The disaster unfolded after a large section of an excavated soil mound collapsed, trapping workers under debris. Rescue teams were rushed to the site and operations have continued amid concerns over unstable terrain and the possibility of additional landslides.

Officials said several injured workers are undergoing treatment in hospital. Two of the injured remain in critical condition, while medical teams are monitoring others who sustained injuries during the collapse.

During the discussion with the Chief Minister, Amit Shah also stressed the need for a comprehensive and high-level investigation into the causes of the landslide. The Chief Minister informed the Home Minister that the state cabinet had already decided to conduct a detailed probe into the incident.
