High-Speed Pickup Rams Auto

A head-on collision between a speeding pickup and an auto-rickshaw left five persons injured early Saturday morning. The accident occurred near Shivpur village under Panwar police station limits in Rewa district. Among the injured were four women, one child, and the auto driver. Officials confirmed that two of the victims are in critical condition.

Immediate Rescue Operations Launched

Locals rushed to the spot after hearing a loud crash. The impact of the collision was so severe that the auto-rickshaw was completely mangled. Residents immediately alerted 108 ambulance services and dialled 112. Police arrived within minutes and, with help from villagers, pulled out the trapped passengers. All five were first taken to the Community Health Centre in Jawa for primary treatment.

Two Referred To District Hospital

Medical officers at Jawa CHC identified Yogendra Yadav (38), a resident of Ghooman, and Rajkumari Yadav from Devri as the seriously injured. Their condition reportedly deteriorated during initial treatment. Doctors referred both to Rewa District Hospital for advanced care. The remaining three injured are stable and continue to receive treatment at Jawa CHC.

Pickup And Auto Seized By Police

Police reached the site and secured both vehicles. The pickup was coming from the opposite direction when it lost control, as per preliminary findings. Police have seized the auto and the pickup and sent them to the police station for mechanical inspection. An officer confirmed that a case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

Locals Allege Minors Driving Without Licences

Villagers at the scene raised concerns over rising reckless driving in the area. Residents claimed that unauthorised vehicles, especially e-rickshaws, are often driven by minors in the tarai belt. “Accidents have become frequent because nobody checks licences here,” said a local shopkeeper who witnessed the crash. Police have not yet confirmed if the pickup driver was a minor.

Rising Road Accidents In Focus

Data from recent months shows a spike in road mishaps across Rewa district. The Rewa police administration had earlier issued advisories against over-speeding on narrow village roads. However, compliance remains low. Saturday’s accident has once again brought attention to weak enforcement of traffic rules in rural areas. Officials admit that patrolling on interior routes is not consistent.

Police Investigation Underway

Police are recording statements from eyewitnesses. Officials indicated that CCTV cameras from nearby shops are being scanned to ascertain the exact cause. The pickup driver fled the spot after the collision, according to sources. Police teams are now trying to trace the vehicle owner. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken under the Motor Vehicles Act.

What Happens Next

Rewa district administration has directed health officials to ensure the best possible care for the critical patients. Police will file a final report after completing the mechanical inspection and collecting all evidence. Locals demand a permanent checkpost on this stretch to monitor over-speeding. Meanwhile, the condition of the two referred patients will determine if further legal action under negligent driving sections is added.

Balodabazar road accident shocked Chhattisgarh on Wednesday after two on-duty constables lost their lives in a tragic collision involving a speeding trailer. The fatal crash occurred under the Hathband police station limits in Balodabazar district, highlighting growing concerns around heavy vehicle safety and traffic discipline in the region.

The victims have been identified as Constable Dharmendra Yadav (35) and Constable Prashantdhar Diwan (35), both posted in different units but traveling together for official duty at the time of the incident.

How the Accident Happened

According to police officials, the two constables were heading towards Balodabazar on a motorcycle around 11 am. The accident took place on the Udela–Pausari Road when a trailer coming from behind reportedly took a sudden turn at high speed.

Key details of the incident:

The trailer allegedly made an abrupt turn.

The motorcycle collided with the heavy vehicle.

Both constables fell and came under the trailer’s rear wheel.

The trailer continued moving, severely damaging the bike.

The Balodabazar road accident resulted in the immediate death of Constable Dharmendra Yadav at the scene. Constable Prashantdhar Diwan was critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital.

One Dies on the Spot, Another During Transfer

While Dharmendra Yadav succumbed instantly due to severe injuries, Prashantdhar Diwan was given primary treatment locally. Doctors later referred him to Raipur for advanced medical care. However, he passed away near Dharseeva while being transported in an ambulance.

The bodies were later sent for postmortem and handed over to their families.

Dharmendra Yadav, a resident of Parsabod village in Bemetara district, was posted in the cyber cell. Prashantdhar Diwan, originally from Nawagarh in Bemetara, was serving at Hathband police station.

Accused Driver Arrested

Police have arrested the trailer driver, identified as Kunjbihari, and seized the vehicle. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine whether overspeeding or negligence directly led to the fatal collision.

DSP Prem Lal Sahu confirmed that both constables were on official duty related to investigative work at the time of the accident.

Authorities are also examining:

Vehicle speed and braking patterns

Road conditions

Possible violation of traffic rules

Rising Road Safety Concerns in Chhattisgarh

The Chhattisgarh accident news has once again drawn attention to increasing road mishaps involving heavy vehicles. Experts say sudden turns, overspeeding, and lack of strict lane discipline often lead to deadly outcomes, especially for two-wheeler riders.

Road safety analysts emphasize:

Strict enforcement of speed regulations for heavy vehicles

Better monitoring through highway patrol units

Awareness programs for defensive riding

With several recent incidents involving trailer bike collisions, authorities may consider intensified traffic checks in high-risk zones.

Why This Incident Matters Now

This tragic Balodabazar road accident comes at a time when road safety remains a major public concern across India. According to transport safety experts, accidents involving heavy commercial vehicles tend to result in higher fatality rates due to their size and weight.

For the police department, the loss of two serving constables has deeply impacted the force. Colleagues described them as dedicated officers committed to their duty.

The death of two on-duty constables in Balodabazar is a grim reminder of the urgent need for stricter traffic enforcement and responsible driving. As investigations continue, the focus remains on accountability and preventive measures to ensure such tragedies do not repeat.

The district administration is expected to review safety protocols in the coming days, while families and colleagues mourn the untimely loss of two brave officers.

MBBS Student Killed in Ujjain Road Accident: Protests Erupt Outside RD Gardi Medical College Over Safety Concerns

MBBS student killed in Ujjain road accident near RD Gardi Medical College; students protest demanding urgent road safety measures.

A tragic road accident in Ujjain has sparked outrage among medical students after an MBBS student killed in Ujjain road accident near the gate of RD Gardi Medical College on Saturday morning. The victim, 20-year-old Harshit Mehra, a second-year MBBS student, lost his life after being hit by a speeding truck on Agar Road.

The incident has once again raised serious questions about Ujjain road safety and the lack of traffic control measures near educational institutions.

Fatal Accident Near College Gate

According to police reports, Harshit was entering the college premises from his hostel when a speeding truck rammed into him near the main gate on Agar Road. He sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.

Eyewitnesses said the truck driver abandoned the vehicle immediately after the accident and fled the scene. Police teams from Chimanganj Police Station reached the spot shortly after receiving information.

Officials confirmed that efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused driver. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.

Students Block Agar Road, Demand Immediate Safety Measures

Following the tragic incident, angry students staged a student protest on Agar Road, blocking traffic for nearly an hour. The road blockade caused long traffic jams, with vehicles lined up on both sides.

Students demanded:

Installation of speed breakers near the college gate

Deployment of traffic police during peak hours

Strict monitoring of heavy vehicles passing through the area

Permanent traffic control systems to prevent future accidents

Many students alleged that several minor accidents had occurred earlier due to speeding vehicles, but authorities failed to implement lasting safety solutions.

CSP Pushpa Prajapati and Chimanganj police station in-charge Gajendra Pancharia addressed the protesting students and assured them that necessary road safety arrangements would be implemented soon. After receiving official assurance, the students withdrew their protest.

A Bright Student With Big Dreams

Harshit Mehra was originally from Indore and was the only son in his family. His father had passed away earlier, and his mother works as a mehendi designer.

Faculty members described him as a brilliant and multi-talented student. Dr. Ruchi Mishra from the Physiotherapy Department shared that Harshit excelled not only in academics but also in music. He had won multiple awards during the college’s recent Silver Jubilee celebrations.

“He was disciplined, talented, and deeply passionate about medicine,” a faculty member said.

Why This Incident Matters Now

The MBBS student killed in Ujjain road accident highlights a larger issue of road safety near schools and colleges across Madhya Pradesh. With increasing traffic flow and heavy vehicle movement, educational institutions located along busy highways remain vulnerable zones.

Experts emphasize that immediate infrastructure upgrades such as speed-calming measures, zebra crossings, warning signage, and CCTV monitoring can significantly reduce accident risks.

Urban safety planners suggest:

Conducting a road safety audit around campuses

Restricting heavy vehicle movement during peak student hours

Installing rumble strips and reflective signboards

As investigations continue, the tragic loss of a young medical student has left the campus community grieving. The focus now shifts to whether authorities will act swiftly to prevent another life from being lost on the same stretch of road.

The coming days will determine if this heartbreaking incident leads to meaningful and lasting change in Ujjain’s traffic safety framework.

Rajendra’s father, Raju Sahu, 40, sustained minor injuries and was admitted to a local hospital for treatment. The family’s younger son, Jageshwar Sahu, remained unharmed.

According to reports, the Sahu family, originally from Jamgaon in Bemetara district, worked as laborers in Pune. They began their return journey on the evening of January 9 around 4 pm. Traveling in two two-wheelers, the family had covered approximately 973 kilometers and reached Patharia by January 10 night.

The collision took place around 10:45 pm on January 10 when the bike (MH-50-Y-6197) carrying Malti and Rajendra hit a Hiwa truck (CG-25-M-7574) that was parked in a broken-down condition. Eyewitnesses said the truck lacked hazard indicators, reflectors, or warning signs, making it difficult for oncoming vehicles to notice it in the dark.

Emergency services rushed the injured mother and son to Ahivara Government Hospital via 112 ambulance, where they were declared dead by the doctors. Raju Sahu, who suffered minor injuries, later filed a complaint at Nandini police station against the truck driver, alleging negligent parking on the road.

Police officials confirmed that an investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact circumstances of the accident. The incident highlights the dangers posed by improperly parked vehicles, particularly at night, and underscores the need for clear safety measures such as reflectors, hazard lights, and adequate road signage.

Local authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution during night travel and ensure vehicles are visible to others to prevent similar tragedies. The Durg-Bhilai administration is expected to review safety protocols on highways to improve night-time visibility and reduce accidents.
