Rohini Acharya Questions RJD Action Against Spokesperson, Internal Rift Comes to Fore

Patna: Fresh signs of internal discord have surfaced within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) after party leader Rohini Acharya publicly reacted to the expulsion of party spokesperson Harelal Yadav, triggering a new political debate in Bihar.

The controversy erupted after disciplinary action was taken against Harelal Yadav, who was reportedly removed from the party over remarks and activities considered inconsistent with the party's official position. While the RJD leadership has maintained that organizational discipline is paramount, the decision has drawn criticism from within the party ranks.

Rohini Acharya, daughter of former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav, openly questioned the move and expressed support for the expelled spokesperson. In a strongly worded response, she reportedly said that if expressing certain views amounts to indiscipline, action should first be taken against her.

Her remarks quickly gained political attention, with opposition parties and political observers viewing them as an indication of differences within the party at a crucial time. The development comes as the RJD seeks to strengthen its position in Bihar's evolving political landscape and prepare for future electoral challenges.

Party insiders suggest that the dispute reflects broader conversations within the organization about communication strategy, internal democracy and the handling of dissenting voices. However, senior RJD leaders have largely refrained from commenting publicly on the matter.

The episode has once again highlighted the challenges faced by major political parties in balancing organizational discipline with differing opinions among members. Political analysts note that internal disagreements are not uncommon in large parties, but public expressions of dissent often attract significant attention because they can influence perceptions of unity and leadership control.

Opposition leaders have seized upon the controversy, claiming it exposes divisions within the RJD. Party supporters, on the other hand, argue that debates within political organizations are natural and do not necessarily indicate a deeper crisis.

The RJD leadership has not issued any detailed public response to Rohini Acharya’s remarks so far. Whether the party chooses to address the issue internally or make an official clarification remains to be seen.

The development is significant because Rohini Acharya has emerged as a prominent political voice in recent years, frequently commenting on party affairs and political developments. Her intervention has ensured that what might have remained an internal disciplinary matter has now become a broader political discussion.

As reactions continue from party workers and political rivals, attention is likely to remain on how the RJD leadership responds and whether the controversy has any lasting impact on the party’s internal dynamics.

Bihar Makes Online Leave Applications Mandatory for Government Employees, Ends Paper-Based System

In a major administrative reform aimed at digitising government services, the Bihar government has made online leave applications compulsory for all state government employees. From July 1, government officials and staff can no longer apply for leave through paper-based applications, as the entire process has now been shifted to a digital platform.

The General Administration Department has issued instructions directing employees to use the Human Resource Management System (HMRS) portal or mobile application for all types of leave applications. The new rule covers Casual Leave (CL), Earned Leave (EL), and other categories of leave available to government employees.

Officials said the move is part of the state's broader effort to improve governance through technology and reduce dependence on manual paperwork. Under the new system, leave requests submitted through traditional handwritten or printed applications will no longer be accepted.

To use the facility, employees must first register themselves on the HMRS platform by downloading the mobile application or accessing the online portal. Once registered, they can submit leave requests digitally from any location without visiting their office to file an application.

The approval process has also been integrated into the online system. Concerned officers will review applications electronically and either approve or reject them through the HMRS platform. This means the complete workflow—from application submission to final approval—will be handled digitally.

Government officials believe the change will significantly improve efficiency in personnel management. Employees will be able to track the status of their leave requests in real time and receive updates regarding approvals or pending applications without relying on manual communication.

The transition is also expected to reduce delays that often occur in traditional file-based processing. Since applications will be available instantly to authorized officers, decisions can be made more quickly, improving overall administrative functioning.

Another key feature of the new system is the creation of a comprehensive digital leave record for every employee. The HMRS platform will automatically maintain details of leave availed, remaining leave balance, pending requests and past approvals. This information will be accessible whenever required, eliminating the need to search through physical records.

Administrative experts view the move as an important step toward modernising human resource management in government departments. Digital records not only improve transparency but also help departments monitor workforce availability and plan staffing requirements more effectively.

The Bihar government has increasingly focused on technology-driven governance initiatives in recent years. The mandatory online leave system aligns with broader efforts to enhance accountability, improve service delivery and streamline administrative processes across departments.

Employees are expected to benefit from the convenience offered by the system. Instead of preparing physical applications and obtaining signatures through multiple levels, staff members can complete the process using a smartphone or computer. This is particularly useful for employees posted in remote areas or those requiring urgent leave approvals.

Officials have also indicated that the digital platform will help reduce paperwork and administrative costs over time. By maintaining centralized records, departments can improve data management while ensuring greater transparency in leave administration.

With the new rules now in effect, government employees across Bihar are being encouraged to complete their HMRS registration and familiarize themselves with the online process. The administration expects the transition to create a more efficient, transparent and technology-enabled leave management system for the state's workforce.

A first information report has been registered against Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tej Pratap Yadav in Patna following a complaint by Akash Yadav, brother of Anushka Yadav, who has been at the centre of a months-long controversy involving the former Bihar minister. The case alleges forced entry into the family's residence, criminal intimidation, and phone threats — including one in which the caller claimed to represent jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

According to the complaint, the incident at the family's home in Patliputra colony took place on 6 June. Akash alleged that Tej Pratap and his associate Motilal Yadav arrived at the property and attempted to force their way in, threatening family members present at the time. Akash himself was away visiting Khatushyam when the alleged intrusion occurred.

What followed, according to Akash, was a series of threatening phone calls. One caller, who identified himself as Mohit, allegedly told him: "I am Lawrence Bishnoi's man. Think carefully before speaking against Tej Pratap." Akash has claimed that recordings of these calls have been submitted to police as evidence, and that Tej Pratap himself allegedly spoke during one call, suggesting no FIR could be filed against him given his political standing. Motilal Yadav, he claimed, separately warned him to keep the events of 6 June secret.

The path to the FIR was not straightforward. Akash alleged he submitted a written complaint at Patliputra police station as early as 10 June but that no case was registered at the time. He subsequently moved Patna Civil Court on 17 June, after which proceedings began and police registered the FIR. Patna ASP Divyanjali Jaiswal confirmed the complaint had been received and said investigators are now examining voice notes, call records and other material placed on record — including calls allegedly traced to a US-based number.

The controversy involving Tej Pratap and Anushka Yadav stretches back to May 2025, when a post appeared on Tej Pratap's Facebook account claiming the two had been in a relationship for twelve years. The post was deleted soon after, and Tej Pratap maintained his account had been hacked and the photographs doctored. The issue resurfaced sharply in February when Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi posted a congratulatory message on X following the reported birth of Anushka's daughter. Tej Pratap denied paternity at a press conference the same evening.

Since then, the RJD leader has alleged that a group of five individuals — naming Mukesh Roshan, Sanjay Yadav, Rameez, Shakti Singh and Sunil Singh — orchestrated a campaign to defame him by hacking his accounts and circulating manipulated content. He has described the entire episode as a bid to damage his reputation as he works toward establishing his own political platform. In a post on X, Tej Pratap called the FIR a political conspiracy.

He has also announced plans to pursue legal action against those he believes are behind the allegations, drawing a parallel with his father Lalu Prasad Yadav's legal battles. The investigation is ongoing.

SKMCH Undergoes NMC Inspection for Proposed Increase in MBBS Seats to 170

National Medical Commission team reviews infrastructure, faculty strength, and clinical facilities as Sri Krishna Medical College seeks expansion of undergraduate medical seats.

Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) underwent an extensive inspection by a team from the National Medical Commission (NMC) on Thursday as part of its proposal to increase MBBS seats from 120 to 170. The inspection, which lasted nearly 12 hours, focused on evaluating whether the institution meets the academic, infrastructural, and clinical requirements necessary for accommodating a larger intake of medical students.

The NMC delegation comprised Dr. Rajiv Nehra, Dr. Laxmikant Bharti, and Dr. Sanjay Meena. The team began its assessment around 8 a.m. and continued until approximately 8 p.m., reviewing multiple departments within both the medical college and the associated hospital.

According to officials, the inspection was conducted following SKMCH’s formal application seeking approval for the enhancement of undergraduate medical seats. The commission will prepare a detailed assessment report before taking a final decision on the proposal.

Faculty and Infrastructure Assessment

A major focus of the inspection was the institution’s academic infrastructure and faculty availability. The NMC team visited departments including Anatomy, Pharmacology, Pathology, and Microbiology to assess teaching facilities and departmental preparedness.

Faculty members and medical staff underwent physical verification, while biometric attendance records were examined to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The evaluators reviewed faculty strength, teacher-student ratios, laboratory facilities, lecture halls, demonstration rooms, and other essential academic resources.

Officials also assessed whether the institution adheres to the infrastructure standards prescribed by the National Medical Commission for an expanded student intake.

Clinical Exposure and Hospital Services

The inspection extended beyond classrooms and laboratories, with significant attention given to hospital operations and patient care services. The team inspected the Outpatient Department (OPD), Inpatient Department (IPD), emergency units, operation theatres, and diagnostic facilities.

Records related to surgical procedures in Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, and Gynaecology departments were scrutinized. Inspectors also verified patient admission records and clinical workload, both of which are critical indicators of the practical training opportunities available to medical students.

The Radiology Department, including CT Scan and MRI facilities, was reviewed alongside the central library and other learning resources. The objective was to determine whether SKMCH has adequate hospital beds, modern medical equipment, and sufficient patient inflow to support an increased number of MBBS students.

Positive Outlook from College Administration

Following the inspection, SKMCH authorities expressed optimism regarding the outcome. Principal Prof. Dr. Kumari Vibha stated that the inspection team appeared satisfied with the institution’s infrastructure and operational arrangements.

She said the college has made significant efforts to strengthen its academic and healthcare facilities in anticipation of the proposed expansion. According to college officials, increasing the MBBS intake would enable the institution to contribute more effectively to the growing demand for qualified medical professionals in Bihar.

Missing Mother Reunites With Daughter After 11 Months in Bhilai

A woman from Bihar’s Bhagalpur reunited with her missing mother after 11 months when a call from a Bhilai-based ashram finally ended the family’s long search.

An emotional reunion between a daughter and her missing mother in Chhattisgarh’s Bhilai has drawn widespread attention after an 11-month-long search finally came to an end. Pooja, a resident of Bhagalpur in Bihar, reunited with her mother Babita Devi at a local ashram in Bhilai after months of uncertainty, police visits and desperate efforts to trace her. The emotional meeting left family members, ashram workers and onlookers in tears as the mother and daughter embraced each other after nearly a year apart.

According to family members, 65-year-old Babita Devi had left her home on June 3, 2025, saying she was travelling to her maternal home in Jagatpur and would return within 10 days. However, she never came back. Initially, the family believed she may have stayed back for a few extra days, but as weeks passed without any information, concern began turning into fear. Her daughter Pooja then started an extensive search across several districts in Bihar, visiting railway stations, bus stands, temples and old-age homes in the hope of finding her mother.

Pooja said she travelled across Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnia and Naugachia carrying her mother’s photographs. Posters were printed and pasted in public places while repeated appeals were made to local police stations. She claimed she visited nearly every possible location where her mother could have been found. Despite continuous efforts, no clue emerged for several months. Family members slowly began losing hope as the search stretched from days into months.

During this difficult period, Pooja reportedly visited Vrindavan and Mathura seeking spiritual guidance. She later met spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj and shared details about her missing mother. According to Pooja, she was advised to perform a special prayer ritual daily with faith and patience. She said she continued the prayers regularly for nearly three hours each day while still trying to search for her mother through every possible means.

The breakthrough reportedly came unexpectedly on May 11 this year when Pooja received a phone call while she was at a coaching institute. The call informed her that her mother had been found at the ‘Feel Parmartham’ Ashram in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. Police officials from Banka district reportedly coordinated with the ashram after receiving information related to Babita Devi’s identity. The call immediately changed the situation for the family, which had almost accepted the possibility that they might never find her.

Pooja said she immediately decided to travel to Bhilai despite not having a confirmed railway reservation. She boarded the South Bihar Express in the general compartment and travelled overnight to Chhattisgarh. According to her, the journey was physically exhausting due to heat and overcrowding, but her focus remained only on meeting her mother after nearly a year of separation.

The emotional reunion took place when Pooja reached the Bhilai-based ‘Feel Parmartham’ Ashram. Witnesses present at the ashram said the daughter ran toward her mother and hugged her tightly while both broke down in tears. Pooja was also seen touching her mother’s feet as several people present at the location became emotional watching the reunion. Videos and photographs from the meeting quickly circulated on social media and attracted widespread public attention.

Ashram members later explained that Babita Devi had been found wandering near the Kachandur Mod area close to Bhilai several months earlier. Since she was unable to clearly remember her address or family details, the ashram provided her shelter, food and care. According to the ashram staff, Babita Devi repeatedly said she wanted to return home but could not recall complete information about her family. The only phrase she consistently remembered was “Jagatpur Banka,” which eventually became the key clue in tracing her relatives.

After connecting the clue with local authorities, police and ashram volunteers managed to identify and contact Pooja. Family members described the reunion as nothing short of miraculous. Pooja publicly thanked the ashram management for caring for her mother during the difficult period and ensuring her safety. She stated that the ashram had returned her “entire world” back to her.

Pooja also revealed that she never saw her father, who was allegedly kidnapped before her birth.
