The incident unfolded around 2 pm in the Atraela police station limits of Jawa tehsil. Initial reports indicate the man, a resident of Nai Basti in Dabhora police area, ignored warnings and stepped into the dangerous section for a video clip.

Friends Alert Police

Eyewitnesses said the group had arrived at the Itma Jal Kendra for a swim amid the summer heat. As he filmed himself in the churning waters, the strong current from the Ton River's release swept him away. "He was just posing for the reel when the water pulled him under," one friend recounted to reporters at the site.

Panicked companions raised the alarm with Atraela police within minutes. Officers rushed to the spot, about 30 km from Rewa city, and coordinated with nearby villagers experienced in such rescues.

Tense Rescue Effort

The operation lasted over 45 minutes, with rescuers using ropes and long poles to navigate the frothy rapids.
