Pixar confirms ‘Toy Story 5’ for June 2026; plot to tackle modern tech

Pixar Animation Studios has officially dated the next chapter of its flagship franchise. Toy Story 5 is scheduled to hit Indian and global theaters on June 19, 2026. The storyline, as detailed in recent leaks, sees an eight-year-old Bonnie becoming obsessed with "Lilypad," a high-tech frog-like tablet that threatens the toys' existence.

Director Andrew Stanton has brought in a voice cast including Conan O’Brien as "Smarty Pants" and Greta Lee as the primary tech-antagonist, Lilypad. A particularly intriguing update involves Tim Allen voicing "Multi-Buzz"—a group of 50 high-tech Buzz Lightyear units that are accidentally stuck in "demo mode." This installment aims to explore the emotional fallout of toys who find themselves replaced by screens, a theme Pixar believes will resonate with modern parents and children alike.
