Government job aspirants have several recruitment opportunities to consider this week, with major openings announced by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) and Indian Railways. Among the biggest recruitment drives are 13,706 vacancies in IBPS Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and 4,471 Apprentice positions in Southern Railway.

The two recruitments together account for 18,177 vacancies, while several other government departments and railway units have also issued recruitment notifications in recent days.

For candidates preparing for competitive examinations or looking for government-sector opportunities, the recruitment calendar offers openings across banking, railway apprenticeships and technical positions.

IBPS RRB Recruitment 2026

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection has opened applications for 13,706 posts under the IBPS RRB 2026 recruitment drive.

The vacancies cover positions including Office Assistant (Clerk) and Officer Scale-I, II and III in Regional Rural Banks. The online application process began on September 1, 2026, and candidates can submit their applications until September 21 through the official IBPS recruitment portal. 

The recruitment is aimed at filling positions in Regional Rural Banks across the country. Depending on the post, candidates are required to meet prescribed educational, age and other eligibility conditions. Knowledge of the relevant local language may also be required for certain positions.

The selection process varies according to the post and can include preliminary examinations, main examinations and interviews.

Southern Railway has 4,471 Apprentice vacancies

Southern Railway has announced 4,471 Act Apprentice vacancies across different divisions, workshops and units.

The recruitment is particularly relevant for candidates who have completed Class 10 and hold the required ITI qualification for the relevant trade. The notification also includes vacancies for freshers in specified categories. 

The application process began on August 28 and will remain open until September 27, 2026.

The apprenticeship recruitment covers multiple trades and locations under Southern Railway. Candidates should check the official notification for the specific trade-wise educational requirements, age conditions, reservation provisions and other eligibility rules before applying.

Railway recruitment adds more opportunities

Southern Railway's 4,471-post recruitment is not the only railway opening available to job seekers.

The Railway Recruitment Board has also issued a recruitment notification for Junior Engineer and related technical posts, with more than 4,000 vacancies listed in the current recruitment cycle. The application deadline for that recruitment is September 13, 2026. 

Other railway units have also announced apprentice and other positions, making the sector one of the major sources of government recruitment opportunities currently available.

Candidates should be careful, however, not to treat every railway vacancy as a single nationwide recruitment drive. Different Railway Recruitment Boards, Railway Recruitment Cells and railway zones issue separate notifications with their own eligibility requirements and application deadlines.

Who should apply?

The current openings cover candidates with different educational backgrounds.

Graduates looking for banking-sector jobs can consider the IBPS RRB recruitment, subject to the eligibility requirements of the particular post. Candidates with Class 10 and ITI qualifications may find the Southern Railway Apprentice recruitment more relevant.

Those applying for technical railway positions such as Junior Engineer posts need to meet the prescribed diploma or engineering qualifications.

Because eligibility differs considerably between recruitments, applicants should check the original notification before submitting an application rather than relying only on social media posts or job-alert summaries.

Check deadlines before applying

With several recruitment processes running simultaneously, candidates should keep track of the last date for each application.

For the IBPS RRB recruitment, the deadline is September 21, 2026, while the Southern Railway Apprentice application window closes on September 27, 2026. The current Railway Junior Engineer recruitment has an earlier deadline of September 13.

The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has officially announced the Stenographer Result 2026, bringing an end to the wait for thousands of candidates who appeared in the recruitment examination. The result, released on July 22, 2026, is now available on the commission's official website.

The recruitment drive is being conducted to fill 333 Stenographer vacancies across various departments of the Uttar Pradesh government under Advertisement No. 09/2023. Candidates who appeared for the examination can access their results online by logging into the UPSSSC portal using their Registration Number or Enrollment Number along with their Date of Birth.

The online application process for the recruitment began on October 17, 2023, and concluded on November 6, 2023. Following the application window, candidates were allowed to make corrections to their submitted forms until November 15, 2023. The written examination was eventually conducted on November 16, 2025, while the revised answer key was published on April 1, 2026, before the declaration of the final result.

Candidates who have qualified in the written examination will move to the next stages of the recruitment process, which include a Skill Test, followed by Document Verification (DV) and a Medical Examination. The commission is expected to release the schedule for these stages separately on its official website.

The recruitment notification prescribed that applicants must have passed the Intermediate (Class 12) examination from a recognized board and possess a valid UPSSSC PET 2022 Score Card. In addition, candidates were required to demonstrate Hindi stenography speed of 80 words per minute, Hindi typing speed of 25 words per minute, and hold a valid NIELIT CCC certificate or its equivalent computer qualification.

The age criteria for the recruitment were fixed between 18 and 40 years as on July 1, 2023, with relaxation in the upper age limit provided to reserved category candidates in accordance with Uttar Pradesh government rules.

Candidates are advised to carefully verify the information displayed in their result. Those shortlisted should keep all original documents, including educational certificates, identity proof, caste or category certificates (where applicable), PET score card and computer qualification certificates, ready for the upcoming verification process.

A major case of alleged fraud in the public healthcare system has emerged in Madhya Pradesh, where nine individuals are accused of obtaining government medical positions using forged educational certificates, fake medical registrations, and manipulated documents. The case has raised serious questions about verification procedures within the recruitment process of public health institutions.

According to officials, the accused were appointed under the National Health Mission (NHM) and posted at various government-run Sanjeevani Clinics and healthcare centres. They reportedly continued treating patients for nearly five months before discrepancies in their credentials came to light.

The matter came under scrutiny after complaints regarding the educational qualifications and registration details of several doctors were received by NHM authorities. A verification exercise was subsequently initiated, leading to the discovery of multiple irregularities.

Credentials Found Suspicious

Investigators found that some of the accused had allegedly used registration numbers belonging to legitimate medical practitioners, while others submitted registration details that did not exist in the records of the medical council.

Officials said that a simple cross-verification with medical council databases revealed significant discrepancies. The findings prompted a deeper examination of the documents submitted during the recruitment process.

The accused named in the FIR include Akash Chandelkar, Mohar Singh, Kamal Kishore, Monica, Haroon, Shanti, Sonam, Buddhman, and Pawan.

Verification Exposes Alleged Fraud

According to the investigation, copies of genuine doctors' documents were allegedly obtained and digitally altered before being used to create forged certificates bearing different names. These documents were then submitted during recruitment to secure appointments in government healthcare facilities.

Authorities believe the forged credentials enabled the accused to gain access to medical positions despite lacking valid registration records. The individuals allegedly continued working in healthcare institutions and treating patients during their tenure.

Police officials stated that the accused remained employed in different government health establishments for approximately five months before the irregularities were detected.

Probe into Possible Network

The investigation has now expanded beyond document forgery. Police are examining whether the case involves a larger organised network engaged in producing fake medical credentials and facilitating fraudulent recruitment.

Officials are also investigating whether any internal collusion or negligence occurred during the recruitment and verification process. Questions have been raised about how the alleged discrepancies escaped scrutiny despite being verifiable through official records.

The case has triggered concerns regarding verification mechanisms in public healthcare recruitment. Experts say the incident highlights the need for stronger digital authentication systems and mandatory cross-checking of professional registrations before appointments are finalised.
