Indore's prestigious Yashwant Club holds its biennial elections on Sunday, with 5,124 members casting ballots to elect a new executive committee and office bearers. The day's central contest is a straight fight for the president's post between Paramjit Singh (Pammy) Chhabra and Jitendra (Jeetu) Jain.

Voting runs from 9:30 am to 4 pm, with counting to follow immediately and results expected the same evening. Four polling booths have been set up within the club premises to manage the process. Members will receive two separate ballot papers — one for electing executive committee members, and a second for choosing the four key office bearers: president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer.

Two panels dominate the contest. The Pammy Chhabra panel has fielded Chhabra for president and Atul Sheth for secretary. Facing them is the Sachdeva-Gorani panel, which has put forward Jitendra Jain for president and Vijay Kasturi for secretary. Former president Tony Sachdeva and Sanjay Gorani — the names behind that panel — are not in the running themselves, having completed two consecutive terms. A few independent candidates are also in the fray.

Yashwant Club elections carry weight beyond the club's membership. Regarded as one of Indore's more prominent social elections, the contest draws attention from the city's business and civic circles, with the outcome seen as a reflection of shifting alignments among the city's established families and professional community.

Results are expected late Sunday evening.
