A robbery investigation in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district has led to the arrest of six people, including the alleged mastermind, after police traced the group through a dispute over the distribution of stolen cash and jewellery. The Kota police said they have recovered the stolen property along with a pistol, a car, a motorcycle and six mobile phones.

The arrests relate to two incidents reported in the Kota area in July. In the first case, a railway employee carrying a collection of ₹7,430 was allegedly robbed near the Salka Dam area. Ten days later, a group allegedly entered a woman’s house wearing burqas and robbed her of gold jewellery after assaulting her and threatening her with a weapon. 

Railway Employee Robbed of ₹7,430

According to police, the first incident took place on July 8, 2026, when a railway employee was returning from Belgahna railway station with collection money.

The employee was allegedly targeted near the Salka Dam area at the Bade Barmaad Morh. The accused reportedly snatched his bag containing ₹7,430 and pushed him to the ground before fleeing.

Kota police registered a case and began investigating the incident, examining available evidence and statements while also developing information about possible suspects. 

Burqa Used During House Robbery

The second incident was reported on July 18 at the house of Rajkumari Jaiswal.

Police said the accused entered the house wearing burqas and allegedly assaulted the woman before threatening her with an air gun and taking gold ornaments. The stolen jewellery reportedly included three fruit-shaped pendants and two wheat-grain-shaped pieces, collectively valued at around ₹50,000.

A separate case was registered at Kota police station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. 

Dispute Among Suspects Led to Breakthrough

Police said the investigation gained momentum after a dispute among members of the alleged group.

On September 2, the suspects reportedly got into a fight near a petrol pump in Kota. One of those involved approached the police and lodged a complaint about the altercation.

During questioning, police allegedly learned that the dispute was connected to the distribution of the money and jewellery obtained through the robberies. Investigators then conducted searches at different locations and arrested all six accused.

Police subsequently claimed that the stolen property had been fully recovered.

Rakesh Jaiswal Named Alleged Mastermind

According to the police investigation, Rakesh Jaiswal, 35, of Manjgaon in Kota, allegedly planned the two incidents with Divyanshu Jaiswal and Adarsh Tiwari.

Police said the group required a firearm for the planned robberies and contacted Sunny Singh for assistance. According to investigators, Sunny took the group to Rewa in Madhya Pradesh, where a pistol was allegedly arranged through his brother.

The police have described Rakesh as the alleged mastermind. The allegations are part of the ongoing criminal investigation and will be subject to judicial proceedings.

Stolen Gold Allegedly Sold to Jeweller

Investigators also traced the disposal of the stolen jewellery.

Police said Harsh Namdev helped sell the gold ornaments to Harsh Soni, a jeweller from the Firingipara area. Both were subsequently arrested along with the alleged robbery suspects.

The six arrested accused were identified as Rakesh Jaiswal, Divyanshu Jaiswal, Adarsh Tiwari, Harsh Namdev, Harsh Soni and Sunny Singh. All were sent to judicial remand, according to police reports. 

Pistol, Car, Bike and Mobiles Recovered

Police said the operation resulted in the recovery of a pistol, gold ornaments, an Ertiga car, a motorcycle and six mobile phones. Reports citing the police said the recovered property represented the full amount of stolen material linked to the two cases.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Madhulika Singh and Kota SDOP Nupur Upadhyay. Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh also praised the police team and announced a cash reward for the personnel involved in the investigation. 

A Raipur court has acquitted gangster Aman Sahu and six other accused in a case related to an alleged conspiracy to commit robbery and extortion, citing the prosecution's failure to establish the charges during trial. The judgment was delivered on August 18, 2026, by the Third Additional District and Sessions Court in Raipur, according to the case information provided. Sahu had died in a police encounter in Jharkhand about 18 months earlier, but his name remained part of the criminal case registered at Ganj police station. The other accused were Rohit Swarnkar, Mukesh Kumar, Devendra Singh, Rajber Singh, Pappu Singh alias Papsa and Sunil Kumar alias Sunil Kumar Meena alias Mayank Singh.

The case was registered under IPC Sections 399, 402, 386 and 120-B. According to the prosecution's earlier account, Raipur Police had arrested four people in May 2024 on allegations that they were preparing to carry out a major criminal operation in the city and were connected to the Aman Sahu gang. Police had also linked the alleged planning to Mayank Singh, who was accused at the time of operating the gang from abroad. Rohit Swarnkar was reportedly arrested with a pistol and magazine, while Rajber Singh Chawla was later arrested in Madhya Pradesh in connection with the alleged supply of the weapon. The case also involved provisions of the Arms Act.

Prosecution Failed to Prove Charges

According to defence lawyer Dipankar Banerjee, the prosecution was unable to establish the alleged conspiracy, possession or role of the accused with sufficient evidence during the trial. Questions were also raised over the identity of the person whom police had linked to the case as Mayank Singh. The defence argued that the prosecution could not conclusively establish that the person identified in the investigation as Mayank Singh was the same person as Sunil Kumar Meena. The defence further maintained that the alleged recovery of weapons did not establish the charges against the accused to the required standard.

The court ultimately acquitted all seven accused. The case record reportedly carries the status “contested-acquitted”. However, the detailed judgment or order copy had not been uploaded on the court website at the time of the supplied report. Police had then claimed that Sahu attempted to escape and was killed during the ensuing exchange of fire. His death brought an end to the possibility of a trial against him personally, but the proceedings in the Raipur case continued in relation to the remaining accused and the legal record associated with the case.

The Ganj police case was initially heard from September 2024 and was subsequently transferred to the court that conducted the trial. The August 18 judgment now closes the case with the acquittal of all seven accused. With the detailed order still awaited, the available information indicates that the prosecution could not prove the alleged robbery and extortion conspiracy beyond the required legal standard. The development is significant because the case was among those in which Raipur Police had alleged links to the wider Aman Sahu gang network.

Police in Indore have intensified their investigation into the robbery of ₹30 lakh from a local scrap trader, with multiple teams reviewing CCTV footage collected from key markets, roads, and commercial areas across the city. Preliminary findings suggest that the crime was not random but the result of careful surveillance carried out by the accused before the robbery. Investigators believe the suspects tracked the trader's movements for nearly an hour after he received a large cash payment and waited for an opportunity to execute their plan. The incident, which occurred in the Pandharinath police station area, has raised concerns among traders and business owners about the safety of cash transactions. Authorities have deployed more than 25 police personnel to analyze footage and gather evidence as efforts continue to identify and apprehend the accused.

According to police officials, the victim, identified as Manay alias Mukesh Agrawal, a resident of Nihalpura, was allegedly targeted by criminals posing as police personnel.

Investigators said the suspects approached the businessman, took him along under the pretext of official action, and later escaped with a bag containing approximately ₹30 lakh in cash.

Followed From Vehicle Stand

The investigation has revealed that the accused first spotted the businessman in the vehicle stand area, where he reportedly received the payment.

Police believe the suspects immediately began tracking his movements after identifying that he was carrying a substantial amount of cash. CCTV footage collected from various locations reportedly shows individuals matching the suspects' descriptions following the trader through different parts of the city.

Officials said the accused maintained surveillance until they found a suitable opportunity to execute the robbery.

CCTV Evidence Provides Leads

A large-scale review of surveillance footage is underway. Teams have been examining recordings from commercial establishments, traffic intersections, and public areas to establish a clear timeline of events.

Investigators have reportedly identified the movement of the suspects in areas falling under the Kotwali police station limits as well. This has helped strengthen the theory that the robbery was pre-planned and involved detailed reconnaissance.

Police sources indicate that the suspects appeared familiar with the victim's routine and movements, suggesting they may have had prior information.

Associates Under Suspicion

Apart from tracking the external suspects, police are also examining whether individuals known to the businessman may have provided information about the cash transaction.

According to sources, investigators are questioning several people and looking into the possibility of insider involvement. Authorities have reportedly received information regarding two suspected criminals whose roles are currently being verified.

While no official arrests had been announced at the time of reporting, police teams continued search operations in areas including Gadi Adda and Juni Indore late into the night.

Business Community Concerned

The incident has sparked concern among traders and business owners who regularly handle large cash transactions. Market representatives have urged authorities to increase surveillance and strengthen security measures in commercial areas.

Police officials have assured that all available technological and human intelligence resources are being utilized to solve the case at the earliest.

Police in Chhattisgarh’s Gharghoda area have arrested a notorious criminal who had been absconding for several months after allegedly assaulting and robbing a daily wage worker. The accused, identified as Mohsin Khan alias Bhuru Pathan, was already listed under police surveillance due to his previous criminal activities. He was arrested following a tip-off received by the police.

The case has once again raised concerns about rising street crimes linked to substance abuse and repeat offenders in the region. Police officials said the accused had a long criminal history involving theft, robbery, and multiple law and order violations.

Laborer Attacked While Returning From Work

According to police, Arun Kumar Ekka, a resident of Sitapur area, works as a laborer in Gharghoda. On the night of October 21, 2025, around 8:30 PM, he was returning to his pickup vehicle after finishing work.

As he reached near Gupta Hotel in Ward Number-2, the accused allegedly stopped him on the road. Witnesses and police reports suggest that the accused was under the influence of intoxicants and began demanding money from the worker. When Arun refused to give him money, the accused allegedly started abusing him verbally before physically assaulting him. During the altercation, the accused forcefully removed ₹500 from the worker’s shirt pocket. Police said the accused also tried to snatch Arun’s mobile phone. During the struggle, the phone fell to the ground and broke completely.

Accused Had Been Absconding Since Incident

After committing the crime, the accused fled from the spot and remained absconding for several months. The victim later lodged a complaint at Gharghoda Police Station, after which a case was registered and investigation began.

Police teams conducted raids at several suspected hideouts, but the accused continued to evade arrest by frequently changing locations. Authorities said they had been tracking his movements for a long time. Finally, on Thursday night, police received information from an informer that the accused had returned to his village. Acting quickly on the tip-off, police surrounded the area and arrested him successfully.

Long Criminal History Revealed

During investigation, police confirmed that Mohsin Khan alias Bhuru Pathan has a long criminal background. Records show that he was involved in a theft case in 2008 and later faced action in a robbery case in 2010. Due to repeated involvement in criminal activities, authorities had also externed him from the district in 2015 under preventive action. Despite previous legal action, the accused allegedly continued engaging in unlawful activities. Police officials stated that he had been under surveillance for years and was considered a habitual offender in the area.

Residents Express Relief After Arrest

Local residents welcomed the arrest and said the accused had created fear among laborers and common citizens. People from the locality claimed he frequently threatened individuals, demanded money, and often created disturbances while intoxicated. Several residents said many victims avoided reporting incidents out of fear of retaliation. The latest arrest has brought a sense of relief to the community, especially among workers who travel late in the evening after work. Citizens have demanded strict legal action against repeat offenders so that such incidents do not recur in the future.

Police are now questioning the accused to determine whether he was involved in other crimes in the area. Officials are also investigating who may have helped him during his period of absconding. Authorities believe more information may emerge during interrogation regarding other criminal activities and associates connected to the accused. Police have appealed to citizens to immediately report suspicious activities or crimes so timely action can be taken to maintain law and order.

A major jewellery theft case in Raipur took a dramatic turn after the main accused allegedly died by suicide during the police investigation into a Rs 90 lakh robbery at a jewellery showroom in Shankar Nagar. Police said the accused reportedly hanged himself inside his residence after learning that his associate had been detained. The incident has drawn significant public attention due to the scale of the theft, the rapid police investigation, and the suspected suicide of the main accused shortly after the crime. Officials confirmed that a minor accused connected to the case has been taken into custody and jewellery worth nearly Rs 10 lakh has been recovered.

Theft at Jewellery Shop

According to police officials, the theft took place late Saturday night at Lakshya Jewellery Shop located in Raipur’s Shankar Nagar area. Two masked accused allegedly arrived on a motorcycle and entered the showroom after cutting the lock using a metal cutter. Investigators said the accused remained inside the showroom for nearly half an hour and specifically targeted gold jewellery. Silver ornaments and artificial jewellery reportedly remained untouched during the incident. Since the showroom remained closed on Sunday, the theft came to light only on Monday morning after the shop owner reopened the establishment.

CCTV Captures Accused

Police teams reached the spot soon after receiving information regarding the theft. CCTV footage collected from the showroom reportedly showed the accused calmly filling bags with jewellery before fleeing from the location. Senior officers from the North Zone police supervised the initial investigation while forensic teams examined the crime scene for evidence. Officials stated that the accused appeared familiar with the shop layout and had likely planned the operation in advance after conducting surveillance of the area.

Sniffer Dog Leads Investigation

During the investigation, police called forensic experts and dog squad teams to trace the suspects. Officials said the sniffer dog followed a trail from the jewellery shop to the Gandhi Nagar-Kali Nagar road area located nearly 1.5 kilometres away.

Based on this lead, police intensified searches in nearby localities and began scanning CCTV footage from several areas including Shankar Nagar, Abhanpur, and Chandkhuri. Authorities later reviewed more than 300 CCTV clips as part of the investigation to identify movement patterns and possible escape routes used by the accused.

Minor Accused Arrested

Police confirmed that one minor accused was detained from the Kali Nagar area within nearly 12 hours of the theft investigation. Officials stated that jewellery worth around Rs 10 lakh was recovered from his possession.

Investigators suspect that the accused were habitual offenders who had allegedly attempted thefts in other locations earlier as well. Police sources indicated that interrogation of the detained accused revealed details regarding planning of the robbery and movement after the crime.

Party in Gariaband Revealed

According to investigators, after carrying out the theft, both accused reportedly travelled to Panduka area in Gariaband district where they allegedly spent time partying before returning to Raipur late at night. Police believe the accused separated after news of the theft spread publicly on Monday morning. Sources stated that the main accused allegedly kept most of the stolen jewellery and planned to dispose of it separately. Investigators are currently tracing the remaining stolen ornaments and checking whether any receivers or middlemen were connected to the accused.

Main Accused Found Dead

Police said teams later reached the residence of the main accused during search operations. Officers reportedly found the house locked from outside initially, raising suspicion. After further inspection, police discovered that the accused had allegedly died by suicide inside the house. Investigators suspect he became frightened after learning that his associate had been caught by police.

Authorities stated that the accused lived with his sisters and did not have surviving parents. Family members, however, have denied his involvement in the robbery and claimed he was being falsely implicated in the case. Police have initiated proceedings related to the unnatural death and further investigation is underway.

Shop Was Under Surveillance

Investigators revealed that the accused had allegedly conducted reconnaissance of the jewellery showroom for nearly two days before carrying out the robbery. Police said the accused parked their motorcycle near a hospital and then walked towards the showroom during the night. After cutting the shutter lock, they reportedly entered the premises around 2:19 am and escaped within nearly 20 minutes carrying bags filled with jewellery. Officials believe the operation was carefully planned and executed with prior knowledge of shop routines.

Security Concerns Raised

The incident has once again raised concerns regarding security arrangements at jewellery establishments in urban areas. Police officials disclosed that the showroom owner had earlier been advised to strengthen security systems and install a central locking mechanism. Despite the advisory, the accused managed to execute the theft successfully. Authorities are now examining whether any additional lapses contributed to the incident. Police said efforts are continuing to recover the remaining stolen jewellery and identify possible links connected to the theft network.

The Raipur jewellery theft case remains under active investigation, with police continuing interrogation of the detained accused and examination of forensic evidence.
