An FIR has been registered in connection with the alleged theft of donations at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, with eight individuals named as accused and three arrested as part of the ongoing investigation. The complaint was lodged by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust member Krishna Mohan following the preliminary findings of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government.

The case has drawn significant public and political attention after allegations of financial irregularities involving temple donations surfaced earlier this month. Authorities have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and further action will depend on the evidence collected during the probe.

Eight Accused Named in FIR

According to the FIR, those named include Ramshankar Yadav alias Tinnu, who reportedly served as the driver to Trust General Secretary Champat Rai, along with Lavkush Mishra, Anukalp Mishra, Avinash Shukla, Manish Yadav, Ramashankar Mishra, Subhash Chandra Srivastava, and Karunesh Pandey.

Police have confirmed that three of the accused have been arrested. However, the FIR does not name Champat Rai, despite speculation surrounding the investigation.

The SIT was constituted on June 13 and submitted its preliminary report to the Uttar Pradesh government on June 23, forming the basis of the complaint filed by the Trust.

Political Reactions Intensify

The case has triggered political reactions, particularly from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

AAP MP Sanjay Singh met SIT Chairman Vijay Vishwas Pant in Lucknow and submitted 11 documents that he claimed were related to alleged financial irregularities linked to the temple. After the meeting, Singh questioned why arrests and an FIR had not been made earlier, alleging that evidence of financial misconduct had already emerged.

His remarks represent allegations made by the opposition and have not been independently verified by investigating authorities.

Trust Rejects Resignation Rumours

Amid widespread discussion on social media, rumours suggesting that Trust General Secretary Champat Rai had resigned were dismissed by temple construction in-charge Gopal Rao.

He stated that no resignation had been submitted and urged the public not to believe unverified reports circulating online. According to temple officials, the SIT investigation is still underway, and conclusions should be drawn only after the inquiry is completed.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) also rejected claims regarding Champat Rai's alleged resignation.

Kejriwal Questions Investigation

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal also commented on the developments, expressing concern over the allegations involving temple donations. He announced that he would visit Ayodhya to offer prayers while alleging that the investigation was primarily targeting junior staff members instead of those allegedly responsible for larger irregularities.

These remarks reflect the political response to the case. Investigating agencies have not commented on the allegations regarding the scope of the probe.

Investigation Continues

The Uttar Pradesh government has maintained that the SIT investigation remains active and that further legal action will depend on the evidence collected during the course of the inquiry. Authorities have not indicated whether additional arrests or charges may follow.

With the FIR now officially registered and arrests already made, investigators are expected to continue examining financial records, witness statements, and other evidence to determine the extent of the alleged irregularities involving temple donations.
