Rajasthan CET 2026: One Exam, Multiple Government Jobs — Eligibility and Benefits Explained

Rajasthan has built its state government recruitment around a single gatekeeping exam — and understanding how it works can save aspirants from having to prepare for and sit multiple separate tests for different jobs.

What CET actually is
The Common Eligibility Test (CET), conducted by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB), is a qualifying examination that determines whether a candidate is eligible to apply for various state government recruitment drives. It isn't a selection exam by itself — clearing CET doesn't guarantee a job. It simply unlocks eligibility to appear for the actual departmental recruitment exams that follow. RSSB conducts the test separately for two levels: Senior Secondary (12th pass) and Graduation, each covering a different set of government posts.

This year's Senior Secondary Level notification
RSSB released the CET Senior Secondary Level 2026 notification (Advertisement No. 08/2026) covering 14 services across various state departments. Online applications opened June 24 and close July 23, 2026, with the exam itself scheduled for October 23-25, 2026, conducted offline in OMR format.

Eligibility
Candidates need to have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent from a recognised board. The minimum age is 18 years and the maximum is 40 years as on January 1, 2027, with age relaxation available for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and other reserved categories under standard Rajasthan government rules — though relaxations aren't cumulative, meaning only one category's benefit applies to a candidate at a time.

Qualifying marks
Candidates need to score a minimum of 40 percent to qualify, with a relaxed threshold of 35 percent for SC and ST candidates.

What jobs it opens up
Clearing the Senior Secondary Level CET makes candidates eligible to apply for posts including Police Constable, Junior Assistant, Clerk Grade-II, Forest Guard, Hostel Superintendent, Jamadar Grade-II and several other subordinate government services. The Graduation Level CET, run separately, feeds into higher-responsibility posts like Patwari, Village Development Officer, Junior Accountant, Tehsil Revenue Accountant and Supervisor roles.

The real benefit: one test, many doors
The core advantage of the CET system is efficiency — rather than preparing for and appearing in separate exams for every government post they're interested in, candidates clear CET once and then use that qualification to apply across multiple departmental recruitment drives as they're announced. According to RSSB's own notification, a CET score remains valid for three years from the date the result is declared, so candidates don't need to retake it for every recruitment cycle within that window.

What happens after CET
Qualifying doesn't end the process. Each recruiting department conducts its own separate main recruitment exam and/or interview, with specific vacancy numbers, educational qualifications and service rules varying by post and department. CET scores essentially serve as the entry ticket to compete in those department-specific rounds — the real competition and final selection still happens there.

Documents to keep ready
Candidates applying should have their Class 10 marksheet (for date of birth verification), Class 12 marksheet or graduation degree depending on the level they're applying for, a valid government photo ID, a recent passport-size photograph and signature in scanned format, and their Rajasthan domicile and category certificate where applicable — all details must match exactly with what's entered in the application form to avoid complications during later recruitment stages.
