The application process for the recruitment was held between February and March 2026, attracting applications from millions of job aspirants.

With the examination dates now confirmed, candidates have been advised to regularly check the official RRB websites for updates related to examination city details, admit cards and other important instructions.

City Intimation Slip to Be Released 10 Days Before Exam

The Railway Recruitment Board has informed candidates that the Exam City Intimation Slip will be made available 10 days before the scheduled examination date. The slip will provide details regarding the city where the candidate's examination centre has been allotted.

The city slip is issued ahead of the admit card to help candidates make necessary travel and accommodation arrangements, especially those assigned examination centres outside their home districts or states.

Admit Card Release Schedule

Candidates will be able to download their admit cards four days before their respective examination dates.

The admit card will contain important details including the exact examination centre address, reporting time, shift timing, examination guidelines and candidate-specific information. Entry to the examination hall will be permitted only after verification of the admit card and a valid photo identity proof.

Selection Process Includes Multiple Stages

The recruitment process consists of several stages designed to assess candidates' suitability for various railway positions.

The first stage is the Computer-Based Test (CBT), which will carry 100 multiple-choice questions. Candidates will be given 90 minutes to complete the examination.

RRB has also reiterated that negative marking will apply. One-third of a mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

Candidates who qualify in the CBT will be shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), where physical fitness and endurance standards will be assessed as per prescribed railway norms.

Those clearing the PET will proceed to the final stages of Document Verification and Medical Examination. Final selection will be made only after candidates successfully complete all stages of the recruitment process.

Major Recruitment Drive

The Group D recruitment is considered one of the most sought-after government job opportunities in the country due to the large number of vacancies and the nationwide recruitment process.

With less than a month remaining before the examination begins, candidates are expected to intensify their preparations while keeping track of official announcements regarding city slips, admit cards and examination-day guidelines.
