayat were present at the camp. Officials worked to provide on-the-spot solutions wherever possible. The initiative is aimed at reducing delays in service delivery and ensuring that villagers do not have to travel long distances for basic administrative work.

Cost Efficiency Push

District authorities highlighted that the initiative is also focused on reducing unnecessary administrative costs. By promoting shared travel and collective field visits, the administration aims to save fuel and time while improving inter-departmental coordination. Officials stated that such steps are part of a broader governance reform strategy being implemented across the district.

Continued Camps in District

Under the guidance of the state government, continuous grievance redressal camps are being organized across Sakti district as part of Su-raj Tihar 2026. These camps are providing a unified platform for citizens to access multiple government services in one place. Authorities said the combined approach of pilgrimage facilitation and grassroots governance reflects the state’s focus on welfare-driven administration.

The Ram Lalla Darshan scheme continues to gain traction as a key public welfare initiative, while parallel administrative reforms in Sakti district highlight a growing emphasis on simplicity, accessibility, and citizen-centric governance.

Five officials from Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Thermal Power Station, including Chief Chemist Govardhan Sidar, were found consuming alcohol in a government rest house in Korba, with bottles of liquor and beer recovered from the spot.

In a shocking incident, five senior officials of the DSPM Thermal Power Plant were caught drinking at a government guest house in Korba district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday evening. The matter came to light when local BJP workers, present at the same venue for a meeting with senior party leaders, noticed suspicious activity and raised an alarm.

According to reports, the officials were partying in one of the VIP rooms of the guest house. Empty and half-filled bottles of liquor along with beer cans and glasses were recovered from the room and the kitchen freezer. A video and photographs showing the scene have also surfaced, adding to the embarrassment for the power utility.

Incident During VIP Visit

The episode unfolded when former Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik was in Korba and a meeting was organised at the VIP guest house. Union Minister for Commerce and Industry in the state government, Lakhanlal Devangan, Korba Mayor Sanju Devi Rajput, and district BJP president Gopal Modi had reached the venue to meet him.

Local party workers informed the minister that loud noises and the strong smell of cigarette smoke were coming from one of the rooms. Upon checking, they found the DSPM officials, led by Chief Chemist Govardhan Sidar, consuming alcohol. Sidar himself serves as the in-charge of the guest house.

Minister Directs Strict Action

Sources indicated that the workers immediately brought the matter to the notice of Minister Lakhanlal Devangan. The minister promptly called the Managing Director of the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL), S.K. Katiyar, and instructed him to take strict action against the erring officials.

The MD has ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident and assured that disciplinary action would be taken against those found guilty. The case falls under the jurisdiction of the CSEB police station.

Recovery of Bottles and Cans

Eyewitnesses said the room was filled with cigarette smoke. Beer bottles and cans were found inside the refrigerator, while liquor bottles and used glasses lay on the table. Officials confirmed that several bottles were also recovered from the kitchen freezer.

This is not the first time such activities have been reported at the rest house, according to local accounts. However, the presence of senior power plant officials during an official visit by political leaders has drawn sharp criticism.

Background of the Power Plant

The Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Thermal Power Station is a key power generation facility in Korba, often referred to as the power hub of Chhattisgarh. The plant plays a crucial role in meeting the state's electricity demand. Any lapse in discipline among its officers raises questions about overall administrative standards at public sector undertakings.

Impact on Public Perception

The incident has triggered widespread discussion on social media and among locals. Many have questioned how government property is being misused for personal indulgence, especially when the same premises host important political and official meetings.

Such episodes often erode public trust in government institutions and fuel demands for greater accountability. In a state where power generation remains a critical sector, maintaining professional conduct among officials is seen as essential.

What Lies Ahead

The ongoing inquiry is expected to establish the sequence of events and fix responsibility. Authorities have indicated that the probe will be completed swiftly. Depending on the findings, the officials could face departmental proceedings, including suspension or major penalty.

Minister Devangan’s intervention has been welcomed by party workers, who expect firm steps to prevent recurrence. The CSPGCL management is also under pressure to send a strong message that misconduct, especially on government premises, will not be tolerated.

The development comes close on the heels of another reported alcohol party incident at an SBI office in Bijapur district, highlighting a broader concern over discipline in public offices across Chhattisgarh.

As the state focuses on industrial growth and reliable power supply, maintaining the highest standards of integrity in its power utilities has become more important than ever.
