A woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district, with her family alleging that she was murdered over an ongoing land dispute. The incident, reported from Devas village under Garh police station limits, has sparked tension in the area as investigators examine an audio recording and other evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.

The deceased has been identified as Savita Patel, who had been residing in Surat with her husband, Vimlesh Patel. According to family members, she had recently returned to her native village to supervise the construction of a house. The incident is believed to have taken place at around 11 pm on Friday while she was reportedly alone at home.

Family members have accused Savita's brother-in-law of orchestrating the attack with the help of a few associates. They allege that the accused entered the house and assaulted her, resulting in her death. However, police have not yet confirmed the family's allegations and have said the investigation is ongoing.

The case took a new turn after relatives questioned the explanation initially offered by the deceased's brother-in-law. According to Savita's husband, the accused first claimed that she had died due to a snakebite. Later, he allegedly changed his statement, saying he had no knowledge of the actual cause of her death.

The family's suspicion deepened after the accused reportedly fled from the hospital soon after other relatives arrived. According to the family, it was the brother-in-law who had taken Savita to the hospital along with a few others after she was found in a critical condition.

Another key element in the investigation is an audio recording allegedly recovered from Savita Patel's mobile phone. Family members claim the recording captures her screaming for help during the incident. Investigators are expected to examine the authenticity and contents of the recording as part of the probe.

Police officials have confirmed that multiple aspects of the case are being investigated. They said the post-mortem examination, forensic findings, the alleged audio recording and other available evidence will be analysed before drawing any conclusions regarding the cause of death or fixing criminal liability.

Authorities have not announced any arrests so far, and no official statement has been issued identifying any suspect as an accused. Police have appealed for patience while the investigation progresses and have assured that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected.

The incident has generated concern among residents of the village, with locals closely watching the progress of the investigation. Police personnel have maintained a presence in the area to ensure law and order.

Officials said the investigation remains at a preliminary stage, and the exact sequence of events leading to Savita Patel's death will become clearer after forensic reports and witness statements are thoroughly examined.
