A trivial argument over a revving motorcycle engine ended in murder on Monday night in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, when 16-year-old Mohit Rajak, a Class 12 student at Excellence School, was stabbed in the chest and stomach near Raja Ki Chakki on Malpur Road. He died at the district hospital shortly after being rushed there by friends and family.

According to the police complaint filed by his elder brother Vikas Rajak, 19, Mohit had gone out with friends Balram Jatav and Shivjeet Sharma on Shivjeet's motorcycle around 9 pm. The three reached Raja Ki Chakki, where Mohit began revving the bike's accelerator repeatedly while parked. Ramjilal Rajak, a neighbour who arrived in his taxi around the same time, objected to the parked bike and the loud revving.
When Mohit refused to move, Ramjilal allegedly began hurling abuses. The argument escalated, and Vikas stepped in to try and defuse the situation. According to the complaint, Ramjilal then pulled a sharp knife from his taxi and stabbed Mohit in the chest and abdomen. Mohit collapsed on the road as the accused fled the scene.

Vikas, along with Shivjeet Sharma, Balram Jatav, and a neighbour identified as Gaurya Sharma, rushed Mohit to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Family members who reached the hospital after hearing the news initially insisted on taking Mohit's body to Bhopal for treatment, refusing to accept that he had already died. It took intervention from police and doctors before they agreed to allow a postmortem examination. The hospital remained gripped by grief through the night, with relatives inconsolable.

Vikas told reporters that his younger brother had dreamed of becoming a police officer. Just a day before the killing, the family had bought him new books for his studies — a detail that has added to the weight of the loss for those close to him.

Cantonment police reached the spot soon after being alerted and have begun examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area. Circle in-charge Anand Rai said preliminary investigation suggests the altercation began over a minor disagreement between Mohit and Ramjilal, which escalated when the accused produced a sharp weapon and attacked. A murder case has been registered, and police are searching for the accused.
