In a shocking incident highlighting deteriorating law and order, a senior advocate, his lawyer brother, and his nephew were brutally assaulted by a group of miscreants in the middle of a busy intersection in Rewa on Sunday. The attackers blocked the victims' SUV, dragged them out, and beat them repeatedly with belts.

The entire incident, which took place at the bustling Mrignayani Chouraha, was captured on CCTV cameras and recorded on mobile phones by bystanders. The video footage, which went viral on social media shortly after the incident, shows absolute chaos on the streets as commuters scrambled for safety while the attackers openly damaged the victims' vehicle.

Ambush at Mrignayani Chouraha

According to local eyewitnesses and initial reports, the victims were travelling in a Mahindra Scorpio when they were intercepted by the attackers. The suspects, who were chasing the family in a black Tata Harrier, abruptly overtook the Scorpio and blocked its path right in the middle of the intersection.

As soon as the Scorpio came to a halt, a group of men armed with belts and blunt objects rushed out of the Harrier. They forced open the doors of the victims' car and began pulling the occupants out. The viral footage shows a youth repeatedly striking one of the victims with a leather belt while others vandalised the vehicle.

Lawyers Targeted in Broad Daylight

The victims have been identified as senior advocate Sudhanshu Singh, his brother Shivam Singh—who is also a practicing lawyer—and their nephew. All three sustained multiple injuries in the surprise attack, with the nephew reportedly requiring medical attention for cuts and bruises sustained during the melee.

"The attackers seemed to have trailed them from a distance," a source familiar with the matter said. "The moment the Scorpio slowed down near the crossing, they executed the ambush. They didn't just beat the family; they systematically smashed the windows and windshield of the Scorpio, causing extensive damage."

Panic Grips Local Commuters

The sheer audacity of the attack, executed in broad daylight at one of the city's key intersections, triggered widespread panic. Passersby and local shopkeepers fled the spot to avoid being caught in the crossfire. Traffic at the busy junction came to a complete standstill for several minutes during the assault.

A local shopkeeper, speaking on the condition of anonymity, described the scene: "It happened all of a sudden. We heard loud shouting and the sound of breaking glass. When we looked over, a group of men were hitting people with belts. Nobody dared to intervene because the attackers looked aggressive and determined."
