Tension erupted in Rewa city after a dispute over a youth allegedly kicking a cow snowballed into a violent clash, with the victim claiming that three men forcibly entered his house and assaulted him along with family members.

Rahul Gupta, the complainant, reached Saman police station on Tuesday and lodged a written complaint. According to his version, the trouble started when he objected to the kicking of a cow. What began as an argument quickly escalated, leading to the alleged intrusion and beating.

Gupta alleged that Rashid, Firoz, and Aashif from the Ghoghar area reached his residence and assaulted him and other family members. The sudden attack created panic inside the house, with the family members terrified by the incident. A video of the confrontation inside the house has also surfaced, showing the chaos and scuffle.

The matter has taken a communal turn, with people from two different communities reportedly clashing over the issue. Local residents said discussions and unrest continued in the area following the episode.

Police have initiated a probe. Saman police station in-charge Vijay Singh said a complaint has been received and investigation is underway based on the statement and the video evidence. “Both sides will be questioned. Action will be taken as per the facts that emerge during the investigation,” he added.

Further details are awaited as police continue to examine the sequence of events. The complainant has also sought security for his family, citing fear after the alleged home invasion.

Such incidents often flare up quickly in sensitive matters involving religious sentiments, especially when animals considered sacred are involved. Rewa has seen similar localised tensions in the past, though authorities usually step in to restore calm.

As of now, no arrests have been reported. Police said they are proceeding cautiously to verify claims from both sides before taking any concrete legal steps. The situation in the locality remains under watch to prevent any further flare-up.
