A shocking double suicide case has surfaced from Gwalior, where a newly married woman allegedly died by suicide just weeks after her wedding, followed by the death of her husband two days later. Police are investigating both incidents and examining digital evidence to determine the circumstances that led to the tragedy.

The deceased woman, identified as Megha alias Jyoti, 23, was found hanging at her parental home in the Murar area on May 20. Two days later, her husband Siddharth Kandil, 26, was also found hanging inside the bathroom of his residence in Pinto Park area under Gola Ka Mandir police station limits. The incident has drawn widespread attention across Madhya Pradesh and become a major Public Interest Story and Trending News India topic due to the mysterious sequence of events surrounding the newly married couple.

Marriage Took Place Recently

According to police officials, Megha and Siddharth got married on April 25, 2026 through an arranged marriage setup. Megha belonged to the Hurawali Link Road area near Geru Wale Bangle, while Siddharth lived in Kunj Vihar Colony Phase-1 in Pinto Park and worked as a contractor.

Family members said the wedding was conducted with traditional celebrations and both families appeared satisfied with the alliance. Relatives stated that Megha went to her matrimonial home on April 26 after the wedding but returned to her parental home on May 1. Officials said the couple had spent only about five days together after marriage.

Bride Found Hanging

Police said Megha was found hanging inside a room on the second floor of her parental house on May 20. According to family members, her father had gone to attend a condolence gathering while Megha and her mother Geeta were at home. When her mother went upstairs between 10:30 am and 11 am, she reportedly found Megha hanging from a dupatta tied to the ceiling. Murar police reached the spot after receiving information and sent the body for postmortem examination on the same day. Officials said no suicide note was recovered from the scene.

Husband Dies Two Days Later

The second incident came on May 22 when Siddharth’s body was discovered hanging inside the bathroom of his house. According to police, Siddharth was under emotional stress following his wife’s death. Family members said Siddharth’s father Parmal Singh became suspicious after not seeing him in the room during the morning hours. When repeated calls received no response, relatives checked the bathroom and found it locked from inside.

The door was later broken open with the help of family members, following which Siddharth was found hanging using a cloth tied to the bathroom structure. Police from Gola Ka Mandir police station reached the location and sent the body for postmortem. Sources indicated that Siddharth’s family initially did not want a postmortem examination to be conducted.

Forensic Teams Inspect Both Locations

Forensic experts visited both houses on May 22 as part of the investigation process. Police teams first inspected the location where Megha died and later examined Siddharth’s residence for evidence collection. Both locations have been sealed while investigators continue gathering information linked to the case. Officials stated that physical evidence, room conditions, and electronic devices are being carefully examined.

Digital Evidence Under Scanner

Police said the mobile phones of both deceased individuals will be seized for forensic analysis. Cyber experts are expected to examine call details, WhatsApp chats, social media communication, and other digital records to identify any possible clues. Investigators are also trying to determine whom the couple last contacted before their deaths. Authorities confirmed that no written suicide note was found at either location, increasing dependence on digital evidence for the investigation. Police are also examining whether any audio recordings, videos, or digital messages linked to the case exist on the phones.

Possible Marital Dispute

Station in-charge Dharmendra Singh Yadav from Gola Ka Mandir police station said preliminary information suggests there may have been disputes between the husband and wife. However, officials clarified that the exact reason behind the deaths has not yet been established. Police teams are expected to question relatives, close friends, and family members from both sides to understand the couple’s relationship and recent interactions. Investigators said all angles, including emotional stress, domestic conflict, and other possible factors, are being examined.

Investigation Continues

The tragic deaths of the newly married couple have left both families in shock and raised fresh concerns regarding mental stress and relationship conflicts among young couples. Police officials stated that conclusions will only be drawn after detailed forensic analysis, digital examination, and statements from relatives are completed.
