Milly Alcock to star in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as James Gunn’s DCU expands.

The newly formed DC Studios has officially greenlit Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow for a June 26, 2026 release. Starring Milly Alcock, the film is being marketed as a "punk rock" space epic that differentiates itself from the hopeful tone of the upcoming Superman film.

Director Craig Gillespie is reportedly utilizing a script that remains very faithful to the Tom King comic, emphasizing Kara’s survivalist instincts. Unlike her cousin Clark, this version of Kara Zor-El grew up on a drifting fragment of Krypton, watching her world die. The film will explore her journey across the stars alongside a young alien girl named Ruthye. DC heads James Gunn and Peter Safran have teased that the movie’s visual language will be "unlike anything seen in a superhero movie before," leaning into cosmic horror and high-fantasy aesthetics.
