Bilaspur Car Sunroof Stunt Video: Police Launch Hunt

The obsession with clocking viral numbers on social media reels continues to drive youth into perilous territory, risking not only their lives but the safety of commuters. In the latest incident of absolute traffic law defiance in Chhattisgarh, two young women were caught on camera performing dangerous stunts through the sunroof of a speeding car on the busy Raipur-Bilaspur National Highway. To compound the danger, the driver actively abetted the stunt by recklessly swerving the vehicle in a zig-zag pattern across the lanes.

The incident, which reportedly took place on Saturday morning between 4:00 AM and 4:30 AM, was captured on video and has since triggered massive outrage on social media platforms. While the Bilaspur police have not made any immediate arrests, they have registered the vehicle's registration number (CG-10-BE-4400) and launched a coordinated manhunt to trace the owner and the occupants.

Hanging Out of the Sunroof as Car Swerves on Highway

The viral footage shows a white sedan cruising down the national highway during the early hours of dawn. Within seconds, the vehicle's sunroof slides open, and a young woman emerges, standing completely outside the cabin. Moments later, her friend joins her, and both are seen waving into the wind and dancing to a video being recorded from behind.

Instead of slowing down or pulling over, the driver began deliberately maneuvering the car in a dangerous, erratic manner, cutting across traffic lanes. The entire act of negligence was filmed by a commuter traveling in a vehicle directly behind them, which quickly surfaced online as a direct challenge to the state's traffic enforcement.

"Sticking one's torso out of a sunroof when a vehicle is moving at speeds of 80 to 100 km/h on a highway is an invitation to a fatal accident. A sudden brake or even a minor bump can launch a person onto the tarmac, resulting in instant death. Moreover, swerving a car erratically at those speeds poses a severe collision threat to trailing traffic." — Traffic Safety Expert

Police Initiate Search and Strict Legal Proceedings

Following the digital outrage, the Bilaspur Traffic Department and local law enforcement swiftly stepped in. Acknowledging the gravity of the violation, Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Ramgopal Kariyare stated that the administration has been maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against reckless stunt driving. He confirmed that the regional transport database is being mapped to identify the registered owner of the vehicle, after which the car will be impounded and a heavy financial penalty will be levied.

Repeating Patterns on the Bilaspur Highway

This is not an isolated breach on the Raipur-Bilaspur corridor. Not long ago, the highway witnessed a similar incident when a woman was filmed dancing out of the sunroof of a moving luxury BMW sedan. In that instance, the video's viral trajectory forced the police to trace the vehicle to an influential local youth, who was subsequently detained and had his premium car seized.

Similarly, a recent video from the neighboring Balco region in Korba showed school students hanging out of the windows of three moving Mahindra Scorpio SUVs to pose for farewell-party selfies and short video clips. Traffic authorities note that despite heavy fines and vehicle impoundments, the psychological pull of social media validation remains dangerously high among youngsters, prompting the police to now consider harsher criminal charges beyond basic traffic challans.
