Former Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Vinayak Raut, Son Booked After Daughter-in-Law Alleges Harassment and Black Magic

A criminal case has been registered against former Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Vinayak Raut, his son Gitesh Raut and several others after the former parliamentarian's daughter-in-law accused them of physical and mental harassment, assault and forcing her to participate in alleged black magic rituals. The case has been registered at Kapurbawdi Police Station in Maharashtra's Thane district, where police have begun an investigation into the allegations.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant, Girija Raut, alleged that she was subjected to repeated abuse by her husband and members of her matrimonial family after her marriage. She claimed she was forced to undergo occult rituals in the name of helping her conceive and was made to consume cow urine against her will. She also alleged that her hair was cut as part of the rituals and that she was subjected to continuous physical and psychological harassment.

The FIR names Vinayak Raut, Gitesh Raut and five other accused. Two self-styled godmen, identified in the complaint as Firoz Baba (also referred to as Firoz Sheikh in police records) and Kazi Baba, have also been booked for their alleged involvement in the rituals. Police said one of the accused associated with the alleged occult practices has been arrested, while further investigation is underway.

In her complaint, Girija Raut also levelled serious allegations against her husband regarding their marital relationship. She claimed that despite travelling together to several destinations after their marriage, he repeatedly avoided physical intimacy and allegedly compelled her to take medication to delay her menstrual cycle for religious rituals. She further alleged that she was verbally abused and assaulted whenever she questioned his behaviour or resisted the alleged practices.

The case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with sections of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act. Police officials have said statements are being recorded and evidence is being collected as part of the ongoing investigation.

Responding to the allegations, Vinayak Raut has denied any wrongdoing. He described the accusations as false and politically motivated, asserting that neither he nor his family had subjected the complainant to any form of harassment. The former MP has said he is ready to cooperate with the investigation and expressed confidence that the truth would emerge through the legal process.

The case has attracted considerable political attention because Vinayak Raut is a senior Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and a former Member of Parliament from Maharashtra. The allegations surfaced at a time when political activity in the state is intensifying ahead of upcoming local body elections, adding to the public scrutiny surrounding the matter.

Police have not commented on the merits of the allegations beyond confirming the registration of the FIR. Investigators said the complaint is being examined in accordance with the law and that further action will depend on the evidence collected during the probe. No court has yet examined the allegations, and the investigation remains ongoing.
