The death of actress Twisha Sharma in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area has triggered a wave of shock, grief, and controversy, with new statements from her co-stars and family members adding multiple layers to the ongoing investigation. Twisha, who reportedly died by suicide on May 11, was the daughter-in-law of a former judge, Giribala, and had worked in a few regional films and advertisements during her brief acting career.

The case gained widespread attention after alleged WhatsApp chats of the actress surfaced online, in which she reportedly expressed emotional distress and feelings of isolation. Following this, her family staged protests and accused her in-laws of harassment and dowry-related abuse, demanding a thorough investigation into her death.

Amid the growing controversy, actor Dixit Shetty, who worked with Twisha in the film Mugguru Monagallu, has now shared his perspective on the actress’s life and aspirations. In an interview, he described her as a dedicated and energetic individual who was passionate about her work but unsure about her long-term future in the film industry.

“She was very hardworking and full of life. It is extremely shocking to hear what has happened,” Shetty said. “I did not even know she was married. We worked together only once, and after that she went back to her family.”

He further claimed that Twisha had expressed a desire to return to academics. According to him, she was planning to pursue higher studies, particularly a master’s degree, as she felt that acting might not be the right path for her. “She had told me that she wanted to study further. She felt that acting was not what she had expected it to be. She also mentioned that she wanted to settle down with her family and rethink her career choices,” he added.

Twisha Sharma, originally from Noida, had completed her MBA before stepping into modelling and acting. She had reportedly won titles in beauty pageants and appeared in a few regional films, including Zara Sambhal Ke (2018) and Mugguru Monagallu (2021). However, her career in the entertainment industry did not achieve significant success, after which she is said to have taken up a corporate job in Delhi.

It was during her time in Delhi that she reportedly met advocate Samarth Singh through a dating application. The two developed a relationship and later got married in December 2025 with the consent of both families. However, within just five months of marriage, Twisha’s life came to a tragic end.

On May 12, her family was informed about her death. They immediately raised allegations against her husband’s family, claiming that she had been subjected to harassment and possible foul play. A formal complaint was registered, and the case soon escalated into a police investigation. Following the complaint, Twisha’s mother-in-law, a former judge, was arrested but later granted bail. Meanwhile, the husband has reportedly gone missing and remains untraceable.

Adding further complexity to the case, Twisha’s WhatsApp messages have surfaced, in which she allegedly wrote to her mother expressing emotional distress. In one of the messages, she reportedly said she felt suffocated and emotionally trapped, adding that she was neither allowed to cry nor laugh freely. These messages have now become a key part of the investigation.

Reports also suggest that Twisha had undergone a medical termination of pregnancy shortly before her death, although official confirmation is still awaited. Meanwhile, the in-laws have made counter-allegations, claiming that she was struggling with substance use and would often leave home for long hours without informing anyone.

A CCTV footage has also emerged, allegedly showing Twisha going alone to the terrace on the night of the incident. Shortly after, visuals reportedly show people bringing her body down, which has intensified calls for a detailed forensic and legal investigation.

As the investigation continues, authorities are examining all possible angles, including personal disputes, mental health concerns, and allegations of domestic conflict. Police officials have not yet issued a final conclusion, stating that the case is still under active review.

The incident has sparked a broader conversation about mental health pressures, relationship stress, and the challenges faced by individuals transitioning between public careers and private life. Social media has also been divided, with some users demanding strict legal action while others urge restraint until official findings are released.
