A Russian Tu-214PU airborne command-and-control aircraft, often referred to as a "Doomsday" command aircraft, landed at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport on Monday, drawing international attention as tensions between the United States and Iran continue to escalate following recent US military strikes.

Flight-tracking data showed the aircraft, operated by Russia’s Rossiya Special Flight Squadron under the callsign RSD420, flew across the Caspian Sea before entering Iranian airspace. The route avoided much of the region’s congested airspace, adding to speculation over the mission’s significance.
