A total of 39 district presidents have been appointed across 33 districts, covering both urban and rural organisational units of the state.</p>
<p>The official notification was issued by AICC OBC department national president Anil Jaihind. The appointments are being seen as part of the party’s strategy to strengthen its organisational structure at the grassroots level ahead of upcoming political activities in the state.</p>
<h5><strong>New Leadership In Key Districts</strong></h5>
<p>According to the released list, Laxman Sen has been appointed as the OBC Congress president for Raipur city, while Mukesh Sahu will head the rural unit of Raipur district. In Dhamtari, Pramod Sinha has been given charge of the city unit, while Lakheshwar Sahu has been appointed for the rural organisation. Party leaders said these appointments are aimed at improving coordination between urban and rural units and strengthening the OBC wing’s outreach in key districts.</p>
<h5><strong>Appointments Across Multiple Districts</strong></h5>
<p>In Balodabazar, Ganesh Shankar Sahu has been appointed for the city unit and Ghanshyam Patel for the rural unit. In Gariaband, Gajendra Sahu has been given responsibility, while Kunal Chandrakar has been appointed in Mahasamund rural. In Durg, Shishirkant Kasar has been named district president for the city unit, while Santosh Deshmukh will head the rural unit. In Rajnandgaon, Sachin Durhate has been appointed for the city unit and Roshan Sahu for the rural organisation. Other key appointments include Bhairam Yadu in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Purushottam Verma in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, and Sukhchand Prajapati in Kanker district.</p>
<h5><strong>Leadership Changes In Central And Northern Regions</strong></h5>
<p>In Bilaspur rural, Sunil Sahu has been given the responsibility of district president, while Abhilash Jaiswal has been appointed for Mungeli. In Korba, Gajanand Sahu will lead the city unit and Rajesh Manikpuri will head the rural organisation. In Raigarh, Kanhaiya Patel has been appointed for the city unit and Bablu Sahu for the rural wing. In Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Mitendra Yadav has been given charge, while Chandradeep Yadav will lead the party unit in Jashpur. In Surguja, Ishwar Soni has been appointed as district president.</p>
<h5><strong>Party Focus On Organisational Strength</strong></h5>
<p>Congress leaders said the new appointments are intended to strengthen the party organisation at the booth and district levels, particularly within the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community. According to party officials, the restructuring is aimed at improving coordination, expanding grassroots outreach and enhancing the party’s presence across rural and urban regions of Chhattisgarh. The party believes that strengthening OBC leadership at the district level will help improve organisational efficiency and public engagement in the state.</p>
<h5><strong>Strategic Move Ahead Of Political Activities</strong></h5>
<p>Political observers view these appointments as part of the Congress party’s internal restructuring exercise in Chhattisgarh. The move is expected to play a key role in mobilising support at the local level and preparing the organisation for upcoming electoral and political challenges.
