The Chhattisgarh government has stepped up action against government employees who allegedly secured jobs using fake, incorrect or fraudulent caste certificates. The General Administration Department (GAD) has sought updated details of such cases from all government departments and district-level authorities.

The government has directed departments to initiate termination proceedings against employees whose caste certificates have already been cancelled by the High-Level Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, provided there is no court stay order protecting their service.

Departments Asked for Consolidated Data

The General Administration Department has asked all departments to collect information from their subordinate offices and prepare a consolidated report.

The report will include details of cases in which investigations have been completed, the number of employees removed from service and cases where action remains pending.

The information is to be submitted to the General Administration Department and the Department of Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development.

758 Complaints Registered

According to the information sought by the government, 758 complaints related to government employment obtained on the basis of allegedly fake caste certificates have been registered in Chhattisgarh since the formation of the state.

Investigations have been completed in 659 cases, while caste certificates were found to be invalid or fraudulent in 267 cases.

The latest directive is aimed at ensuring that cases where there is no legal obstacle do not remain pending indefinitely.

Cases With Court Stay to Be Tracked

A significant number of employees facing action have approached the courts. In several cases, proceedings have been affected by stay orders issued by the Chhattisgarh High Court.

The government has therefore sought updated information on such cases as well, including details of the court proceedings and the status of existing stay orders.

Employees whose cases are protected by an active judicial order will be dealt with according to the applicable legal process.

Action to Be Categorised

The government has decided to classify the cases based on their current legal and administrative status.

Cases in which the scrutiny committee has cancelled the caste certificate and there is no stay from a court will be prioritised for departmental action. Cases involving an active court stay will be separately recorded and monitored until there is further judicial direction.

The move is expected to accelerate action in cases that have remained pending because of administrative or legal complications.

The Chhattisgarh government has carried out another administrative reshuffle, transferring eight Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and 19 State Administrative Service officers while assigning them new responsibilities across key departments and district administrations.

The latest exercise comes shortly after the state government transferred 43 IAS officers and appointed new collectors in seven districts.

Remigius Ekka Gets Additional Charge of SUDA

Senior IAS officer Remigius Ekka has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) along with his existing role in the Urban Administration and Development Department.

The government has also appointed Gajendra Singh Thakur as Deputy Secretary in the Revenue, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department.

District Panchayats Get New CEOs

The reshuffle includes appointments to several district panchayats.

Prateek Jain has been posted as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zila Panchayat Korba, while Jayant Nahata has been appointed CEO of Zila Panchayat Dhamtari. M. Bhargav has been assigned to Dantewada, Tanmay Khanna to Bastar and Durga Prasad Adhikari to Rajnandgaon as Chief Executive Officers of their respective district panchayats.

Gokul Ram Rabte has been posted as CEO of Zila Panchayat Mungeli, Ashutosh Chaturvedi as CEO of Zila Panchayat Balrampur-Ramanujganj, and Abhishek Kumar Gupta has been appointed CEO of Zila Panchayat Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki.

New Posting for Bhilai Municipal Corporation

Suruchi Singh has been appointed Commissioner of Bhilai Municipal Corporation as part of the latest administrative changes.

The government has also reassigned several State Administrative Service officers to departments handling education, health, civil supplies and cooperative institutions.

Among the State Administrative Service officers, Indrajeet Barman has been given a new responsibility in the Health Services Department.

Rajiv Kumar Pandey has been posted to the Directorate of Higher Education, while Bharti Chandrakar has been assigned to MARKFED. Dinesh Kumar Nag has been transferred to the Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation, and Nayantara Singh Tomar has been posted to the Directorate of Medical Education.

Prabhakar Pandey has been shifted to the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, while Shashank Pandey has been posted to the Chhattisgarh Road Infrastructure Development Corporation.

Part of Continuing Administrative Restructuring

The latest transfer order is part of the state's ongoing administrative restructuring aimed at strengthening governance and improving departmental coordination. The reshuffle follows an earlier round in which 43 IAS officers were transferred and several key administrative positions, including district collectors, were reassigned.

Officials said the new postings will take effect as per the orders issued by the General Administration Department.

The deadline for transfers across Madhya Pradesh, set for 15 June, lapsed on Monday with several major departments yet to issue final orders, prompting the state government to consider a one-week extension of the MP transfer deadline, officials said. A formal notification on the extension is expected on Tuesday, according to sources in the General Administration Department (GAD).

Limited orders issued
The transfer window, which the government opened from 1 June to 15 June, produced orders in only a handful of departments. Officials in the Health Department’s National Health Mission (NHM) and the Public Works Department (PWD) confirmed they had completed most of their scheduled transfers during the fortnight. Outside those pockets, however, several key departments remained mid-process late on Monday.

Departments still working
Sources familiar with the exercise said the School Education, Panchayat and Rural Development, Revenue and Tribal Affairs departments are among those yet to complete internal clearances and file final transfer lists. The School Education Department has reportedly prepared a staggered plan and may continue its transfer process into July for some categories of staff.

According to GAD insiders, the proposal to extend the MP transfer deadline has been discussed with Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. “There has been a broad understanding that an additional seven days will help departments finalise pending proposals,” a departmental official said on condition of anonymity. What led to delays
Officials pointed to multiple reasons behind the delay: late receipt of vigilance clearances in some cases, technical glitches in online transfer portals, and a heavy volume of proposals in departments such as education and revenue.
