Kamakoti and IIT Bombay professor Sunita Sarawagi. The session was moderated by IIT Jammu Director Manoj S. Gaur.</p>
<p>The discussions covered AI governance, national learning platforms, indigenous AI development and the responsible deployment of advanced AI models.</p>

                <title>BRICS Education Ministers Adopt Roadmap on AI, Skills and Qualification Recognition</title>

<p>The declaration was adopted at the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting held in Bhubaneswar under India’s 2026 BRICS chairship.</p>
<p>Representatives from Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, Indonesia, Iran, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates participated in the meeting.</p>
<h3>Five Priority Areas</h3>
<p>The roadmap focuses on:</p>
<ol>
<li>Early-childhood education and foundational literacy</li>
<li>Technical and vocational education and training</li>
<li>Joint research, innovation and start-up ecosystems</li>
<li>Mutual recognition of academic qualifications</li>
<li>Faculty exchanges and academic leadership</li>
</ol>
<p>The participating countries supported the safe, ethical and human-centred use of artificial intelligence in education.</p>
<p>They also agreed to continue discussions on a memorandum of understanding for mutual recognition of qualifications. Such an agreement could eventually make academic mobility easier, but no automatic recognition system has yet been implemented.</p>
<p>The declaration also encourages STEM scholarships, faculty exchanges, the BRICS Rectors’ Forum and exploratory work on a BRICS university ranking and evaluation framework.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<p>Teachers across the country are reporting a growing trend in which students submit essays that are grammatically correct, well-structured and polished, yet lack originality and personal thought. They argue that while AI can improve productivity, it should not take over the learning process that helps students develop communication and analytical skills.</p>

However, experts caution that such software should not be treated as the final authority. <p>Assessment methods may also need to evolve alongside technological advances. Educators argue that a polished final assignment no longer provides a complete picture of a student's abilities, particularly when AI tools can produce sophisticated writing with minimal effort. Instead, teachers are increasingly looking at writing drafts, editing histories, classroom writing exercises and the overall writing process to evaluate genuine learning and progress.</p>
<p>Experts also stress that parents play a crucial role in ensuring responsible AI use. They point out that if students face strict AI restrictions in school but use the technology freely at home for the same assignments, educational policies become ineffective. Schools are therefore encouraged to involve parents through orientation sessions, workshops and written guidelines so that expectations remain consistent both inside and outside the classroom.</p>
<p>Looking ahead, education specialists believe AI literacy will become an essential skill, but only when students first learn to think, analyse and communicate independently. They argue that future success in higher education, professional careers and real-life situations will continue to depend on original thinking and effective communication—skills that cannot be fully outsourced to technology.</p>
