A 28-year-old passenger was critically injured after falling from the Ahmedabad-Patna Express near Dabhoura railway station on Saturday. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident, which reportedly involved an altercation among passengers.

The injured passenger, identified as Karan Kumar Saini, a native of Patna in Bihar, was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Smriti Hospital in Rewa where he continues to receive treatment. Hospital sources described his condition as serious but stable.

Argument Turned Violent

According to initial information gathered by the Government Railway Police (GRP), a dispute broke out between some passengers inside a coach of the Ahmedabad-Patna Express while the train was moving through Rewa district. The situation escalated quickly, leading to physical pushing and shoving.

Saini, who was seated nearby, lost his balance during the scuffle. In his statement recorded at the hospital, he alleged that a co-passenger deliberately kicked him, causing him to fall off the train.

What the Injured Passenger Said

"I was sitting in the train when some people next to me started fighting. Suddenly, a person kicked me and I fell straight down from the train," Saini told GRP personnel from his hospital bed.

The incident occurred near Dabhoura railway station. Local residents who witnessed the fall immediately alerted railway authorities and the GRP.

Rescue and Hospitalisation

A team of GRP officers reached the spot shortly after receiving the information. The injured passenger was found in a serious condition and rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Smriti Hospital in Rewa. Doctors attending to him said he has sustained multiple injuries, though they declined to comment on long-term prognosis.

Investigation Underway

GRP officials confirmed that they have begun a formal investigation into the matter. Teams are questioning passengers who were travelling in the same coach to reconstruct the sequence of events.

"We are trying to determine what exactly triggered the argument and whether the passenger fell accidentally or was pushed deliberately. All facts will be examined before any action is taken," a GRP officer said.

Police are also reviewing passenger lists and attempting to trace individuals who may have witnessed the altercation.

Passenger Concerns

The incident has raised concerns among passengers travelling on the Ahmedabad-Patna Express route, with some questioning security arrangements inside coaches during overnight journeys. Railway officials have not yet issued a formal statement on the matter.

The GRP has assured that appropriate legal action will follow once the investigation establishes the facts. Saini remains under medical observation, with doctors monitoring his condition closely.

At least 30 people were confirmed dead and more than 70 others injured after a powerful explosion hit the Jaffar Express near the Chaman Gate on the outskirts of Quetta city in Pakistan's Balochistan province late on Sunday.

Officials confirmed the blast was a suicide attack targeting the railway track. The explosion was so intense that it derailed several coaches of the passenger train, which was on its way to Quetta Cantt at the time. Visuals from the site show overturned bogies and a fire burning near the tracks, with thick smoke rising into the evening sky.

Casualties Mount

Rescue teams and police rushed to the scene shortly after the blast. “The death toll has risen to 30, and more than 70 injured have been shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta,” a local official said, adding that several among the injured were in critical condition. The blast also shattered window panes of nearby buildings, officials added.

Fire brigade units managed to douse the flames that had engulfed the tracks. A relief and rescue operation is currently underway, though authorities have appealed to the public not to crowd the site to allow teams to work freely.

Scene of the Blast

The explosion occurred near a sensitive security zone. Initial reports indicate the train was moving at a normal speed when the blast derailed the engine and at least four bogies. Footage circulating on social media shows passengers in a state of panic, with some climbing out of the wreckage.

Security agencies have cordoned off the entire area. “All security agencies have been put on high alert. We are investigating the nature of the explosive used,” said Babar Yusufzai, special assistant to the Balochistan government for home affairs.

No Immediate Claim

No organisation has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, security officials are treating it as a planned terrorist strike. The Jaffar Express, a flagship long-distance train of Pakistan Railways, connects Quetta to other major cities but passes through several volatile areas where militant groups are known to be active.

A History of Violence

This is not the first time the Jaffar Express has been targeted. The train runs through regions where the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has a strong presence. Last year, the BLA had hijacked the same train, claiming to have taken over 200 passengers hostage.

The BLA, which seeks independence from the Pakistani government, has grown in influence since the 1970s. The group opposes what it calls the forced exploitation of Balochistan’s resources by the state and Chinese interests. Pakistan listed the BLA as a terrorist organisation in 2007.

Pakistan’s Terror Surge

The attack comes at a time when Pakistan ranks second on the Global Terrorism Index 2025, behind only Burkina Faso. According to the report, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan account for 90% of all terror incidents in the country, with attacks by the Baloch Army rising by 60% in the past year. The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) saw a 90% increase in attacks during the same period.

Authorities in Quetta said an investigation into Sunday’s blast is ongoing, with forensic teams collecting evidence from the railway track.

Early morning blaze in AC coach triggers emergency response; no casualties reported

A fire erupted in an AC coach of the Thiruvananthapuram-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express (12431) during the early hours of Sunday, forcing authorities to temporarily suspend traffic along the busy Delhi-Mumbai rail route.

Fire Breaks Out

The incident occurred around 5:15 am between Luniricha and Vikramgarh Alot stations in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam district, before the premium train could cross into Rajasthan. According to railway officials, the fire started in coach B1 of the train.

Emergency hooters were immediately sounded at Kota Junction following initial reports. Rescue and relief teams were dispatched to the location without delay.

Passengers Evacuated

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Jain confirmed that 68 passengers were onboard the affected coach. "No casualties or injuries have been reported so far," he said.

The train guard first noticed the fire and promptly alerted the loco pilot, officials said. The train was brought to an immediate halt, and railway staff managed to evacuate all passengers from the affected compartment within approximately 15 minutes.

Despite the swift evacuation, flames spread rapidly through the coach within minutes.

Delhi-Mumbai Route Hit

Rail traffic on the crucial Delhi-Mumbai corridor was temporarily stopped as a precautionary measure following the blaze. The train's power supply was disconnected, and the affected coach was detached from the rest of the train.

The Rajdhani Express had departed from Ratlam Junction at around 3:45 am on Sunday, with its next scheduled halt at Kota Junction at 8:45 am. The fire broke out near Vikramgarh Alot station before the train could reach Rajasthan.

Investigation Underway

Senior officers and technical teams from the Kota railway division have reached the site. Restoration work is currently underway, though officials did not provide a timeline for when normal traffic would resume on the route.

Railway authorities have launched an investigation to determine what caused the fire in the AC coach. Initial reports indicate the blaze engulfed two coaches of the train before it could be brought under control.
