The court's directions come in connection with allegations made by a woman who has accused the 23-year-old Bengal wicketkeeper-batter of establishing a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage and later subjecting her to threats and intimidation.

According to the complaint, the woman and Porel first came into contact in January 2023. She has alleged that the cricketer took her to his apartment in Mankundu, where he assured her of marriage before entering into a relationship with her.

The accused, identified as Avinash Narne, 30, originally from Telangana, has been charged with first-degree murder. A US court has ordered him to remain in custody and set his bail at USD 5 million (approximately ₹48 crore). If convicted, he could face life imprisonment under American law.

Investigators allege that Narne killed his wife, Rajitha Sabbineni, 27, just five months after their marriage. The couple had tied the knot on June 5, 2025, before relocating to the United States.

Emergency Call Triggered Investigation

According to investigators, the incident took place on October 27, 2025, when Narne contacted emergency services claiming his wife had locked herself inside the bathroom and was not responding.

Police officers forced open the bathroom door after arriving at the apartment and found Rajitha dead. Narne initially told investigators that he had stepped out of the apartment for nearly 40 minutes and discovered the bathroom locked upon returning home.

However, investigators examined electronic records from the apartment's smart lock and security system, which reportedly showed that no one had entered or exited the residence during the period Narne claimed to be away. The digital evidence led investigators to rule out the possibility of an intruder.

A postmortem examination conducted the following day concluded that Rajitha died due to asphyxia caused by strangulation, prompting authorities to officially classify the case as a homicide.

A sessions court in Gwalior has sentenced two men to life imprisonment for the brutal abduction and murder of a 12-year-old boy, holding them guilty of carrying out the crime as an act of revenge after the victim's sister was married to someone else.

Additional Sessions Judge Dhirendra Singh Parihar convicted the main accused, Shivam alias Tota Kushwah (23), and his associate Aman Goswami alias Yogi (21) for kidnapping, murder and destruction of evidence. The court also imposed financial penalties on both convicts, describing the crime as exceptionally cruel. The verdict was delivered nearly 19 months after the incident, with the prosecution relying heavily on digital and forensic evidence to establish the accused's involvement.

Revenge Motive Behind the Crime

According to the prosecution, Shivam was in a relationship with the victim's elder sister, Nandani. While both families had initially agreed to their marriage, opposition from the girl's stepfather led to the proposal being called off. The family later arranged Nandani's marriage with another man.

Investigators said Shivam harboured resentment over the marriage and allegedly decided to take revenge by targeting her younger brother, 12-year-old Hem Singh Rajput, instead of confronting the family directly.

The prosecution told the court that on July 29, 2024, Hem left home to visit the Gupteshwar Mahadev fair. During his journey, Shivam allegedly contacted the boy over the phone and persuaded him to meet on the pretext of taking him around the fair.

Shivam, along with Aman, allegedly kidnapped Hem and took him to an isolated forest area near Dev Kho Road in the Tighra police station limits. After consuming alcohol, the two allegedly attacked the child with large stones, inflicting fatal head injuries and crushing his jaw.

To conceal the crime, the accused buried the body beneath heavy stones before fleeing the spot.

Digital Evidence Cracked the Case

The victim's body was discovered the following day after a shepherd noticed flies hovering over stones in the forest and found the child's fingers protruding from beneath them.

Police launched an intensive investigation using digital evidence. CCTV footage from liquor shops near Tighra and Dev Kho Road allegedly captured the accused with the victim shortly before the murder and showed them purchasing alcohol.

Investigators also matched the mobile phone locations of both accused with the crime scene. Call detail records established that the final call received by Hem before his disappearance was from Shivam.

Police said the station master informed them around 8 pm after a train driver reported that a young woman had suddenly come onto the railway track, resulting in a fatal accident.

The body was sent to the district hospital for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.

Family members have questioned the circumstances surrounding the incident, pointing out that the railway track does not fall on the route between their home and the local market where Radhika had planned to shop.

This has raised questions about how she reached the railway line. Investigators are currently examining both accidental death and suicide as possible angles and have not reached any final conclusion.

Deleted Chats Under Investigation

Dehat Police Station in-charge Bhuvnesh Sharma said investigators found evidence of conversations with two contacts on Radhika's mobile phone. Police also discovered that some messages had been deleted.

Officials are analysing the deleted chats and other digital evidence to determine whether they have any connection with the incident.

Family Says She Was Under Stress

According to family members, Radhika had recently passed her Class 12 examinations and was preparing for college admission.

They told police that she had appeared mentally stressed for the past three to four days, although they were unaware of any specific reason behind her distress.

Radhika belonged to a family of four siblings and was the second among them. Her father, Ramswaroop Sharma, is originally from Kaluakhedi village in Bahadurpur but has been living with the family in a rented house in Ashoknagar for the past two decades.

Police are awaiting the post-mortem report and are collecting technical evidence, including digital records, to establish the sequence of events. Police have arrested the owner of a Mercedes car in connection with the suicide of a 25-year-old truck driver who allegedly took his own life after being threatened and assaulted following a road accident on the Jagdalpur-Bijapur National Highway-63.

The accused, identified as Sagar Hemla, was arrested after investigators examined eyewitness statements, social media videos recorded by the deceased before his death, and other digital evidence. He has been booked on charges related to criminal intimidation and abetment allegations and was sent to judicial custody after being produced before a court.

The case has drawn widespread attention after the victim's family alleged that the truck driver was subjected to physical assault, intimidation and an alleged demand for ₹1 crore as compensation following the accident.

According to police, the incident dates back to June 11, when a collision took place between a truck and a Mercedes car near Banjari Ghat on National Highway-63 in the Gidam police station area. Investigators said that following the accident, the truck driver, Tamradhwaj Sahu alias Sonu (25), was allegedly abused, assaulted and threatened by the Mercedes owner.

Family members have alleged that the accused demanded ₹1 crore for the damage caused to the luxury vehicle and threatened to kill the truck driver and harm his family if the amount was not paid. The alleged harassment reportedly left the young driver mentally distressed.

The following day, Tamradhwaj allegedly died by suicide after hanging himself.

Before taking the extreme step, the victim uploaded multiple videos on his social media accounts, claiming that he had been assaulted and threatened after the accident. In the videos, he reportedly narrated the circumstances that led to his emotional distress.

The victim's uncle, Hem Singh, who claims to have witnessed the incident, alleged that he was present with Tamradhwaj during the accident. According to him, the accused physically assaulted the truck driver and demanded ₹1 crore, while also issuing life threats.

Following complaints from the victim's relatives, Gidam police intensified the investigation. Officers visited the accident spot, recorded eyewitness statements and examined digital evidence, including the social media videos, mobile screenshots and other electronic records.

Based on the available evidence collected during the investigation, police arrested Sagar Hemla, a resident of Gangaloor in Bijapur district. He was later produced before a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody.

The case has also sparked controversy after the victim's family alleged that two of the eight videos uploaded by Tamradhwaj before his death went missing during the investigation. The family has demanded a fair and transparent probe into the matter and urged authorities to recover all digital evidence.

Responding to the developments, SDOP Govind Singh Diwan said the accused has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He added that the investigation remains ongoing and further legal action will depend on the evidence that emerges during the course of the probe.

The complaint states that the first contact was made on June 7 when an unknown person allegedly called and sent messages to the superintendent from a mobile number. The sender reportedly shared four video clips and claimed to have additional footage that could damage the reputation of the jail administration.

The messages allegedly warned that the videos would be forwarded to higher authorities if the demand was not met within a specified period.

Officials familiar with the matter said the superintendent informed senior prison authorities before approaching the police.

According to the complaint, the sender later asked for a meeting and allegedly directed the superintendent to come to a rest house on Gandhi Road. Investigators say discussions in the WhatsApp chat indicated a demand for a substantial amount of money.

A popular YouTuber with nearly four million followers surrendered before police here on Wednesday after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Manish Patel reached the Civil Lines police station on Wednesday afternoon and surrendered before the authorities. He was produced in court, where the magistrate remanded him to two days of police custody. 

According to police sources, the move came after the High Court rejected his anticipatory bail application on May 22. With mounting pressure from tower location tracking and tightening police cordon, Patel apparently had limited options left.

The case traces back to a video Patel uploaded on January 29 across YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. In the clip, he made remarks about Brahmin girls that were widely seen as objectionable and derogatory. 

The video quickly went viral, triggering strong protests from the Brahmin community in Rewa. Members of the community registered an FIR at the Civil Lines police station, accusing him of hurting religious sentiments. 

Patel, a resident of Khutaha village in Rewa district, went underground soon after the complaint. Despite being on the run, he remained surprisingly active on social media. He continued posting photographs and videos from weddings and public events, which reportedly helped police track his movements.

Manish Patel had approached both the local sessions court and the High Court seeking anticipatory bail. All applications were turned down. The High Court, hearing the matter on May 22 before Justice Ramkumar Chaube, dismissed the plea, leaving him with little legal cover.

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday moved rapidly after the Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled anticipatory bail for retired judge Giribala Singh in the high-profile death of 22-year-old Twisha Sharma, officials and sources said, with investigators conducting detailed digital mapping of the accused’s house and questioning her at the residence. According to sources familiar with the probe, Giribala could be arrested any time.

Order and timing

The High Court’s 17-page order, issued late on Wednesday, set aside the anticipatory bail granted earlier by a trial court. The bench observed that given the seriousness of the allegations, the evidence on record and the present stage of the investigation, relief was not warranted. The court noted multiple injury marks on Twisha’s body and said the accused had not offered satisfactory explanations, according to a copy of the order made available to reporters.

CBI activity at scene

A CBI team reached Giribala Singh’s home in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal around 10.30 am on Thursday and began questioning her, officials said. Investigators installed a high-intensity 3D camera inside the residence to take precise measurements and record 360-degree visuals of the first floor and other areas, part of a broader effort to recreate the crime scene and preserve digital evidence.

“Teams are recording the internal layout, the heights of walls and vantage points that could help corroborate statements,” an official involved in the probe said on condition of anonymity. The visuals are being added to the case file as scientific evidence, the source added.

Sequence of events

Twisha, who was married in 2023, died on the night of May 12 and was taken to AIIMS Bhopal, where an initial post-mortem recorded hanging marks and other injuries, the court order said. Police seized mobile phones and a DVR from the house the same day. The trial court had earlier granted anticipatory bail after noting certain WhatsApp messages that primarily complained about the husband and financial transfers into Twisha’s account. That order has now been overturned following a deeper review by the High Court.
