A 23-year-old newly married woman allegedly died by suicide in Gwalior on Wednesday afternoon, barely 25 days after her marriage. The incident took place in the Murar police station area near Geru Wala Bangla on Hurawali Link Road, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

The deceased, identified as Megha alias Jyoti, was found hanging inside a room at her parental home. Family members rushed her to Jayarogya Hospital (JAH), where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Police officials said no suicide note has been recovered so far, and the exact reason behind the incident remains unclear.

Incident Reported In Murar Area

According to police sources, the incident occurred on Wednesday while the woman was staying at her parents’ house in the Murar locality of Gwalior. Her father had reportedly gone to attend a condolence gathering at a relative’s place when the incident took place. During this time, the woman’s mother, Geeta, entered the room and allegedly found her daughter hanging from a noose. Family members immediately brought her down and rushed her to JAH Hospital for treatment, but doctors declared her dead.

Married Earlier This Month

Police said Megha alias Jyoti was married on May 1 to Siddharth Kandil, a resident of Pinto Park’s Kunj Vihar Colony in Gwalior. According to preliminary information, the woman had returned to her parental home on the same day after the wedding and had been staying there since then. Investigators are now trying to determine the reasons behind her prolonged stay at her parents’ residence after marriage. Officials said statements from both families will be recorded as part of the investigation.

No Suicide Note Found

Police and forensic teams reached the spot soon after receiving information and carried out an inspection of the room. Authorities confirmed that no suicide note was recovered from the scene, making the circumstances surrounding the death unclear. Investigators said all possible angles, including personal, emotional and family-related issues, are being examined. The absence of any written note has made it difficult for police to establish an immediate motive behind the suspected suicide.

Mobile Phone Seized

Police have seized the deceased woman’s mobile phone for forensic examination. Officials said her call records, chats and digital communication are being analysed to identify any possible clues linked to the incident. Investigators believe the mobile phone may help establish her mental condition, recent conversations and interactions before her death. Cyber and technical teams may also assist in retrieving deleted data if required during the investigation process.

Statements To Be Recorded

Police officials stated that both the woman’s parental family and in-laws will be questioned during the inquiry. As of now, no formal complaint regarding harassment or domestic abuse has been registered in the case. However, officials clarified that all aspects will be examined carefully before reaching any conclusion. Authorities are also trying to understand whether any dispute or personal stress contributed to the incident.

Postmortem Report Awaited

The body has been kept at the JAH mortuary for postmortem examination. Police said further legal action will depend on the findings of the autopsy report and the outcome of the ongoing investigation. CSP Murar Atul Kumar Soni said police are examining every angle connected to the case and efforts are underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the woman’s death.
