A shocking incident of Rewa truck driver extortion surfaced on Saturday when a private broker at the Hanumana RTO check post tried to demand money from a driver. Refusing to pay, the truck driver drove off, forcing the broker to hold onto the moving vehicle for nearly 5 kilometres. Broker Tries to Extort Money at Check Post

According to reports, the incident took place on Saturday afternoon near the Hanumana RTO check post in Rewa district. Truck driver Sumit Patel was on his way toward Rewa when a man approached him demanding money in the name of document inspection.

Witnesses claim the broker attempted to intimidate the driver by speaking aggressively and repeatedly pressuring him for a payment. Despite this, Sumit Patel stood firm and refused to hand over any cash. In an unexpected move, the broker forcibly climbed onto the truck’s door as the driver started to move the vehicle forward.

Eyewitnesses and mobile footage reveal the broker struggling to maintain his balance while clinging to the moving truck. As the vehicle gained speed, the extortionist reportedly began pleading with the driver to stop and even touched his feet multiple times to apologise.

The scene unfolded over approximately five kilometres, drawing attention from passersby and fellow drivers who recorded the dramatic chase. Observers said the broker’s initial aggression quickly turned into fear as he begged the driver for mercy.

By Sunday morning, the video of the Rewa truck driver extortion attempt had spread widely across social media platforms. In the footage, the broker is seen repeatedly apologising to the driver while desperately clinging to the fast-moving truck.

Truck drivers in the region claim that such brokers are a common sight near the Hanumana RTO check post and other locations across the district. They reportedly demand money under the pretext of checking vehicle documents or clearance papers and often harass drivers who refuse to comply.

Truck Drivers Demand Action

Sumit Patel, the driver involved in the incident, told reporters that this was not his first encounter with such illegal demands. “These brokers keep asking for money every time we pass through. When we refuse, they misbehave or threaten to stop our vehicles,” he said.

Truck drivers’ associations in Rewa have urged authorities to take action and tighten monitoring at highway check posts. They allege that such extortion cannot continue without the involvement or negligence of certain officials.
