The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled one of its largest police recruitment drives, announcing plans to fill nearly 81,000 vacancies across various departments during the 2026-27 recruitment cycle. The initiative aims to strengthen the state's police force while creating significant employment opportunities for thousands of aspiring candidates.

The recruitment process will be conducted in multiple phases by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB), which will issue separate notifications for different categories of posts. Candidates are advised to wait for the official advertisements, where detailed information regarding eligibility, age criteria, application dates and examination schedules will be published.

Recruitment to Cover Multiple Posts

According to the state government, the recruitment drive will include vacancies for several key positions within the police department.

The expected posts include Constable, Sub-Inspector (SI), Jail Warder, Radio Cadre, Computer Operator, Clerk, along with other technical and ministerial positions. However, the exact number of vacancies for each category will only be confirmed when the UPPRPB releases the official notifications.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the recruitment process would be conducted in a fair, transparent and efficient manner to ensure deserving candidates are selected while enhancing the state's policing capacity.

The large-scale hiring is also part of the government's broader strategy to modernise the Uttar Pradesh Police by increasing manpower and improving law enforcement capabilities across the state.

Multi-Stage Selection Process

The selection process will involve several stages designed to evaluate candidates' academic knowledge, physical fitness and overall suitability for police service.

The first stage will consist of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) featuring objective-type questions. The examination is expected to assess candidates in subjects such as General Knowledge, General Hindi, Current Affairs, Reasoning, Mental Ability, and Numerical Ability.

Applicants for the Sub-Inspector (SI) posts will also face questions related to Law and the Constitution, reflecting the responsibilities associated with the role.

Candidates who qualify in the written examination will proceed to the Physical Standard Test (PST), where officials will verify physical eligibility, including height, chest measurements (where applicable), and other prescribed standards.

Those clearing the PST will then appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which will evaluate their fitness through running and other physical activities.

The recruitment process will conclude with document verification and a medical examination before final appointments are made.

Online Application Process

The application process will begin only after the UPPRPB releases the official recruitment notifications.

Eligible candidates will be required to submit their applications online through the official UPPRPB website. Applicants must first register using a valid mobile number and email address before filling in their personal and educational details.

Candidates will also need to upload scanned copies of required documents, passport-size photographs and signatures, followed by payment of the prescribed application fee, wherever applicable.

The recruitment board has not yet announced the application schedule, examination dates or fee structure. Aspirants are therefore advised to regularly monitor official notifications for updated information regarding eligibility conditions, reservation policies, deadlines and examination guidelines.
